Thanks a lot I hope the update appears on a couple of radars here and there so we can get some publicity. We'll be contacting sites as well, but free (and older) games have a hard time catching some spotlight. Especially shmups.
Holy Crapioli! The new ship - my stars, Selachii - the new ship is mind blowing! On top of that - I FINALLY got the 'Avoided damage for 4 minutes' achievement... ha! =oD Really, thank you for keeping this game fresh, and utilizing the update feature to it's full potential. You guys rock so freak'n hard. =oD **edit** oh yeah - question - why did you guys take out the coin doubler?
Avoid damage for four minutes achievement! I didn't know it existed. Just proves yet again how awesome you are SV!
Thanks synthetic We removed the coin doubler because there was a chance it was not a boost at all (if you die before earning the cost back) and it was not transparent how much you actually benefitted from it. It might be back in the future, but it will be different then
Bought. Really tough. Haven't reached 500,000 after more than 10 games. Laser looks like plasma sky's but blue and oscillating and I like it. How big does it get @ max power?
Haha, yeah this ship, maybe more than ever, requires a whole different mindset to play. Took me a while to get over a million, but now I can easily score in the 3mil range. Funny side effect is that my average score with all the other ships has gone up as well The laser is a bit less 'tube' and a bit more 'line'. It is either in normal (narrow) state or overdrive (wide).
Wow, LOOOOVE the new ship. Each time you add another one, the game feels completely new. Makes it worth SO MUCH. Seriously, what a keeper. And dang, that ship is not easy, but a blast to play. Congrats!!!
Bought the new one, love it. Haven't played this game in ages, & it's the first ship I've bought. I'm curious about the teleporter, but I'm currently having trouble trying not to reposition my finger/thumb as much as I normally do, & that ship might give me even more problems.
Well damn! There goes my decent coin earning games. I'd usually earn between 2-3k coins when using the coin doubler (along with extra power-ups and I'd usually wind up with 1-2k more coins than I started out with)... =o/ Hope you do bring it back.
First time poster! This game is easily my favorite on the iOS and the new Phantom ship is great. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to play with the Phantom, but currently I'm the number 2 score in the US so i think i'm getting used to it. Also number 28 in the US with Trinity, but i'm trying to get that number higher. Additionally, wanted to express how awesome their support is. I had to speak with Tijmen Roberti at firigames about combining the scores on two of my accounts and everything went flawless. Can't wait for other updates and new games!
Just missed a 2m game. You seem to get a lot fewer coins now, even without the coin doubler. I only got 400 with 2m.
Thanks for the positive responses guys, really great to read these posts, so rewarding <3. I will relay them to the (hidden programmer) Tijmen as well, he usually just lurks here No changes weer made to coin droprate etc. You must've been unlucky
Feedback trickling in for Phantom from yours truly... There is a drawback to pausing the game while Overdrive is active. Since you have to take your finger off the screen, you automatically lose Overdrive upon returning to the game. Of course you can regain it pretty quickly, but I don't see a way to avoid this. EDIT: Maybe there could be a type of 'leniency' pause/grace period after you come back in from the game pause to allow the player to get a finger back on the screen to avoid losing Overdrive. DOUBLE EDIT: It may be good to have this grace period apply to the game in general, where there is a second in between taking your finger off the screen and losing the Overdrive beam. In other words, release finger, beam still fires for a very brief period THEN Ghost mode kicks in.
A countdown after pause is resumed would be nice, but there's a lot tied to the pause function that we don't want to meddle with. (like when a call comes in while playing, when pressing the sleep button while playing etc etc) So we haven't touched it In our view Ghost Mode is intended for short uses to dodge waves of projectiles and even shoot in between. So, even short uses (think >0.5seconds) should have consequences. A grace period would impact the snappy-ness and make it very easy to remain in Overdrive. Thanks for your feedback though, we value it a lot and (as always) use it to improve the gameplay in the future <3
-The varying fire rates of the missiles and the 'torpedo' shots coupled with the constant firing rate of the laser makes for a gorgeous pattern, especially when you can watch it without any enemies on screen and while keeping the ship still. Since they all fire straight and are all basically the same color, the three together almost form one single weapon. The focused attack is great in general and I like the thin blue line at the center of the beam that gives it that cutting, pinpoint feel. The Overdrive beam looks radiant on the red and black background. Ridiculous contrast. -The 'cocoon' look of the ship in Ghost mode is awesome. It gives it a 'tucked away' feel that is perfect for a dimensional shift type of mechanic. -I love that the green energy particles contribute to the Overdrive bar. -I like that an EMP is automatically set off at the end of Ghost mode. It seems to function more efficiently if you achieve Overdrive and then deplete, in that more of the bullets on the screen are transformed. -Not a fan of the particles that drop off the back of the ship. Why are they so blocky? I am also indifferent with how the cockpit area is flat along the front border. It would look better a little more rounded off, or concave even. The ship also has what appears to be four cannons, two on each side of the cockpit, but nothing ever fires directly from them. It's always cool to see the weapons originate from what looks like the actual weapons of the ship. As I stated before, the actual look of the ship is my personal favorite yet. -I don't think the ship overall is quite as innovative as the Trinity, simply because the disappearing and time slowing are so integral to its function. The Ghost mode is more of a secondary mechanic, since the main focus is keeping Overdrive on as much as possible. I do like how you can become instantaneously invincible just by releasing your finger. Pretty damn cool. -I wish Ghost mode used a different sound effect than the time slowing sound already used by the Trinity, just for some distinction. -I wish the Overdrive beam sound effect was louder, if there is one there at all. Something to reinforce the power behind it. -I'd like to see more than just two weapon power-up/upgrades (since one gives you missile and the other torpedo), but I guess it's better than the Shogun, which has none. The small amount also makes sense I guess, since you really don't live nearly as long using this ship in general. Great, great ship. Probably not my favorite overall, but it is CLOSE man. Really close.
Yeah, any alterations would definitely affect Ghost mode. Agreed on losing the snappy-ness, I thought the same.
My favorite ships are in this order: 1. Shogun 2. Phantom (!) 3. Triniti 4. Phoenix For something that's totally new, it's mechanics are simply too awesome that it was an easy decision to make it a favorite ship. I still love the Shogun, but only time can tell if i will love Phantom more than Shogun as I play more.
Hmmm... My favorites would have to be: 1) Corsair 2) Trinity 3) Phantom or Mirage. The Mirage is super underrated. 4) Phoenix 5) Shogun I typically favor the ships that have the larger amount of weapon upgrades. I like to watch the vessel transform, as this really adds to the gameplay. A ship like the Corsair has multiple versions, since each time it upgrades a little differently. The Phantom only has two, so it doesn't quite have that same type of variety. Of course the Phantom is so gifted in what it does offer without a ton of upgrades that it really does even it out.
