Hi everyone! I am in the middle of building and conceptualizing a RPG game for iOS. Really want to take advantage of all the new goods that are coming soon (iOS 8, Metal, hardware, etc...) and build a rich game. A friend of mine suggested I post this here at Touch Arcade to get some feedback on the game. ET New POV work in progress. DRAFT VIDEO First draft of the 15 seconds of new gameplay trailer I'm working on.
Thank you! Still a lot of tweaking to do. Thank you! My influences for story come from three of my favorite games: Diablo (Series), Final Fantasy (Series), and Chrono Trigger. I like bits and pieces of them and bringing some of them together in this game. Thanks buddy! Thanks! Yeah, I saw the style a few months ago and fell in love. Definitely wanted to move away from pixel art. I know, I'm sorry, it feels tacky, but I just stumbled upon this forum. Trust me, I am not just going around and posting everywhere. If I post somewhere, then I engage with the community. Thank you! And thanks for following!
I'm playing around with it at the moment. I don't think it will be to the scale of something like Final Fantasy open world exploration - but not as restrictive as Diablo.
Will you be doing beta testing? If so I'd love to join! The game looks really great man! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! I will most certainly be beta testing. Right now, I am offering beta and alpha testing through the Kickstarter.
Haha, can we have an idea on what the gameplay will be like. Hopefully something final fantasy-esque.
My #1 piece of feedback so far was multi-platform. Checked that off the list today. My #2 piece of feedback was gameplay. I had a guy on Reddit who summarized it perfectly, so I'm going back to the drawing board on that area. Really inspired by the look of "Journey" from 2012 and it's super clean perspective and UI. So back to work I go, and I will share here in the coming weeks!
Magic based. The game centers around gaining experience to power up your spells. You can also use those points to do what I call "Spell Alchemy", which allows you to combine two spells into another unique one. Decided to ditch the Ortho view for something more like the follow. Still a work in progress. Gotta add some monsters ;-)
What kind of magic system are you considering? Having it split into "schools" would be neat. Maybe like Elemental, Conjuring, and Control. Then mix and match spells from each "school" when you use spell alchemy so you have something like a conjured creature or weapon that does ice damage, or a bubble that slows enemies and does fire damage? Just a thought. Best of luck!
