Actually, I love the SFX as they are... Especially the one the plays when one of the flower enemies are destroyed. Also, the one played while shooting the exploding enemies. They're awesome!
I'm on the fence about this game. How does this compare with Isotope: a Space Shooter? I thought the first Pew Pew paled in comparison with Isotope.
I like it but it is pretty simple. So, right off the bat, in any given Infinity mode, you know what to expect with the only changes being everything getting more intense over time. I guess the campaign throws a number of novel twists at you but these are simply pass/fail (and only by passing can you proceed to the later missions) so there is little incentive for replay a passed level as I recall. There is no upgrading and while you can unlock additional ships later, its only cosmetic re-skins, no effect on play.
damn, i liked Pew Pew as it was. It wouldve been cooler to make a separate lite version again of part 2 instead of updating the first, to look like the second.
Hi, I mainly want to say that PewPew was one of the first games which I got for my iPod Touch nearly a year ago, and as far as games go, I still really love it. The controls are highly precise and comfortable, which I thought wouldn't even be possible with only "virtual joysticks". What stands out the most, though, is this ideal purity in the game design as a whole. Every mode is like a little game of its own and very different from the rest, yet every mode is very well balanced and they are all similarly challenging and exciting. From details like the idea to not include something as obvious as a firing sound because it would be too repetitive, to the complete game, it really shows that PewPew is designed really very intelligently I can't judge PewPew 2, as I am not going to buy it, yet, for a reason unrelated to the game. But, when I buy the next game for my iPod Touch, it is certainly going to be this one. And, to complete the praise, which I gather must sound like viral marketing by now, I am glad that you chose to update PewPew 1. I think there is no flaw in this idea, as turning off all the extras essentially makes it the same PewPew 1 it was before, except for the added medals, ships and music. I guess some people might feel like PewPew 1 already includes too much content of the successor now, but if that's the case, I suppose it will change as soon as PewPew 2 gets more game modes. So, I guess I can only say "Keep it up!" With this approach to game design you are doubtlessly able to create more outstandingly good games [edit] By the way, if you are looking for input from fellow indie game developers, you might want to have a look at www.tigsource.com. It's a pretty large community of developers and players, and one of the most importants parts of the forums is the feedback section.
Both 1 and 2 are really top notch games, even as slight as the update is and good for the extra content for people who cant afford PewPew 2, i believe the first had its own raw style. No big deal, i just like the way the little lightning bolts coming out of the name pulsed with the one music track used for the whole game. That had a first game charm i think, the no sound effects, etc. Just my dumb 2 cents.
I just submitted an update. It should correct all the bugs mentioned (and one not yet discovered). Here's the "What's New In This Version" from the App Store description: -Works on the iPad! (sorry about that iPad owners) -Added the option to turn off the music. -Increased the volume of the sound effects, and added 2 new ones in Assault. -A few bugs have been corrected. -The campaign is now a bit easier (changed the difficulty of Expulsors). Meanwhile, the people that wants the music can download it from here: http://onurmusic.com/pewpewost/ Now I can finally start working on the campaign/new game modes.
Is there a game mode similar to the game mode in geometry wars? (Easy at first but gets harder and harder)
I'll make it more specific. A game mode that has all the enemies in it, and it gets harder and harder (your gamemodes only focus on one game element/enemy or at least from what I've seen)
Ok. Well Amalgam fits your description. IIRC, there are 11 different types of enemies that appears much like in geometry wars. Actually it was originally added for the iPad, but I thought that some people might like it on the iPhone as well
Really looking forward to the update. I had a suggestion that might make the game a little more appealing for non-hardcore gamers. Rather than changing the Infinity Modes themselves to make the gameplay easier (which I think you've written you're hesitant to do; I agree), maybe lowering the medal scores slightly would be a good compromise. Nothing drastic but just enough to keep players coming back to try and get that next ship. I'm not in the same league as some others on this forum, but the Gold Medals on most of the levels seem pretty unreachable. Just a thought. Keep up the good work.
