One main attribute of most retro games is that they are hard. This game is inspired by retro games; ergo, it is hard. These types of games are supposed to challenge you to get better- that is why there are modes like Dodge This! and Amalgam, so you can hone your skills and earn medals.
well said. @jyaif so is it possible to submit the lite version of pewpew 2 as an update to pewpew? if so, wouldnt it be clever to do since there are already many players on pewpew?
I updated the application's description, explaining that it does not work on the iPad (though it should...). jak56> yes, I decided it was an excellent idea to upgrade PewPew instead of releasing a new App, so that's what I am doing.
Aren't I just full of good ideas? Well I cansay goodbye to my first place so much for a special ship for being first place :-/ although, at the same time, I hope you get lots and lots of sales for this game- you deserve it!
Well, I think you could take confort in knowing that you are the second man in the world to unlock the 3rd ship, (after me of course )
Why does this have a merely mediocre rating on the "TouchArcade Users rating"? This looks really good.
The game is good, but I agree with the post above me - it is harder than it should be, at least in the earlier levels.
awesome. I feel too cOol now. Wait, hasn't grubjelly got it??? P.s. I woulda been first had I tested it
That depends on who you are- I'm pretty sure this game is being marketed to those who already love (and consequentially, have experience with) dual-stick shooters. Personally, I found every single level up to "Expulsors" beatable within 1-2 tries. P.S. Is anybody else besides me thinking "Why in the world would somebody want Geometry Wars when you could have PewPew 2?"?
I'm not talking about campaign only.. The infinity modes are also really challenging. First off - I don't think you should be vulnerable immediately after you lose points off your shield, there should be a small period of time until you can get hit again. Secondly - the scoring is REALLY slow, enemies barely give you any points. I played through all the modes a little bit and I only managed to get 2 bronze medals..
yes and no. as you may have guessed, I'm a big fan of this game and I'll be the first to go an say this is my fave app EVAr and all, but despite it all, I still feel that geometry wars would be a worthy addition to my iPod. It's nice to alternate between my favourite dual stick shooters, an I'm sure geomtrey wars would fill that bit where I want something a little harder than tucker ray, easier than this, but I don't wanna play minigore. (ok, so meteor blitz fits but that's not the point ) the point is, they're two very different games, and although nothing can eat this (I feel), it'll be great to have it. And Its music is legendary. EDIT: pointlessly long winded answers ftw!
1. All modes supposed to be challenging. 2. I suppose a small no-damage period could be something that could be implemented into an "easy" mode of sorts (of course, no leaderboards for easy mode), but should be kept absent from the real mode. 3. Again, all modes are supposed to be challenging. What would be the point of medals if they are so easily won? They'd be pointless. You're supposed to work and train and get better until you get those medals. I hate games that make stuff too easy to accomplish, especially paid games. You "finish" them too fast (even though they're leaderboards, some people like me find them pointless unless you're really, really good), and then you feel like you've wasted your money on something that only took a day or two to beat. I feel like I'm going to be spending a lot of time trying to unlock all the ships. Even though I'll probably never get good enough to do it, at least I'm getting my money's worth when it comes to time played. The before-mentioned possible implementation of an "easy" mode is for fun only. To the Dev, I'd really recommend an "easy" mode, with such mechanisms as a higher enemy-to-point ratio and a small period of invincibility after being hit. This, apparently, would make many people happy. It might also encourage others who are more into casual games to play. I have several friends of mine who I simply can't recommend this game to because they suck at shooters. I could recommend this game to them if it had an easy mode, so they could actually last more than 30 seconds on any level. Yes, but currently PewPew 2 is a much better value... xD I'd bet that when Geometry Wars comes out for iPhone/iPod Touch, if it ever does, it'll still be $6-8, 3-4 times the price of PewPew 2. If the Dev offers the before-mentioned "easy" mode, then PewPew 2 will satisfy your want for an easier game, right? (Right?...) Oh, and yes, pointlessly long-winded answers. So far, I am king. xD
@ikemike if the dev offers a mode that play like geometry wars, then yeah, my craving will be satisfied! on another note, gratz to grubjelly for being first guy in the world to get gold on highway! anyone got the 4th ship yet? EDIT:i hope i can play songs in the background! just downloaded the theme tune to geometry wars
there actually is a period of time you cant be hit, but thats after you lose a life. if you think about it, the only modes where this would really be useful are assault and dodge this. otherwise you usually get enough space in my opinion.
Working on it. To be honest, it's Google's fault My server is on the Google App Engine, and Google does not like it when I am sending all the scores You can still access them from: http://pewpew-2.appspot.com/Scores (because here, they are sent one by one) Anyway, I submitted a real light version, and as soon as I am done optimising the score server, I'll get back to working on making PewPew 2 work on the iPad (among other things). Sorry for the inconvenience.
