I don't agree with the OP. Simple, un-edited screenshot looks extremely BORING. Your app store page is almost your only marketing source. Would be pretty silly to not make it looks more interesting. I like what I did with Jump Birdy Jump screenshots. They are almost full screenshot but the small editing make them look 10x better than the single screenshot. And to be honest, a simple screenshot (full screen or not) will never give you that much info about the game play. Me too, I want to be able to add a video to my itunes description.

I dont necessarily think we disagree. Your screenshots DO give some idea of what the gameplay is like while still being aesthetically pleasing marketing media. I have no problem with that at all.

I said I wouldnt name names, but I will do exactly that now.
The actual reason for my original post was after I saw this game.

Now, I dont want to say anything bad about the game. From what I can tell it seems like a very polished TinyWings clone. Maybe if I see a video of gameplay I might be tempted to buy. The graphics look great, but I really cant tell what's going on in the images. I just hoped for 1 image that would tell me what the game is like. And it's a shame because they only have 4 screenshots.

I guess you could argue that it is a simple game and most people know TinyWings, so you dont really need to see large screenshots. But for me, it's just too cluttered and pushed me too far towards "dont buy".

Thats all I really wanted to say. It's very subjective, but it does get my goat, so to speak.

Ok, you are right, these game screenshots are really badly done.

Obviously, it doesn't mean the original idea was bad... Use one screen per screenshot (instead of 2) make sure the comments aren't hidding game features and these shots could have been extremely well done.

Jump birdy jump's screenshots are great and I have no issue with such images. They sure do look better than just the ingame screenshot itself.
Whats funny is that Apple hosts those screenshots but they dont use it anywhere at all. Not in iOS Appstore and neither in the web page preview. Its almost like they added them just for me to use in the NZ threads :p

While I agree that the Jump Birdy Jump screenshots look nice, I do not understand why you only have three. To me, that sort of looks like there really isn't much to the game, because even the dev cannot find 5 interesting things to show. It also kind of looks rushed, like, if you cannot even be bothered to add 5 screenshots, perhaps the game is also rushed? Now, I know that's probably unfair, but if we're talking about pet peeves, that's one of mine.

thats not exactly true, they use the retina screenies on the appstore but show them in smaller scale.. If you look very carefull you can see the difference between retina screenie and sd screenie.. :) usualy text is finer and a tiny bit less "chunky"

Hmmm. Don't have a retina device so can't confirm. I definitely don't see those high res screenshots in the iPad AppStore. Apple again hosts the full resolution, 1024x768 screenshots on their servers but they only use the smaller image in the apps web browser preview and iPad AppStore page
