Okay, so, well, the elephant in the room is the quantity of content, but if the developer is true to his word then this is something that'll become less of an issue over time. Having played this for what I thought was 20 minutes, but then turned out to be the best part of 2 hours, I am most definitely a very very happy camper. This is an excellent game and I think the app store has been rather vacant of good puzzlers for some time now. People mention Trainyard and Spacechem (which is the devil incarnate) with good reason and I believe that Perfect Paths belongs in the same sentence because it really does have that "something". It makes you think without time pressure, there's no penalty for making mistakes (of which you'll make many), and the feeling when it all comes together is truly great. However, unlike Trainyard or Spacechem, Perfect Paths has an updated look that, as others have commented on, is extremely polished and unnecessary detail has been pared down to a minimum. If it's on the screen, it's definitely something you're going to need and it gets you thinking "why". There's the community aspect as well, and here it's about finding the shortest path to make sure all blocks reach their goal - and for many (myself inclusive) it begins to scratch to the OCD itch I have. Now, although I was given a code prior to general release (in Europe/USA at least), this IS the best value game out there at the moment and will be making sure I buy it again for my wife's iDevice to show my continued support for this developer's work. So, whether you're a puzzler or not, this has to be a game you should give some serious consideration to. Now, time for bed, although I think I'll squeeze in just one more level... ;-)
Attention to detail is excellent, like Letterpress and Threes!. Fun, challenging game. Great job Pete! Looking forward to more levels, hopefully many, many more.
Perfect Path is a blast to play, but the two issues (at least they were issues for me) that were immediately noticeable was that the undo button needs to be towards the bottom and much bigger and easier to activate as people will likely be using that button the most and it is too difficult to activate quickly were it is currently placed and this may just be my preference, but not immediately getting to know how good you did on a level and having to rely upon other people's scores isn't nearly as fun as getting the instant feedback of seeing three stars (or five stars if you wanted to change it up).
What? Is the dev giving out codes? If so I would like one please. I am confused. I love puzzle games.
Bought trappped before. How is this different, besides the look and the iphone-compability? Would sure like a promo to try this one as well. How many levels are there at the moment? /Pedroapan
Me too! I'm a real sucker for puzzlers.Would be more than happy to try it out and give some impressions.
You guys made Lums, right? And the iPad puzzler Trapped? I enjoyed both of those and I'm looking forward to spending some time with this later. Best of luck to you.
I agree, the undo button in a location easier to reach with the thumb would be handy. What's with so many people asking for a promo code. This game is easily worth $2. Support the dev for releasing such a polished game so he continues to release new levels.
For people in doubt, I've just posted a long review of the game on my blog: http://nontrivialgames.blogspot.com/2014/05/perfect-paths-review.html There's also a couple of tips to improve your score if you want to compete on the leaderboards
Great review, Nicola! I liked Trappped quite a bit, but found it to be very difficult. Your comment that Perfect Paths is improved in almost all aspects; can you add a little detail to that?
