I actually thought level 26 was nice. Consider the first time you have a tree puzzle. Then the next I saw trees, I expected a similar puzzle. Once you realised that there was a really obvious feature in the level to utilise and then the solution isn't hard to find. Even though I hate the missile mechanic and a few levels are a bit of a stretch I'm still enjoying this more than shadowmatic. The dreamscapes are lovely, most puzzles are interesting, the story is an absolute bore though, it's mostly 'old person ramble but wait! There's more!'
You have to buy more hints if you want them. Losing patience with this game. No way to skip levels, often nothing in the puzzle to give you an idea of what you might need to make. My complaints about Shadowmatic are here but without even the the lights to help or option to attempt more than one puzzle if you're stuck. I don't want to use hints -- I just want to come back to the level later. # Also, I don't recommend playing this on-the-go. It drained my iPad battery to 10% very quickly.
Spoiler The first tree puzzle I got accidentally, too. But at least that one made sense after. A vague tall shape is supposed to be a street lamp? Come on. Why were the missiles/rockets even there? I was trying to see if maybe the big one lined up with a rocket launcher. The only reason I finally got this to work is because I was trying to see if I could use the white billboard for something -- it seemed so out of place. But even when I solved it, I was just surprised, not excited, since it was 100% by accident.
Spoiler I agree the shape was very vague but I thought there was enough signposting to find the solution. Trees = negative space puzzle. White billboard = nice place for negative space. Vertical line of negative space = something to investigate. Broken trunk/post under vertical line of negative space = something to line up with negative space => solution. That being said the solution shape was underwhelming.
Spoiler How was the first tree level negative space? The telephone wires together with the big ampersand made a music sheet. To me that said I needed to do something similar in 26 -- make something out of different objects (like rockets). Anyway, even the accidental, trickier or less-than-stellar levels would bother me less if I could skip them and come back later. Also not a fan of the game forcing me to ask for a hint (and then cancel) to continue working on a puzzle. All these things point to a game designed to sell hints as a priority over entertainment.
I bought this game when it came out on Steam several months back. It's not good. It's basically the concept of Shadowmatic, but disappoints the whole way. And it forces some nonsensical story at you as well, in between each level. It seriously does not make any sense. The levels themselves are bad. There's no clue as to what it's expecting from you, and often times the "solution" feels like pixel-hunting. Such as trying to see a specific shape within the space-between leaves on a tree. Seriously, that's one of the levels. And there are billboards in the game, on levels, that serve as advertisement for the company's other games. And the hint system was probably the worst. Since some levels are so obscure, you'd need a hint as to whether you're close to the solution, or the shape it's expecting from you. You pretty much cannot complete the game without using hints, and the hints will deplete quickly, forcing you to buy more. Sounds like they may have updated the hint system to award some free hints occasionally, but I don't think even with that would it save the game. If this game looks interesting at all to you, I strongly suggest just getting Shadowmatic instead. It's better designed, looks better, controls better, and there are no in-app purchases. AND your saved progress will sync between iPhone, iPad, and the new AppleTV. Highly recommend Shadowmatic. I really wanted to like this game, but it leaved me so disappointed, and even pretty angry. (I know, internet, that happens a lot. But I'm usually one of those "always look at the positives of things", but Perfect Angle just leaves me feeling empty, and I want to save other people from feeling the same way.) Such a shame...
I had no idea this was on Steam first. I just assumed these types of games would be made for touch screens first, as it makes sense. Wish I looked up reviews before buying, but at least it was only $2. For what it's worth, Shadowmatic released with IAPs for hints and only recently removed the IAPs. Their lights system still feels broken, but at least they tried. This game doesn't seem to even want you to have the slightest clue about what you're supposed to be trying for. Also, just read an RPS review that said some really strange stuff about the story -- nothing I've seen yet, so I'm not sure if I haven't gotten there yet or they changed it when they brought it to mobile.
Yeah, even on my Air 2 it's often sluggish, but still very playable. I can't imagine playing on older devices.
Spoiler I solved the first tree level by first looking for the music notes in the negative space of the trees. Oops, I guess the signposting wasn't as good as I thought it was. The game is starting to grow off me now. At level thirty and while it looks gorgeous it's just getting frustrating. (I mean, what even was level 29!!)
Wait till you get to 31. That's where I am and I'm close to giving up and moving on. Spoiler And 29 is what made me complain about the game not recognizing I got the solution fast enough. I looked up at the sky early on, but didn't make much of it. Why would I?! Later I looked at it again, I guess long enough for the game to recognize that I got the solution. Wanted to throw my iPad. Stupid level.
@LN3000: Please, don't compare the first version of steam with the iOS release because we have worked hard listening to the comments: - The story is totally new and the narrator voice too and you can skip the entire story if you don't like it. - The hint system is very different: The game include a initial pack of free hints and the game offer you unlimited free hints every 5 minutes. So, you will never be stuck more than 5 minutes. - Some puzzles improved. About old models: The game automatically adjust the graphics quality to run in a stable and constant 50-60fps - The game run perfect in a iPhone5, iphone5s, iphone6, iphone6s, iPadMini-2gen, iPad4, iPad-Air2. - The game run ok in an iPad2, iPad3, iPad-Air1. - The game obviously works with problems in the iPhone4s, iPadMini-1gen, iPad1. Exactly the same than any other 3D games: The game works if you restart your device but we can't work miracles
Hi! The game is great, but my device is getting too hot (ipad air 2). It's normal? I am hesitant to play it. Thanks!
@PrimoBr: Yes. It's normal if do you want great 3D graphics and effects. You can select the graphics settings to "normal" using the settings menu of the game if do you want a best battery consumption
It is most interesting to read your impression of this game, along with those from other players. It appears that indeed the problematic mechanics that plagued Shadowmatic are also in full operation here, along with the vagueness of the levels' goals that make for frustrating gameplay. To the developer's credit, ivanovich is actively participating here in the forum to address our concerns. Kudos to ivanovich for bravely doing so!
It is unfortunate, because these types of puzzles have so much potential. I really wanted to love this. There are actually some great ideas here that keep things interesting. But I'm amazed that it went through iterations since Steam and it's still plagued with problems that turn a fun idea into a frustrating experience.
@AppUnwrapper: Here my personal opinion. Perfect Angle it's a relaxing hard puzzle game and you must be relaxed to enjoy to kind of games. The game it's hard. Yes. but not frustrating. If all the puzzles were easy the game would be too boring. I think that you're capturing the gameplay, posting in twitter and this forum while playing, etc. Probably you're not relaxed enough to enjoy this kind of game.:roll eyes: It's just my opinion but i love to listen the opinion of all the players to improve the game
Go read through all my comments on here. If the best you can come up with is "you're not relaxed enough" then you're just trying to find an excuse for all the issues with the game. If you're trying to offer a relaxed experience, then allow skipping at least to some degree, and don't freeze the game until a player taps on the "hint" button. You say you want this to be a relaxed experience, but you're right -- it does not relax me because of all the issues I've mentioned. Also, you might not want to roll your eyes at customers who have taken the time to give you feedback. I didn't just go THIS GAME SUCKS DON'T BUY IT. You may have changed some things since the Steam release, but there are a lot of things that people complained about then that made it into the iOS release.
