I really don't wanna take away any enjoyment you fellas are getting from the game. I'm just disappointed. Oh, well. Can't please everybody. Have fun.
I respect your view. May be I don't have the PC version yet, so I am happy. ("Ignorance is strength", huh?) My experience with Puzzle Quest may be similar: pieces on the PC (demo version) are so gem like, but those on DS version looks painted button. I find as long as the change does not rip the fun out of it, I am fine. Turns out I play only the DS version. (Oops...)
Check out the P in peggles icon, then Paybacks P. They're at the exact same angle, at the exact same size... Coincidence?? =P
I felt the extreme fever speed was too slow too, compared to the desktop. It is suppose to be slow motion, but I don't think it's suppose to be *that* slow. Fortunately you can speed it up with the fast-forward button, but ideally they'd make it match the speed of the desktop version to start with. Then fast forward would make it faster. Still, it's a minor issue, at least once you realize you can speed it up. The missing music is more bothersome. I've actually stopped playing because of that. I got close to finishing the main game and decided I'd rather wait for the full version before I complete it. Hopefully an update comes out soon that puts the music back. Maybe it will slightly speed up Extreme Fever as well.
Quoted is part of an earlier post of mine, and all the issues I mentioned are still evident as you progress, and having finished adventure mode now after basically two sessions with the game, I found that such nitpicks are frequent and noticeable enough that people here are justified in their criticisms. In fact, the pauses, lag/slowdown and occasional unresponsiveness actually worsens as you progress. The dragon level has the same issues as the magic hat one, and the 'zen ball' can take a ridiculous amount of time to calculate the shot. Also, the precise aiming issue raised just now about using the screen to aim is true. You lineup the shot with wheel, double tap to zoom in and screw up what you'd already set up, you then better align the shot while zoomed in and can no longer see the bucket, and so tap to exit the zoom and screw up the shot again as it swings over to where you just tapped the screen. However, despite all this, the game is still fantastic. The initial load is overly long, there's no music, the font for your logged in ID is awful, but almost everything else oozes quality. Flicking between menus is instantaneous. Go to quick play, select and deselect levels and they flip back and forth without pause. Most of the interaction in PEGGLE is similarly satisfying and polished -- moreso than most 'best iPhone game' pretenders. I just hope they iron out the few kinks that are there.
I think you guys are missing the fact that the game is only $5 dollars, meaning it's going to have glitches and they probably knew that. Hopefully the updates (if there are updates) fixes them. I've learned a lesson though and that is to not buy games at release, not only because of a chance at price drops but because they're always full of bugs. So no more purchases on release for me. Not trying to sound bitter, just realistic.
I'm glad Peggle is out rather then continue to wait for the peggle background music. Or for them to speed up Extreme Fever, which I don't have a problem with at all, I just enjoy playing peggle, when I'm at school and work.
I don't like the split second lag on the final peg, when it has to load the ode to joy theme. It takes away the moment =/
On their Facebook page they have said, "stay tuned for news" about the background music. So I think it's safe to say that an update is coming that will add it to this version of the game. I suppose the news could be that they aren't adding it, but then you'd expect them to keep it quiet! Let's hope it gets here soon.
The main levels, yeah. I'm a Peggle Pro. Working on the challenges now, but they won't last me very long.
Whoaaa.... *hats off* I'm a Peggle noob. Still wading in the adventure mode. Plenty plenty of levels to go.
This game is a good example of the benefits of sites like this one. I would NEVER have considered even investigating this based on the name or screenshots. Some kind of pinball game with a unicorn? Forget it. But I noticed the many positive mentions on here, and that made me receptive to reading reviews, and I ended up buying it. And it's a great game. Thanks, Internet!
Yeah true. People would just stare at you like you're stupid if you just described it. You really need to play it to know what it's like. That pretty much goes with almost all PopCap games.
