Ever been to the casino and tried your hand at Roulette? Or to an arcade hall and played on the slot machines? Same thing here, just on your iDevice. It's a game of chance mostly, yes, but there is a degree of skill involved in where you direct the balls trajectory relative to the green 'special' pegs, the pink 'bonus' pegs and so on. Also timing your shot and trying to predict its path so that it lands in the moving bucket at the bottom meaning you get a free go. and other stuff that keeps you from just staring at the bouncy ball. I also thought like you as I'd never played Peggle until today, but how wrong I was.. Don't let the 'luck' aspect of the game put you off. It's iPhone crack...really
I wish there was a way to share your replays!! I've gotten so many "OMG" moments. It's so awesome when you are on your last ball, you have 2-3 pegs left and you take a chance shot and end up nailing those last three. So cool. I love this game!
Yea I know I'm just predicting they'll release Peggle Nights as an addon for 3.0 OS. From a marketing standpoint...ok bob let's sell Peggle for $5 and Peggle Nights for $5. Or bob let's sell Peggle for $5 and Peggle Nights $5 as an addon thus anyone who wants Peggle Nights is force to cough up $10. To me it seems to be a no-brainer. I haven't bought Peggle Nights for mac as I was waiting for iphone version so I hope it's not too far off in the distant future. Peggle Nights has 60 new levels and of course 60 challenges. Plus there was a free spring bonus pack released for free containing 5 new levels and 10 new challenges. So yes I'd die for it on the iphone.
In addition the framerate on the DS is quite low and so the ball appears to be stuttering. Looks smooth as butter on the iPod touch (including my 1st gen). I could swear that the desktop version doesn't have music in-game (other then during Extreme Fever). Or maybe it did and I shut it off? Or maybe it's there and I just don't really notice it? Either way I'm not missing it in the iPod Touch version, but if they could add it, I'll take it as long as I can turn it off. Maybe the lack of music is just an oversight that will be fixed in an update? I can't imagine that the iPod touch isn't up to the task. I'll check my Mac version tonight and see if there is music other then during Extreme Fever. Actually the DS version does have zoom. As I recall, you press and hold in a spot and then it will zoom in. However, I found that mechanic cumbersome to use in practice.
I had never played this before yesterday. I downloaded the PC demo because of all of the hype surrounding it. Next thing I know, I've wasted an hour. Needless to say, I made the purchase on my iPhone. I am probably the quintessential 'casual gamer.' I usually only play games on my phone for 5-10 minute stretches at a time. Thus I want to be able to go into a game, have fun, and exit again. I do have one question: Is there a way to save the level you're on, exit the app and come back?
your smarter than me then Its like when playing Chess. I was never much good at being able to predict further than a handful of moves with that game. Same here. I can pretty much predict where the ball will go for the first few bounces, but then its in the lap of the bouncy gods! Also, the moving bits are devilishly difficult to predict. Once you let the ball get anywhere near one of those moving bits, who knows what will happen... So, I see your point. Perhaps I am confusing luck with just not having enough skill....oh well...still fun though
There was certainly music, yes. The very strange thing is that the first gameplay video (posted in this thread...somewhere) showed the option to turn on/off the ability to play iPod music, so you'd think the normal music would be there (why else would there be the option?). Bejeweled 2 had that. So can this.
GREAT game. Initially, yes, it would seem to be little more than luck beyond lining up the shot, but as you progress, a lot of skill is required to clear the orange pegs with the balls available. Or, to play the game with the hi-score in mind, and actually strive for 'skill shots'. Been playing this on and off all day, and besides FLIGHT CONTROL, this is the most addictive one-more-go type of game I currently own on the iPhone. But, without a randomly generated/user created/endless mode (so far as I've noticed), and being a 'level'-based game, there probably won't be that same level of replayability once you've finished it. But, there's A LOT of content to work through and 'perfect' before that'd be an issue. Couple of things: The game handles "co-existing" on a phone very well. Screen flip is in (constantly on, not selectable via a menu), and the game loads back up and allows you to continue after a call interrupts, and battery warnings and texts pause the game until dismissed. However, interrupting the game with a call or the sleep button mutes the music, and the game continues from the playing screen, so you'll have to go back into the menu and adjust the volume everytime. Also, the jpeg compression *is* evident (zoom in for precise aiming), and the game suffers from frequent lag. The slowdown before hitting the last peg, as discussed earlier, isn't fever mode's slow-mo, but instead appears to be fever mode loading. And having reached the magic hat character now, after lining up a shot and pressing 'fire', there can frequently be a long enough pause (of everything on screen) to momentarily question whether I even hit the button before it responds. Nothing game breaking, but hopefully it won't worsen as I progress.
It's to adjust Beethoven's 9th Symphony that's it during Extreme Fever. Listen to mp3 here...skip to about 10% ahead.
What are you cheering about? Or is that a question as in Yay or Nay? If so, I think you can pretty much answer your own question by, I dunno, reading the thread....
