Never played it before this thread. I d/l the PC version last night and played around with it. After one and a half hour I realised: I got hooked. Bought it today. (Wasn't out when I went to bed.)
I was not a Peggle fan until the iTouch version came out. My suggestion to you is: try the pc/mac demo (for a few levels, like half an hour at least) and hopefully you get the idea and gameplay. If you've played several levels and still think that its just a game of luck, then you're not getting it yet (and you must be really lucky to get past so many levels with just luck) =P
Fun game, first time I've played the game outside of a demo. The duel mode and trying to all clear stages will probably have me playing for hours on end.
Alright, I'm a believer.....lol. I got up to stage 3 in the demo, and the game is freaking great. The only thing that bugs me is the audio that plays when you finish a level. I got up to stage 3 in the demo where you get the pyramid bowl. There's still 30 minutes left of my 60 minute demo, after which I'm going to pick this up. So the general consensus is that the port was well done?
Indeed it is. And by the way, you can turn off music in the options screen, which in turn also turns off the end of level music
Holy Peggle, this game is BRILLIANT!!! I caved (doesn't take much normally). It's perfect! If it's a port you can't tell. So glad I got this. Now if only Popcap would sort out the lag in Bookworm, then I will have even more future faith in this company. And Zuma.....what about Zuma??????
A really bad and evil game ... After two hours of gaming I purchased the PC Bundle Peggle / Peggle Nights ... it's a real time killer ...
I like the rest of the music It's just that one clip....it's in too many comedies and commercials, lol.
The game is great. But i agree without the music its just not the same. The game uses the most horrifying JPG compression, from level 1 the FIRST thing i spotted in the level (even before i spotted Björn) i saw this ill looking background JPG artifact caused by too much compression. I have never seen artifacts in any other iPhone/toutch game... And with a POPCAP standard that is just really lame. 10MB is not much, the original takes 38 MB and is with full quality grapichs. They could easily have rounded it up to 20mb and used some prooper grapichs for the game. Look over thoes mountains... its not haze.. its not bacause you a dizzy.. its effin artifacts....
I just found another bug. If you press the Sleep button while in the game, the music volume will automatically go to 0. But there's still not any backround music. Hopefully they fix that bug.
What's so great about this game ? Dont get me wrong, I am not trying to bash Peggle at all but I dont get why all people love this game. I feel like its really a matter of luck and almost no skills no get through the levels. Sure you can calculate the first bounces (like pool) but you really dont have any control at all. You aim, you shoot and you hope. I mean, every website had amazing reviews about this game and they say its incredibly addictive but for me I find it repetitive and not that fun at all. Am I missing something here or is it just a matter of taste? I love puzzle games but I really cant get into this one at all.
It's not a puzzle game. It has the same premise as Pachinko, or slot machines. Luck is a big part of it, but not a bad part. There's no more luck involved than say Roulette and watching the ball find its final resting place. 'Will I get lucky this time...will I...will I'
+1 TBH. They need to fix this. Rastamonkey was released with HORRIBLE compression, but it was fixed thankfully in a patch. I hope Popcap do the same.
