So I found some cards that weren't particularly good for my starting party of Valeros and Lini, but I could see them being great for others. E.g. I found a heavy crossbow'and NPC that added d4 to ranged, I burned a fair number of blessings to obtain them because I was excited to add them to the rogue (Mariesal sp?). When I dragged them to the lower area between missions (because V & L can't really use them) I noticed after the second mission they didn't seem to be available anymore. Are they gone forever if you don't keep them in your deck after a mission/scenario, or will they become available for other characters after the adventure I'm on is over. I think my problem is I'm thinking of all the characters as being in my adventure guild even if I only take a few out to tackle a challenge, maybe a party is self contained and can't give items it finds on its adventure to a different character? .. P.s. Thanks Eksaint for the help on green glowing cards. I think you're right that they are showing that as being new to my 'deck'..
You people are talking about the mission rewards screen? Everyone seems to be thinking it's "bugged" but it's really just operator error. When you get to that screen, and you want the crossbow, you drag it to the lower screen. Then scroll over to the other character and put it in THEIR screen (the upper side). If it is left in the lower screen it goes to the vault. Now, the only time (up til now) that you can draw FROM the vault is if you don't have enough cards to pull a character to their correct number of cards. That isn't a bug. The fact that they aren't there is on purpose. Everyone is so quick to say "bug" when it is gameplay. Heck, lots of people on the forums are "reporting" bugs and then people are pointing out the gameplay via page and paragraph in the rulebook. You'd think it would be more like a "bank" but that isn't how the game is played. You don't bank it to hand to someone else. Or if you want to do it that way, you need to play the character, banish cards and don't pick up new ones, and you can grab from your vault.
If you sit and read the instructions ingame, you will realise that despite the fact that's only text and it's a static image and you will also mute the audio, you will notice that the battery is drained very very quickly!! Why obsidian? I found it very weird....
It didn't let me access the vault when I was short an item right away. The blue arrow was not selectable. My other character did not have extra items that could be shifted over. After repeatedly moving the items back and forth between them, the vault items became available. Then I grabbed one filling the minimum and could continue. If this is by design it's poor. How about this one: finished the third difficulty of the very first adventure. Zero gold rewarded. I thought that's strange but maybe by design. Now I just finished the third mission on the first pack you purchase (first time) and also got zero gold as a reward. Am I safe to call this a bug or you thinking operator error on this too?
Damn maybe that was it. Annoyingly I just switched back to it and a warning popped up that I wasn't. Would have been nice if that warning had popped up before I did those two missions. My apologizes Ikeda apparently that was operator error
I think I finally found a worthy successor to Elder Sign: Omens as my favorite digital boardgame in Pathfinder. There are some annoying bugs that need to be ironed out (most notably I can't access quest mode, everything else is minor and bypassable) but generally it is really awesome. More importantly, mechanically is so elegant and right up my alley I'm really puzzled I didn't enjoy this much even the real life card version. When you finally get all the rules right (it's not difficult but the tutorial could be better) game flows really well and there are so many interesting choices and synergies it's mind blowing. I just have no idea how Obsidian will make money out of this, the model is not only super generous but I'm not sure I even like the idea to have everything at my disposal out of the bat. I like a lot to sweat and earn my cards...and when I must decide what to banish it's really super tense. By the time I completed the free part, I had enough money to get the first real scenario (currently 80% off). I've now completed that too, unlocked an additional character and I'm now ready to buy the last avaible scenario. And due to a bug, I can't even play quest mode (to get additional money). I'll probably buy the big bundle anyway to support them hoping for more campaigns, but only after I'll unlocked it on my own.
Way Obsidian makes money is us with Gc bug as we are forced to buy bundle if we want to play whole game....
LOL I don't think that was the plan Install 9.3 public beta and the problem is solved (or wait till final release, shouldn't be long). I have the problem on iPhone too (but not on iPad lucky me).
Yea, waiting for final.release but still imo quite an oversight from Obsidian tbh although I did purchase Im not sure everyone wants to invest that much right off the bat
Don't get me wrong. I'm SURE there are bugs. The one that is killing me is the low health one that the blinking causes my dice rolls/card selections to mess up. Turning off the effects fixes it.. but man it hurts. That being said, a lot of what I'm seeing via the forums are intended. And some people are quick to cry out about the bugs but for all intents, the game is pretty good for a launch title. Perfect? No. Needs some better information presented? Yes. It took some effort to figure out the mechanics and once it clicked I was like "Awesome". But at the same time... I play solo. So this game is a good fix because I'd be bummed to deal these "real life" cards just to lose.
I wanna first call out to the devs that I love the model here. Free to try and pay to unlock all the content. Even nicer is that you give people the options to unlock content naturally, without cash (providing they have an Internet connection and no GC bug). Unfortunately, I can't wrap my head around this game at all. Been playing console, table top and card games for 25 years and I just can't figure this one out. Too complex for my aging 30 year old mind I guess . Regardless, thanks for the pay structure, I wish more games were like this. Cheers!
There are a couple of good video's if you're still willing to give it a shake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymMfDo_LRCw is an example. Think of it like this. Every character and location has a deck that we can call "health". Each scenario there is one bad guy and a bunch of his minions. You draw to kill the minion or baddie. If you go after the baddie, he tries to escape so you try to "close" the possible escape routes. You can close a route by killing the main baddie or the minion. But then you get one shot to close the route again or try to empty the deck entirely. Stack your locations based on characters that can close the routes. Then there's a couple dozen weapons, armors, spells, companions/allies, and divine help cards to help you do so.
you still do have to earn them. The only thing "at your disposal" is the characters. Even if you buy treasure chests, it just makes cards available to drop in a scenario when they otherwise wouldn't.
I really appreciate you taking the time to post the video, I will have a look and thank you. However... Even your "brief description" sent my head spinning lol. Maybe this game is just a bit much for me.
Bought the Big Bundle yesterday. Main reason was to show my support to the Devs and also to get my hands on all the new characters - 11 in total. This really opens up the game!
Lickzy, don't give up! I'm still figuring out the game myself (28 years here), I'm not much of a table top gamer but I've got video games down pat. This game is excellent, there is a lot of strategy, it can be confusing but that's part of the greatness - you'll slowly understand more and more over time. I recommend doing a bit more research on whatever confuses you. Watch the videos, read some forums, there's a lot to take in!
It's not difficult. I am 36 and I have understand it around 80-90%. If you read the official manual (click here - Rise of the Runelords Rulebook), and skip the setup of the cards etc, I'm sure you will understand it. It's not "Lords of Waterdeep" which is more simple but it's not either AD&D which is so complex and you have to read books etc. You have to understand that everything is done by the cards and the main actions are: Reveal: briefly show its in your hand Display: place card face up in front of you Discard: put into your discard pile Recharge: put on bottom of your character deck Recharge section of card can be attempted after playing card (not after forced to discard or discarded for damage). Bury: put under your character card (returns at end of scenario) Banish: shuffle back into box (gone for good) So, good luck to understanding the game.
I've been urming and ahhing about whether to buy the bundle. I like to unlock things slowly, to me this is half the fun, so I was a bit torn. After reading some on the comments here I've decided to go ahead and buy it, to show my support. This is a fantastic game, looks and plays like a dream on my iPad Pro. I want to see titles like this on mobile, and helping make the games I like financially successful is the only way I can help make that happen. By the way, can anyone tell me what effect the blessings drawn as part of the turn countdown have on the game - other than allowing you to recharge a matching blessing rather than discard it?
