Pathfinder Adventure card game wants to recreate an RPG session with cards mechanics, Magic and Hearthstone don't. It's obvious this game has more complex, and maybe unintuitive at first, mechanics. Just the fact that character's decks evolve as they level up is something very different from any other card game I've played.
After the tutorial, I have been playing through mission #1 several times in order to collect better deck gear for the rogue & cleric. Found a Flaming Mace +1 card for the cleric which was quite a boost for him. Still looking for a good bow +1 for the rogue. Whenever I get my weapons early in the deck, I win. Whenever I get them too late, I lose. I think I understood like 80% of the ruleset. Quite some luck involved in this game for me still, so I am not fully convinced sofar if I will find the patience.
After playing the tutorial I was still a bit confused with some of the rules, but I went and watched the play through that luckystrikeguy kindly linked and it really helped a lot. So thanks for that, luckystrikeguy, and I advise anyone struggling to grasp the finer details to give it a watch. Actually considering buying the whole game now.
Just won my first scenario (beside the tutorial). GLORIOUS. I finally got the hang of it...tweaking my decks as we speak. I had some (very small) previous experience with the real card game long ago and found it interesting but too much of a chore to set up. The app solves all that....it's really wonderful.
Quite a brilliant game, so much so that I'm thinking of dropping the 25 for the bundle. Definitely watch a video (someone posted a link to a very thorough play through in this forum) to get the hang of the mechanics. There's nothing like this on the App Store. Between this and Ortus Regni, I'm going to be occupied for quite some time
So I did see the Dev comment on the news thread about this being optimized for iPad, but not locked out of iPhone. Yet, it was clearly set to iPad only when submitted to the App Store. Did the devs comment anywhere further on this?
My Quest mode appears bugged. I select my character and select a scenario tier, mother press the blue arrow button and get suck on the loading screen. Anyone else having this issue?
Yep, having this too. Quite a few peope have reported it on the game's official forums so hopefully a fix will be released soon.
Two questions If I will buy the bundle with 25, will I have ALL the Characters unlocked ? The difficult of each scenario is changed regarding the number of characters that it will played with or it doesn't matter?
Yes, you get all the characters unlocked with the $25 bundle purchase. The more characters you take, the more locations you have to search.
This is what is preventing me from dropping coin on it. Need the phone version also. All they have to do is let the app store allow iPhone install like they did on android will take seconds to do.
This has probably been the smoothest experience (sans GC bug - Beta update fixed that for me though!) I've ever had with a complex card games digital version. The bugs I have found are truly minor, and often limited to single card interactions or complex situations. Everyone complaining about swiping cards, you don't need to swipe them, they are perfectly tappable, and this will prevent any issues. Bugs found so far: Goblin Warsomething (Warcaller I think?) Says for "you" to make a check, but will instead force all characters regardless of location to do a check. Some of the interactions for the Druid are incorrect, especially how certain spells work and when with order of execution. With the exception of one instance, this almost always benefits the Druid. ...and that's it? I haven't finished the entire game, just the first two packs. Third pack tomorrow.
Some tips: While you could in theory run 6 character groups, you will likely find optimal number is around four. Chests (store purchase chests) will contain at least one card that is from an adventure you haven't yet played. (That is what is referred to as the "rare" card). It's also possible that they unlock a treasure card, I've noticed these locked cards in the vault, unsure about this for now. Make your characters specialists, not generalists. You can delete cards from the vault. This will (might?) prevent them from turning up as random loot for your characters within the game. I don't know if you can delete basic stuff (and I imagine you cannot), but if you have some cards you truly find pointless, you can remove them. Keep in mind that you won't have access to cards higher than the level of adventure you are doing unless unlocked by those chests. These are purely optional and very much not required to gain enjoyment from the game, so don't worry you offline folks, you're missing out on basically nothing. I would suggest making a completely different party composition for the non-story mode.
It surely takes seconds to do on the Devs' side (even fractions of second, since they thought it was already set to allow iPhone install). Unfortunately on Apple's side it will take days to approve the update. And maybe the Devs are just waiting to fix some of the known bugs before submitting the update to Apple.
Found a nasty bug: every time, when I'm trying to start the quest mode, the game freezes on the loading screen. Not so nice... Has anyone the same problem?
GOOOOOOD lookin, I saw the post somewhere about promo cards and forgot about it...although after reading Maglor's posts...I'm gonna do some digging, obsidian doesn't screw around with promo random only cards, and there's already a "promo" section in the gallery which I can confirm is unlocked after the purchase of the bundle since the goblin fish this card showed up in the first scenario. So, I'm not entirely sure that there're any gold only promo cards. I leave the sign on thing on anyway when I play since it prompts me to, but so far I spent like 4 hours playing last night, and this morning I only have 44 gold total, so I'm glad I bought the bundle for the offline availability, grinding for anything would have been horrible.
Agreed. Well I just dropped 25 on the game so I really hope they release iPhone fast. I am fine with current game just make it iPhone installable.
Just a warning. This is only just playable on the 6 plus and that's with the aid of the zoom function to check in on some text such as the location rules in the upper left, or even card text if your eyes aren't up to it. Almost zero chance on a iph5 without full time zoom usage which makes it blurry anyway. They need to re do the UI completely to have this in anyway acceptable on phones. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for them just letting It loose onto phones, and I am looking forward to them changing UI for iPhone which I think they will be trying.
