The next update is due out "within the month", but I wouldn't expect to see it for a couple of weeks at the earliest.
Has support for smaller screens devices been confirmed? Great news. And less reason to look forward to my iPad
I finally pay the lump sum for the full bundle... Alas! I test and find that I can actually play the quest mode with a party of 2, what gives? I love paying this one on iPad, feels more like a board game this way.
No, I think the next update is mainly core bugfixes and such (notably Quest Mode), with a few minor content additions, possibly. I'm not sure if Obsidian wants to formally support phones until they've redesigned the UI to cater for them properly, even if some people are happy using the existing design.
Dude, you're a legend - just sat and watched the whole video and not only does it now all make sense but I'm also champing at the bit to get stuck in! The guy from 'Critical Play' should also be given huge praise. His use of language and delivery is clear, succinct and without excessive hyperbole (ok, maybe a few too many 'Tremendous' but it gets the point across!) - and his passion for the game really shows through and got me enthused to play. I really recommend the Devs add his YouTube link to the tutorial to help people get their heads around how the game plays - the gameplay mechanics (4 types of 'discard', blessing 'timer' etc) makes so much more sense now. Really recommend watching it (~52mins) for anyone struggling to get to grips. The downside to having such a good video run through?.....I now need to watch the second part to see how his adventure concludes....testament to both the game and the guy in the video's presentation. #
Is this correct? Would be a shame if so - the idea of having several in a party to manage would be great - and a key element of the game (going by the video I've just watched) is that the adventures scale in size and content depending on the number of players in the party. Possibly limited to 2 to keep the game more fast paced for single play? Maybe the Devs are intending to expand it for online play?
On another note - I haven't purchased the expansion bundle (yet!) so don't know if the online features in the 'store' (signing up for daily gold, adventures, characters etc) only work once this has been unlocked? I can't seem to access any of it, the on screen buttons just give the message "You are not logged in. Log in or create an account to access this content!". I don't want to pay for the full bundle only to find I can't use half of it because of the Gamecentre bug? Can anyone clarify for me please? Thanks.
No, Quest Mode is just bugged all over the place right now. Most people can't start it at all without it locking up their devices, and the ones who can get it to work usually find themselves suffering a severe time limit bug that means it is basically impossible to win. Once it is fixed, you'll be able to go adventuring with parties from 1-6 characters, in randomly-generated normal, heroic and legendary scenarios.
@Appletini Ah, that's ok then....well, obviously not 'ok' ok, just 'ok'.....ok? # In which case, think I may hold off purchasing until bugs are ironed out. I'm a little confused by the 'IAP' description though - I understand you get the first 2 expansions included but are the rest also included upon release or is it just saying they're pre-requisites for the following expansions and those will need to be purchased separately? Also, could you answer my earlier query about online access please - is it necessary to purchase the unlock before setting up an account etc or am I experiencing the Gamecentre bug again?
If you buy the bundle, you get everything in the app, current and future — at least for the Rise of the Runelords set; the other sets (Skull and Shackles, and Wrath of the Righteous) will likely be separate purchases of around the same price if and when they are released. This first bundle gets you the six RotR adventures, eleven heroes, the C deck (additional bits and pieces for some of the characters, including animal allies for the druid character), and the P deck (promo cards). If you buy that, you don't need to unlock anything else, or even be online. The only real reason you need to be connected in the first place is to access the store, and earn gold in-game. It's possible to buy everything in the bundle (adventures, characters, etc.) with in-game gold earned by completing scenarios, with the current exception of the P deck. If you buy the bundle, the only use for gold is to buy treasure chests, which hold additional cards that don't come with the Rise decks. Although Obsidian are hoping to introduce cross-platform facilities that will use their own account system, right now you just need to be logged in through GameCenter on iOS to access the online features (the store, ability to earn gold, etc.).
Hey, thanks very much for the explanation. As it happens, I've now managed to log in to GC and lo and behold, all online features now work including earning gold. However.... After completing the tutorial, the guy who sent us on the quest offered to double the bounty to 200g. I accepted this and the game then went on to tell me I'd unlocked the Rogue and the Cleric, with the little animation of the lock opening and their black silhouettes becoming colour pictures. It then takes me to the party creation screen but all the portraits (including the Rogue & Cleric) are greyed out. Trying to select any of them results in the message 'Additional characters are available for purchase in Character Add-on Deck' and it offers to take me to the store. I haven't yet purchased the full bundle or any of the individual packs - is that why I'm unable to select the 2 new characters? I was under the impression you got more of a 'taster' of the game and not just the tutorial before having to buy more - is this incorrect? I can't proceed at all, I can only replay the tutorial. Thinking the game may have had a funny turn, I decided to clear the cache and reset the app from iOS settings. I then played through the tutorial again except this time, the guy only gave me 100g for completing it! Gutted, had lost the 200+g from the first run through and to top it off, despite being told again that I'd unlocked the Rogue & Cleric, their portraits are still unselectable. I'm baffled and stumped - am I missing something here?! Edit: should probably add, my iPad is jailbroken - could this be causing the problem? Perhaps as others have said, some form of inbuilt digital security to prevent piracy?
At this point, you might be best off going to this site, which is the official technical support forum for the app. Check the stickied threads there, as they cover most of the issues people have been having. You shouldn't be running into issues picking up those two characters, however, as everyone gets them for free along with the basic three-scenario adventure. The gold you earn is tracked server-side to prevent cheating; are you sure you don't have the 200 from the first run?
Thanks for the link, I'll take a look tomorrow and post back here if I come up with anything. I thought the Gold would be server tracked too which is why I was surprised it didn't show up. I've just double checked and it's definitely not there (just the 114 from my last run) despite being logged in with GameCentre again. Weird. Actually, now I come to think of it - the first run through gave me 200g but the second gave me 100g plus a chest. Maybe it changes each time? Still doesn't account for my missing 200+g though! # #
Ok, I figured out - it's the jailbreak that's causing problems with unlocking characters etc. I've just rebooted my iPad in to 'no substrate' mode, reloaded Pathfinder and now both characters are available to play. 'Sneaky little Devsis. Wicked, tricksy....!' # First time I've ever found an app that does this, they're definitely getting tighter on securing their IP's....can't blame them really. For anyone with a jailbreak who finds themselves with the same problem - turn off your phone completely and then reboot holding the up volume key until the apple logo appears. Then release the volume button and let it reboot - you are now back to stock iOS sans jailbreak. To re-apply the jailbreak, just reboot the phone as normal. ....still doesn't explain my missing gold though!!
Developers sent an update 1.0.2 yesterday to apple and google: Fixed: - Quest Mode - Now with more "working!" We found an issue where Blessings were misappropriated depending on party size and would make it unplayable IF it didn't outright crash. - Duplicate Party Members - Pushing out experienced party members and causing a possible progression block. The Dopplegangers have been smote. Anybody who had a crashed screen will be resolved. - Daily Gold - Counter should be working properly. More importantly, you can actually collect gold. This didn't affect everybody but it was very annoying to those it did affect. In the near future: We are moving the collection of gold to be on the opening screen in addition to the store's main screen. Since it wasn't delivered on logging into the game and needed to be tapped-on, there was some unintuitiveness. - Gold Exploit - There was a way to generate a lot of money by taking some highly geared individuals into some low level scenarios and constantly get a one time reward. Making it not very one-time. So, in some few days it will be approved and will be released in public. Have patience.
Glad you found your problem. I'm jailbroken using iPhone 6+ and I did not run into this issue at all. Odd.
Oh - good bye Brigandoom! Will this fix include all difficulties, so no more gold even when repeating on legendary diff.?
