I for one am incredibly happy Apple, the billion in free capital conglomerate, has taken the high road in censuring apps. Lets be honest, most people are not capable of making good decisions. Look at the USA for an example, they complain about the policies put in place by politicians, yet they keep voting the same politicians in or worse, not voting at all. See, right there, as a species we can't even choose who governs us the right way! Now I hear you skeptics out there, "but Apple lets me buy songs about murder and sexual harrassment, movies with violence and gore Woodrith!".

I can feel your loathing and skepticism a mile away average TA forum user!

Fear not, science is on my side. Its been proven by the Theoretical Institute in a double blind study conducted over 10 years (2002-2012), that games, specifically in App form can hurt, nay, destroy the neurons associated with logical thinking. It was shown the more the game or app pushed art, critical thinking, or serious issues onto a customer, the less likely they would download and spend IAP on Clash of the Clans and Candy Crush.

    Because.....science!!!

So when Apple decided, and rightly so, that the poor fragile customer that you are, couldn't handle nudity in the Papers, Please game, they did it for you. I mean, god forbid if the children saw this disgusting pornography, which you definitely can't just google on an iPhone! But seriously, why play a game that makes you realize just how uncomfortable it can be in a totalitarian government or being searched by TSA.

Thats what you get for hiding all those dirty dirty jailbroken apps!

At the end of the day, why wouldn't you be able to trust a company that is simply looking out for you. They were able to make billions of dollars, so they can't be wrong. They've given you the iPod and iPhone for crying out loud! Isnt it so much easier for someone else to decide and make the right choices for you? Its not like they sit on top of a pile of money completely disillusioned in how normal people think or operate.

Ehh whats the worst that could happen to the future?

So despite all the above whats the issue ? Have you had an app censored then ? (Please just tell me, not lots of photos !)

I dont mind the censoring at all, if anything i think Apple manages to censor lots of crappy apps which might have nudity for the sake of it. Its all a bit hypocritical in a way (zombie games, murder games etc) but if i think they allowed nudity apps there'll be tons of them flooding the app store

If you dont like it move to Android. Then you will get annoyed with the amount of utter crappy apps, nude apps and other terrible apps on Android. There are good games on Android but theres SO much rubbish out there. But again you have a choice, dont want any censorship then go to Android

Apologies, went off on a sarcastic rant.

But I wont lie, definitely find your stance troubling. It sounds like instead of asking for change and fairness, go somewhere else if you dont like it. Apple is a huge company spread across a vast entertainment sphere, whose goal is to always add to the customer base. Which with that allows it to vastly influence what you see and hear. If it finds something it doesn't like, you will not be able to access it. The bigger the company gets, the less you'll even know how much is being censured. Your statement, and if I'm stating this wrong please let me know, is Apple knows better then you as the customer. I hope others are more troubled.

    Interesting read

This is and will always be a touchy subject. I am one who considers video games art(as they most definitely are), so should you censor art? Should we censor the venus de milo boobs(I think not)? Should we censor a naked artist pooping in a canvas and calling it art(I am leaning towards yes on this one, but who am I to judge)? So its kind of hard to decide. I think the current degree of censorship for all art lies with the mainstream thought process, and that changes slowly over time. Maybe naked artist popping on canvas will be all the rage in 20 years (if it isn't already).

P.S. looking at the pictures you posted I rewatched "The running man" a couple of months ago because I had such fond memories of the movie when I was a kid. Do yourself a favor and just remember the good memories. DO not rewatch it as it does not hold well LOL.

We all know Apple censor everything for us, yes theres a wide wide range of different users out there, older gamers or Apple fans, very young Apple fans etc. Apple wont get it right all of the time.

I personally get a lot more enjoyment of the amazing apps i download and play on the Appstore than i do worrying if Apple have censored too much or theres an app i wanted and Apple annoyingly censored it.

Had an iphone/ipod touch for nearly 5 years now and in those 5 years i can probably count on one hand anything i've read about certain apps being censored where i've thought 'APPLE nooooo'.

I had an Android device for a few weeks and i was shocked trying to find decent stuff in a massive non-regulated app store, so much rubbish out there.

I personally cant stand Anime or seeing cartoon half clothed 'kids' which i find quite worrying (though i wasnt bothered by the sponsorship this week on the main TA page where you saw a 'bit' of a breast).

So yeah basically i think its nothing to worry about, the second i get lots of great games censored by Apple then i'll get annoyed and to show my annoyance i'll move over to Android. But personally this just doesnt appear on my list of things to worry about that much.

All successful large companies get a bit too big for themselves, look at Microsoft, now its Apple. With that amount of success some people will be a bit against them (unless you had Apple shares in the early 80's)

Well as Eli has stated, it is a human process, so I can understand things will slip through. Whether your a dev or not, it is interesting apples take on apps though.

    https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/

    Directly from the website link:

"We view Apps different than books or songs, which we do not curate. If you want to criticize a religion, write a book. If you want to describe sex, write a book or a song, or create a medical App. It can get complicated, but we have decided to not allow certain kinds of content in the App Store. It may help to keep some of our broader themes in mind"

So as psj3809 has stated, Apple strives to keep the app market place a clear but coherent picture, where on the android market, if you have five minutes you can push for the most part any type of app. I'm not against that at all.

My whole point isn't so much about the nudity, it's choice. Let's be clear, we are Apples base. Without customers, it will not function. As a company, it's only concern, which is appropriate, is the bottom line, how to continue to make money and increase new customers and income. As it gets bigger and bigger, any choices it makes, affects all of its customers, to include not just individuals, but companies that use its products as well. If Apple is happy to decide something for us, why wouldn't those Smaller companies as well. I don't believe Apple is out to create a one world government or control are lives, but it's a company, it doesn't care about individuals, only its income, unless the entire base is affected Apple could care less.

That's why me as a individual, I believe we should nip any potential censorship as soon as possible, letting Apple know, hey, we're not cool with it, this what we want, give us that freedom, can you dig it? I think it's funny when rational opinions are stated and everyone gets crazy about it, but it's the internetz, what you going to do?

I pity the FOOL who brings rational conversation to the INTERNET!
