The game is nowhere near as floaty as LBP. It also doesn't have the level creation tools and the huge variety of level designs. Either way, the comparison doesn't hold.
I couldn't find the game in the store, and CM usually doesn't dump titles without a release date and proper marketing, so I assumed it was someone looking for attention.
It has no specific release date. See comment: The game has been hyped so much, assuming it is half as good as it looks the marketing could be done viral by itself. Also... there was a definitely post that it was out. However, I agree with you that it was likely a joke.
I know there was a post saying it was out -- I deleted it myself. As to how it will be released, I would be surprised if we don't see some iOS press coverage before the game becomes available. I could be wrong, though.
Lol. You mean posts I saw the posts this morning and you could tell it was BS. The guy had like a Hextuple post going.
I should have known it was someone messing around. I don't understand why some people do that. I hope we see it in the next two weeks.
The comparison was not so much in gameplay, as much as the art style which instantly reminded me of LBP with the world looking like it was made out of things like paper and cardboard. Much the same way Storm in a Teacup reminded me of it in level design as well. Regardless I've been looking forward to this and Topia ever since I laid eyes on them on Crescent Moon's website
Yeah, there's definitely a visual similarity. I just don't want people to be disappointed by the fact that the game is not as crazy diverse as LBP, or, conversely, expect it to have the same loosie-goosie physics (a turn off for many, including me). In many ways Paper Monsters is a fairly traditional platformer -- not a bad thing at all in my book.
It's 12.08am Thursday here in New Zealand and still no paper monsters. Apple fudging sucks at accepting games, slow cheetahs =.=
Jeez come ON Apple: this is one of THE most anticipated titles of 2011, going into 2012... It will be one of the hottest games on the platform. This quality level in platform gaming is what is lacking in the App Store. 2.5D platforming with GOOD production levels and GOOD graphics and GOOD levels. And STILL not approved. I cannot believe this. I seriously thought it was coming tonight. Sometimes Apple is slower than my dead grandmother. She approved it last week.
What makes you guys think it's not approved yet? I wouldn't be surprised if it is approved already but CM is working on sending out promos to review sites, building up the hype, working on the marketing and other PR stuff. Just because it isn't in the app store yet doesn't mean it hasn't been approved. Much more is involved in releasing a SUCCESSFUL game than just having it go live...
Just wanted to let you guys know that we're looking at a release next week most likely. We've been cranking away on a new level pack for Valentine's day.
