In my iPad Air the buttons looks so small to the point I can't move fast enough to stand a chance against the first boss. I always end by clicking beside them, I can't 'feel' them and because of it my frustration grows with every try. My guess is no one else will find them a problem to play, however it is for my and I'd love to have an option to make them larger. IMO this game is for hardcore players only, it's very hard to beat bosses and players as myself who didn't played the original Pang will find very hard to enjoy it. As I already said these are just my opinions, with no intention to offend anyone.
It's also worth noting that the console and mobile versions were developed and released similtaneously. Not a port.
I think the same. I like the game but controls in iPad are not for me, this game needs precise and fast controls. There is MFI but like in other games if you don't press the button to the max pressure it doesn't work. Bad idea that pressure buttons on the Nimbus
Agree, level 3 of world 2 was too hard for me tried 30 times or so, but don't have the patience anymore like when I was younger so I had to let it go, shame because it has some nice ideas and gameplay.
True, also the graphics are great so it won't leave my iPad anytime soon, but only to play it from time to time with no desire nor patience to finish it though.
Sorry to hear that. An option to manually resize should be easy doable @ DotEmu/Pasta...reading? Concerning precise and fast, sorry, you're wrong*. They are precise, and about fast, that's the mechanic this game always had. Not easy to adept at first, because you cannot run and shoot as in a run'n'gunner. Also depending on the weapons, but even with the default hook, it's possible to be pretty quick, but surely not dual-stick quick. *Assuming you're new to Pang (are you?), please read the review. Only iphone 5s speaking, i'm finding the size of the buttons perfect, and they work pretty much exactly as great as back in the arcade days. Oh, and the brothers hit-point is definitely on the players side, at least, though this won't make a big point in your decision to fall on either side of the fence. I'm in Hongkong (5th station, level 14) and the levels get very tricky. Well, to be honest, far, far earlier already. Yep, patience and persistence, if you don't bring these two into battle, you already lost. To figure out how these (in the end) very short levels work, is to die over and over...you get it. Not everyones style or game. Who knows if i wasn't that biased with this game's past (and mine). Just saying for the savants out there, the satisfaction to complete a level 3-hats goes almost into the Lost Socks category. Maybe 2-3 times a year i can read a review of Shaun. Pretty much spot on, imho. Well done. (In 95% of his reviews i understand nothing, because i don't own those games)
I think it would be nice to have the ability to move or resize the arrows, but they are fine overall. Take a bit of getting used to. To me, I think that was almost more due to the fact that you can't really move while your hook is still in motion so it's not really a lack of responsiveness. I had never played a Pang game in my life and at first this was harder than hell. Once, I got into it though, things clicked and I am having a blast. About 2/3 of the way through the second world. Passed the first boss on my second try. I can't remember which one it was (maybe 2-4?) that I got stuck on with the flamethrowers and too many balls to deal with. I found that going for the blast it all approach is not always the best way to beat a level. And I finally got past it. It does take some strategic thinking to know how to approach each level. So just wanted to throw that out there that you don't have to be a hardcore fan of the series to enjoy it. But you do have to sink some time and thought into it.
Yeah that was level 2-3, so anoying that I deleted the game, sorry pasta games. You can call me a wuzz, I don't care.
Lol, had to look after "wuzz". No result. I can understand you, Roger. Lol, as far as my "observation" is right, we two will never have the hay (games) in the same barn...high hopes i have for Loop Mania though. Saw you praising over at Umbrella's and i can't wait to play it.
No. Not a wuss. That was by far the hardest level I've hit yet. Actually breezed through next five levels with all 3-stars (or, I should say, "hats"). Probably spent an hour just on 2-3.
Little bit surprised with how much trouble you guys are having with those levels in Death Valley. I've never played any variation of this game in my entire life and was seriously struggling to get 3 hats on most of the levels in Bora Bora, but I started to take a much more slow, strategic look at things and I've not had a single issue finishing any of the levels up to 2-5. Earlier today I decided I wasn't gonna go on until I got 3 hats on all the levels I played so far and had stopped at the first boss, but just to see what Roger and Anthony were talking about, I tucked my tail in and played till 2-5...and came to the conclusion that I must have seriously not understood which levels you were talking about. In fact, I found 2-5 to be multitudes harder than 2-4. I really wish you'd reinstall this Roger. It's a beautiful arcade game with the heart of a puzzler, and no one embodies a puzzle game lover on this forum more than you.
Well, it actually was the realization to take a slower, strategic approach that finally got past 2-3 (or 2-4, have to go back but assuming Roger was pointing out the right one). You can't always go in guns blazing and survive. I did the next levels up to 2-8 with three hats on the first try after that.
No I really like the game that's not it, but there so many games at the moment and games that are coming the next weeks that I need to do some sort of what do I like most and what less, and this game is because of the button layout a bit less, and to be honest I really like the one touch games the most, so for now and maybe ever I am gonna play only one touch games, I am a bit done with virtual buttons, it's so 1985, ha ha.
Great work anthony! I just finished "3-hatting" all the levels up until 3-1 (Scotland). You're gonna love the last few levels in Death Valley. Roger, your complaint certainly is valid as I don't believe I've seen you in a lot of threads of games that have virtual controls. It's just a shame that you've given up on Pang. This is easily one of my favorite games of all time on iOS. Whereas 16 "samey" levels in Chameleon Run was more than enough to satisfy my need to ever play that game again, I'm already 30 levels into Pang and I just don't want the 100 to ever end. It's SO much fun.
Yeah, I am not just saying this, I got 7 games on my device, 6 are one touch and one is tilt, sorry for the off topic. All I can say is that people who like virtual controls, you can't get better than this.
Argh, to pang or not to pang? I know I'll enjoy it, but I just got star knight (gorgeous action/platformer, btw), and I always avoid buying more than one game at a time. But reading the impressions here, I don't know if I can help it. Ah, screw it, this one is for my younger self. No quarters needed, boy! Or, uhm, around twelve of them.
Umm.. no.. I enjoy virtual controls, but I find these to be disturbing.. I've rage deleted 3 or 4 times already due to the controls, and no dang cloud-save either..
