I don't care about features. Only one thing matters with these kinds of apps, and all the previous ones have failed that test: does it actually work?
Good question. That is why I want to create an scanner app that I can actually use. scan quality sample here: http://www.litchie.net/apps/pagescanner-demo-3gs.html Click on the image to see the full version.
I'm interested but I need it primarily to scan receipts for expenses. Receipt are often blue on an off-white or a shiny rather than a matte surface. How does it hold up for those types?
Thank your for your interest. I guess you want to turn your receipts into black and white (A process we call binarization). As long as there are not too much colors mixed together, the result is always good. So I think in your case, blue-on-white, the result should be as good as black on white. There is no problem with shiny or shadows, as long as your eyes can still easily tell the difference between text and background then page scanner can also do it! If you are not sure about the quality, please just wait for a while. A lite version page scanner is waiting for review. As soon as it comes out, I can PM you about it. Perhaps I should include some demos for this scenario. I have to admit that I didn't think it is common scenario before, obviously that was wrong.
Page Scanner Lite Version is available now! http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/page-scanner-lite/id374104929?mt=8 You may need to wait a little bit before it's actually online.
