No, I haven't had any league matches there and no friends have hosted that. There was a 2v2 map similar to that though, so I guess that counts as experience of it. Anyway, well played. 5 frickin turns... You really surprised me there, thought you would go for wits, but no.

So I got completely blindsided/outplayed in the last hour... First BTT, he surprises me on a map that I didn't have much experience on. Well I thought it would be an easy map, but it was kind of like glitch, he just rushed and beat. Damn.

Then Juuicetin. We were having a nice army build-up match, but then we started the fight for good finally, but I didn't know what was the special for robot pack, I always new the cute ones had transport, but when he suddenly turned my bombshell into his troops, I literally WTFed and was so close to hitting that give up button =/ Oh well, well played...

Speaking of the packs, I really need über pack and especially robot pack after getting surprised completely. That special seems to be a lot better than bombshell or transporter.

This was to be expected, and it is good. No one should place in the masters from the qualifiers, those 2 leagues should be far more grindy, as they have to be a sign of consistent skill, for the same reason, most people shouldn't make it on those, and in general, leagues should have a max number of players in each one following certain accumulation distribution (perhaps a chi-square of sorts, or just a pyramid), so that it means something, and also, causing so players can be demoted by others people's actions not directly with them, just a natural pass in every game as player base "raises the bar" and while you could be st last week, so many better sts than you have shown so that you're automatically kicked off.

No idea how it currently works, but that'd be optimal in my head. Sure, it makes ranking grindy, but it makes it more accurate and worth something.

It is all about playstyle. While scrambler is good, I'd never change my mobi for it, as it requires being more defensive. Same as mortar, even tho a mortar can wipe a mobi and a scrambler with one shot, being 3 and 2 hp when maxed (and every super is always maxed).

If you want to look at it in some basic way:

    Mortar is the defensive
    Scrambler is the counter
    Mobi is the flanker

There's more to it than that but by knowing that you can get a feel of the playstyle of a player that chooses his team well.

    Strange bug, I think:
I joined my first 2v2 game, took a turn, when I clicked 'done' it said 'error: it's not your turn.'
Now I have this 2v2 game in my games list, with four names - none of which are mine. When I try to open it, the app crashes.

It's also important to consider how each of the special units can be used, because they're all very powerful.

Bombshell is a strongly defensive unit, and intelligent placement of one or two of them can completely shut down a pathway, although I've yet to see anyone use him offensively as of yet.

Mobi is a transporter, which may not sound too impressive unless you've played a lot of Advance Wars. Mobi can leap into a battlefield and start vomiting Snipers and Heavies, and trust me, having Snipers suddenly turn mobile is terrifying. Mobi can also be used to retreat units if you stumble into an ambush. Mobi feels like the most offensively-inclined Special Unit to me.

Scrambler I consider to be the trickster. It takes a pretty sizeable investment to keep him safe, since he's the most fragile of the three, but successfully converting a high-value unit to your side can be disastrous for your opponent.

I'd strongly recommend picking up the Über pack and just playing round with all of them, they're all wildly different.

I didn't think it was possible to wall off on foundry, but we did it. The longest league game I have played and I was clearly outnumbered.

I dont like the feedback levels as much. It feels like their FTA is a lot more noticeable than the other maps. It feels really hard to protect your medic and sniper because of the open area.

By the end of the match, we both had a wall with our specials behind it. I attacked first and took the brunt of the counterattack. It ended in a crushing lost. If anyone is curious, here is the replay:

Any chance there will be skins in the future for knights, kings and those style characters from mid-evil times?

    Thanks :D

Just took my last turn on my very first game.

I had 1 hit point left on their base. When my soldier swung and hit their base for the final blow, I heard the beginning of an explosion that would be their base coming down except that my iPhone 3GS screen went completely black (as in shut off) and the phone fell silent.

At first I was thinking, "ok, well maybe it's switching to some CGI action with fireworks and the whole victory shebang"...waiting....waiting...screen still blank...hmmm.

I hit the home button...nothing, tap it again...nothing. Press the power button on top of the phone...Apple logo appears! What tha?

Just before taking my turn I hit 20% battery so I know it wasn't that close to dying.

Anyways, phone finally shows the 'slide to unlock'...I 'slide'...aaaand, black screen...press home button...nothing! Phone shut down again!

Now it won't even turn on!

I'm not home atm, so not near a charger and left the car charger inside because this was just a quick errand, so I'll report if it still doesn't work when I get plugged back in.

    Slightly worried...lol.

The final blow was so EPIC that it nearly exploded my phone I guess, lol. :D

Here a game between Juuicetin and me.
Used a bombshell as a defense, but half way in I use it as an offense.

Oh yeah, so since I'm a new player, I'd like some practice against players who don't mind chatting. My GC is Emuchu, like my username, so hit me up! I'm still trying to learn how to successfully mount a Mobi-lead Sniper Swarm, but it's pretty tough for me to spawn Snipers at all for half of the maps.

Anyways, here's what I'm doing thus far in each of the maps:

    Sharkfood Island
I think this stage is a little odd, especially for a default level, because the Spawn Point is pretty far away from the base, making it difficult for me to consider using Snipers. I'll try and wall-off the top area with Soldiers, since I get Runner-rushed pretty often in this level, but I find it difficult to play this one defensively like I want to.

    Long Nine
This one is fun. The map is pretty large, so it's much easier to hunker down and brace for a fight. But something I've noticed is that most players like to advance from the lower passage, so I tend to just leave the starting Heavy and Soldier down there as a distraction, whilst I sneak in a Mobi from the top Spawn to drop the starting Sniper and/or Heavy next to their base. I first saw this in a replay from Xexist (p.69). It rocked my world, and I never ignore the top of the map here for that reason.

    Glitch
I abhor this stage, it's too small and fast for strategies that aren't bum-rushing. If I'm first, I try to follow drawwall's/remembernathan's (p.67) strategy of pushing a Heavy and Runner clockwise around the map, but I don't know how to respond to that strategy if I'm second. It's tough, and I haven't successfully built a good wall to deflect that approach. Any advice for starting second in Glitch, guys?

    Foundry
This one is all big and open, so I usually just try and push Soldiers and Runners to try and occupy the two corner Bonus Spaces, since that'll usually tilt stalemates in my favor, then block that side passage to my base, but I'll admit I don't have much experience here and my strategy is pretty unrefined.

    Sweetie Plains
This one is my favorite map to play in, I like sneaking around corridors. I watched one of the replays from remembernathan (p.52) that was just tons of Snipers and two Mobis on one side, and several Bombshells on the other. Watching Mobi throw around and retreat Snipers is the reason I play Adorables, and I always like to spawn oodles of Snipers in this map for that reason.

    Peekaboo
I don't land here very often, but I usually lose because I haven't been prioritizing melee units as much as I should. Still need more experience in Peekaboo.

Anyways, I think having our skilled players give their opinions and some tips on each of the maps is a good idea, especially Sharkfood and the two Feedback levels, where I haven't come up with a strategy better than pushing those Runners. Any advice, guys?

Ok, I think I'm one of the mobi players here and I think I'm the main mobi/sniper user here.

1st of all, once you have mobi, 6 is your magic number. Move spawn sniper tele attack, costs 6 wits, that is what should always be in your head when planning an attack, sure you can spawn snipers before, buff them, etc. but you need to know that 6 will get that done even if you don't have a sniper up.

After the glitch strategy got on the forums (and is the medic heavy clockwise move that is the rush, check a couple of pages back), I don't play that map often, as t is annoying and incentivizes defensive play, which is not my playstyle, or how you should be using mobi anyways, aggressive mobi is better than def, you have a total range of 7 hexes, that's better than ANY class in the game, you have to capitalize on this. But since you're squishy, your thing is shadows, flanks and openings.

IMO adorables aren't built around huge showdowns like juuicetin v remembernathan, you get an opening you do 3 dmg, if you do it well, you win, that's mobi.

With that in mind, I don't have tips for glitch or long nine, I'm not good at those. For the rest:

Shark food: all about tha top passageway. You don't need mobi, but he helps moving snipers from the spawn to the fray effortlessly. Keep medic with mobi top, spawn and tele snipers, once, you don't need the 7 hexes or will use them here, so mobi is not really needed anyways, but it is all about the top passage, bottom is for scouting so that spawn is not blocked.

Big feedback: you want to sneak on the straight line of the far wit space, if you keep track of enemy sight here, 7 hexes work a lot, but it is better to walk there, since it has a chocke point.

Big adorable: again, aim for the wit space flank, the other is easily spotted as spawning anything will see your mobi.

    Small adorable:
Same strategy applies, but don't rush it, being a small map, it is better reserved for once the defenses are withered down and the visibility is less, 7 hexes does wonders and can win really easy if the opponent doesn't expect it. The reason that you don't rush is that he wit space will have an unbuffed soldier, and while a sniper can take it out, it is better for it to move on its own so you can sneak.

Then again I don't build armies, but you should never build more than 2 mobies.

That's me on mobi, but strategies in general, you live you learn, don't over rush runners, that strat is almost never effective around more experienced players (it still is a bit on long nine, but not much elsewhere)

Using Mobi for guerrilla tactics is pretty cool, but I feel like I'd rather be using Mobi to advance units.

EDIT: Thanks for your insights, Khamous! I'll keep them in mind when I play. It's troubling to hear about Glitch, since I'm running League games and can't avoid playing there, but if I figure something out, I'll post about it.

Watch the juuicetin v drawwall hat was posted some pages back and I quoted again less pages back. Draw used the rush and juuicetin managed to counter it. I just prefer avoiding it.

Am I the only one who enjoys smaller maps? I play so many games that it becomes a chore to remember where the enemy is on the bigger maps.
