Blizzard is much bigger company and they keep updating and balancing even 14 years old Starcraft every now and then. Starcraft II having balance changes almost on monthly basis... and not to mention Diablo III on which they worked 12 years... I could be wrong but these are just my thoughts.
Yes, you're right BUT it would make people to use other units more often which would deepen strategy. I can't say I already get bored with this game... not even close, but having more choices then spam runners all the time again and again just feels a bit... I don't know... monotonous.
Getting into the game finally. My strategy of 2 soldiers, 1 shark, 1 medic, 1 runner seems to work. Sometimes throwing a sniper in the bunch. I won 3 out of 5 and I'm now on gifted league. How low on leagues is that? Don't think it's that good of a league, but does anyone know the order or how you can jump to another league?
I agree but perhaps we are missing something. There has to be a counter to runeor spam. And if not there needs to be one. Maybe they should make a new unit to deal with it. It's definitely way to early to be doing any of that yet I agree. But hopefully stuff like that will be implemented eventually. It would be cool to see a new unit introduced Down the road and to see the game balanced overtime. I would be very curious to see how nurfing the runner would affect gameplay. But I'm not ready to say that it should be done or not. Another thought: do you guys think the player who starts the round has a advantage? If so is there a way around this?
I don't expect they'll balance game or add new unit to do that in few days after release. While I wait for ANY changes/updates, I'm happy with this game as it is right now. So let me restate my thoughts... MAYBE it would be better if they released game with runners having 4 hex range or/and making bases having at least 7 points because it would give you enough time to build up your more valuable units (which would deepen strategy for both sides) while opponent trying to rush you with runners. But on the other hand.. that may prolong finishing single game.. I don't know.. I just thinking loud.. and... Sorry for spamming this thread
You guys think runners are overpowered? Like I said, I feel like I'm the only one that uses them frequently in the nearly 50 games I've completed. Most people go with heavy units and only build runners every now and then to pick off my runners that are out of range from their other units. They're definitely not hard to counter. You have to think about how many points the opponent spending when making runners every turn, moving them, and attacking with them. All you need is some map vision to make sure your opponent doesn't sneak around to places you don't want them to be (next to your sniper, on your bonus hex, by your medic, at a spot out of range from your units that's next to your base). Having map control and knowing what your opponent is doing is half the game. Edit: Just won my first game by blocking the spawns and killing all of my opponent's units on the map xP.
Yes and no. If he start with runner on small map and go for 5 hex.. then he could be in disadvantage because you can take it easily with yours and backup with higher unit. So he loses 1 move and a runner and you just lose 2 moves and have your runner up for 5 hex sight.. On bigger maps its not that important IMO
I agree. I don't think runners are overpowered. They are definitely a potent unit, but with a strong defense you can destroy them as they come. I think my unit production is pretty balanced and creating soldiers can demolish runners and will be a better investment in the long run. As they build more disposable runners while you build stronger units, eventually you can just overrun them. Edit: I don't think runners would be useless with 4 squares of movement/ range. Still would see a lot of action. I am up for the possibility as long as you tweak some of the levels to adjust for it.
I always thought they were at a disadvantage since I could move in a runner and see everything they've done before I do anything. I can see a part of their strat (what they're building, if they're buffing with the medic, what side they sent the heavy to, etc).
Bombshell and start playing defensively and let them come to you. Example of my game play outwitters://viewgame?id=ag5vdXR3aXR0ZXJzZ2FtZXIQCxIIR2FtZVJvb20Yg-gtDA I think who ever start moving their men out of the fog has a disadvantage unless they have some way of backing up their men.
I agree I would not want them to touch anything unless it became very obviously that it needed to be done. Right now this game is incredible. By the way I'm closing in on number one in my gifted league. Only a few more points to go. anyone know how many points you need to be promoted up? As for the special units I think they are all very good. I think the brain is the best for my style. Mobi is very hard to use but amazing if you do it right. Bombshell is great for zoning.
@backtothis I saw few pages before where you said you didn't find any good use of Scrambler jet... Just take a look at my my game with Juuicetin (my last turn exactly) and see how good Scrambler is and how stupid I am! :S outwitters://viewgame?id=ag5vdXR3aXR0ZXJzZ2FtZXIQCxIIR2FtZVJvb20YzaEoDA I still can't believe I lose that game. What I have done to his runner was meant to be done on his soldier. Btw Juuicetin is a real deal! Great game!
