Yeah, we'll see how it turns out. I just want to the game out since it sounds extremely unique. I've only made the super-unit twice so far in the 25+ games I've finished. It's too easy to lose them and get screwed over for a few turns. Mobi is only useful for teleporting snipers to the front line from what I've seen. The cannon guy is pretty sick at defending on small maps if you can get it transformed and maxed to 4 hp. Not sure if the brain guy is good for anything yet..haven't ever tried him out or have him used against me.
I will be most surprised if that's the case, I feel like I'm just starting to get a feel for different strategies. If anything, I suspect my biggest weakness at the moment might be being too defensive since I find it hard to gauge when it's a good time to go in for the kill. As for the map, I merely picked the first one that came up; whatever the outcome, shoot me an invite on a map of your choice after?
How many games to get promoted, I went from master league to fluffy league cause my bro got my iPod will I was gone...?
Yeah, we still have a while to go for the match. Will do. Edit: Looks like you got me. Alright, I think I've learned my lesson now after losing multiple times on that map. Not going to try to rush the base anymore. Smarter playing a defensive game on that one.
I'm having a problem/bug. What's happening is that at the top of my games list, there is a game that appears to be highlighted as if it's my turn, but says their turn. Also, it says my opponents name but instead of my name, it says "Waiting for More...". When I click on the game, it crashes. Anyone having this issue? Love this game by the way!!!
Someone brought up the same bug on the official forums and they said that they were working on an update to fix it. I just ignored that game since it kept crashing on entry, and it eventually went away.
You know, that match, for me, really illustrated a very interesting aspect to this game: there's an extremely fine line between a winning and losing strategy at times. Had I not been within reach to deliver that single killing blow, you then would have been in a highly dominant position and would have almost certainly won. I can't exactly put my finger on it yet, but it's almost like you need to lose a little at first to win in the end. But that's not really it... More like it's all about timing. Or: if you can't finish it off, don't attack it. And that goes for both units and base. Not sure though. But interesting food for thought. Do send me another invite, was fun.
Scouting, counting hexes, and planning how many action points you'll need are all pretty important. I just needed one more point to bring my medic to that gap in order to finish my wall. No way I could have done it and taken out those 2 units at my base with only 7 points. Sometimes, an extra point saved up from previous turns will be the game changer. Extremely hard planning future turns in this game though. I'll get you next time! My gf just beat me for the first time online after losing nearly 10 friendly matches. Counted the hexes wrong and thought one of her units wasn't in range. I was wrong. Oh man, I've lost 3 of my last 5 finished friendly matches!
I get the feeling planning ahead is the real key though, don't you think? I used to play a lot of chess years ago, so I do it instinctively in strategy games like this. This is a lot less complex than chess. Once you work out the "rules" and possibilities (I had no idea it was possible to build a "wall!") it shouldn't be that difficult to see at least 2, maybe 3 moves ahead. Of course, there's always the possibility of not seeing the whole board to deal with too.
Yeah, once you're able to plan ahead effectively, you've pretty much mastered the game. It just comes down to making smart decisions from there. There are always risks to take though. Edit: Just realized even the placement matches got reset if you had already won some of them. Oh man, that sucks. Started 3 more league games since that's all I had room for. The other 7 people I'm playing league games with have all bailed. Using the other half of my 20 slots for friendly matches.
Yeah I keep losing to backtothis because I'm playing more offensively than defensively, which in the long run makes things difficult. I am amazed at how simple, yet complex this game really is. Could we get some hints as to some of the ideas for future factions?
I just got placed into Super Titan league after going 5/5 in my second set of placement matches. That can't be right, can it?
Looks like the people who are still playing the game are for real now. I finished and won 2 of my placements already, which took me release night until last night for me to accomplish before the league reset. I started those two games within the past two hours. I actually won one of them by shooting a guy's base with a sniper twice in a row on Long Nine. Guess he didn't watch any replays. First time doing that xP..you actually only have to move the sniper 3 hexes in order to be in range of your opponent's base on that map.
Don't know, as I won 3/5 and am in fluffy league... However the game may take into account who you are playing and thier skill
I think you are right about the players, however I have some matches going with people who have (I suspect) deleted the app, so 3 more says till I'm clear
Yeah, I have 7 league matches that haven't been touched in 2 days or more. Guess that's a lot of wins heading my way? Lol.
Ok I just sent backtothis and gabrien matches. I have a feeling I'm gonna have my ass handed to me, but hell, I might learn something
Looks pretty even to me right now! Got my revenge on CroRock xP. I think I've literally completed 10-15 games today. Everyone on TA makes their moves so fast, lol. My last 5 games are all wins again! Also, I finished 2 more placements..just one left. I feel like the opponents I'm getting matched up with have all been pretty bad, meh. Haven't had a placement that's taken over 15 turns yet, so yeah. Pretty excited to finish up and play a few Masters. 221 views and no posts by anyone else for me in the strategy thread -__-: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=143433 So far, it feels like I'm the only that starts off every game and generally every turn by making scouts. Most people I play tend to make soldiers or use their points moving units around. Haven't played a defensive game yet because of this. Besides calculating/planning stuff for yourself, it's also important to attempt to use up your opponents points by making him catch your runners. This frequently costs 3 action points (make runner, move, attack) or forces him to move a heavy unit back. This way, you also never lose map vision.
Here's the first match between backtothis and I. I put up a fight at the beginning, but backtothis's experience clearly showed toward the end: outwitters://viewgame?id=ag5vdXR3aXR0ZXJzZ2FtZXIQCxIIR2FtZVJvb20Y4IQtDA
