Yeah, I'm the opposite, something about stabbing people with a fork and having an obese carebear slap people around makes me happy inside. :D

Several of the other beta testers are stronger than me, but I am 13-1 since the game opened up and have not purchased a single special unit. I have won a few games because of opponents missuse of special units.

Some of the stronger beta testers disagree with me I know, but I think its pretty rare that the special units decide games.

If your tight on cash (really, really tight on cash), there really isnt much reason to unlock everything.

Special units can make or break a game if used properly/misused.

Start more games. The time limit is 7 days PER MOVE. I just ignore chat from people complaining about the pace of games, because the whole point of asynchronous games is to move when YOU feel like it.

Everyone Is allowed to have their own opinion. Mine is still the same it takes too long to finish one game and I have several going on at the same time. This is the only reason why I'm not spending the $3 bucks. All im saying is I hope they add a new faster paced mode later on or something. And I'm not one of those people who message to say hurry up, I respect people's time but I wish there were more modes available.

Haha, well ArtNJ, not like we didn't get messages in HA saying things like "go go!" too. Some people just don't understand the point of an async game.

You indeed are entitled to your opinion, just realize that it is the same as someone wanting to be able to pause or slow down a MMO or online FPS game. It is not in the nature of the type of game, just like async games are not about fast and/or real-time play. Generally then, just like if people didn't like the fast paced nature of an online FPS and thus wouldn't play one, playing an async game when you don't like the async model seems silly.

Here's my problem. I have no issues with asynchronous play. However, I like to learn a game first before starting a bunch of online matches. A game with only drawn out online matches and no solo mode or other faster paced mode to learn the game creates a big hurdle for me. It's the only thing keeping me from playing this game right now.

Perhaps they should make a fourth matchmaking option called quick play which would be for people who have the time and want to play a faster game back and forth.

I get that async play is about playing when you feel like it, but I'm a little bit annoyed that one of my league placement games has been stuck for a day because the guy doesn't want me to win. We were playing back and forth, move-for-move for like an hour. Now his base has two points left and I have a solider on both sides of it. It's basically a checkmate, and he just suddenly stopped playing. Really annoying. There should be certain options for tighter time constraints.

Had a pretty awesome game yesterday where a guy completely blew it and allowed me to win. He had a solider with two HP by my base and had attacked it once, bringing it down to 2 HP. I put a scout next to him and attacked him once. When it was his turn, instead of attacking my base and finishing me he decided to, for whatever reason, kill my scout instead of taking another shot at my base. I was able to kill him and finish of his base on the next turn.

I wouldn't disagree that an interactive tutorial wouldn't be a nice feature. When I first played HA, I started 10 random games and had more than enough to do at any one time to figure the game out pretty quickly.

As for league matches, it would make sense to have tighter timers on those as they are the most likely matches to have sore losers who just wait out the clock when they know they can't win. When stats and rankings are on the line some people can become real poor gamers.

THIS! It's so annoying that they know you're going to win, so they purposely don't play. I think for League games, there should be some stricter time limits (Like Ben pointed out).

That's my point it shouldn't be asynchronous! I've played these same type of games and I feel this model does not suit it. I don't play FPS or MMO by the way lol. But back to my point some games work with asynchronous like all those zynga games. This does not, it involves strategy. If you have several games going over several days the strategy is compromised because it's so spread out, you forget what you were doing. I want to play a game that is entertaining, right now it just feels like a chore waiting for moves. It's too bad cause I think it's a great game just needs some minor tweaks

Lots of people are only playing this game precisely because its asynch. I hate games like this that arent asynch. Each to their own.

If you want to play it in real time, you just need a friend to play with. Or you can start 4 games at once. Chances are that 1 or 2 of those folks will "stay with you" for 4-5 moves. Then start another group of 4. Eventually, once you have enough games, there will always be someone that is willing to stay with you for a while, and random moves to keep you busy in between. Sure, they probably wont finish an entire game in one sitting; if you want that, you need to find a buddy to play it with.

For me, if it wasn't asynch I wouldn't play. The model works great for me.

A tutorial against a scripted bot would definitely have helped me.

Is anyone else experiencing a glitch that throws you back to the main screen of the iPhone? I have a for S. This is happening a lot.

On another note I would love to have a mode with a short timer say two minutes. Why not just make a mode with an adjustable timer.

So basically the game is perfect except for could use a couple things. An option for a speed game with an adjustable timer or say 5 minutes per move. A silhouettes of enemies last known position. What else?

If you want practice, it's kind of dorky but you could set up a lot of pass and play games against yourself and rotate through them, playing both teams (make like 5-10 so you don't remember the details on each.) You won't learn all the tricks but it's a pretty good way to experiment. It's also probably going to give you a better challenge than whatever AI they could come up with on a limited budget.*

    * AI on games like this are really hard to script- how do you account for all of the possible strategies, how do you program it to think two moves ahead, etc... So usually it just comes down to letting the AI cheat to give it an fighting chance, e.g. giving it extra money or moves or letting it ignore fog of war. That really doesn't give you the human player much help when it comes to learning strategy for multiplayer.

have a 4s as well, and have quite a few crashes, mostly when starting a game, but other times as well. Also have issues with notifications showing multiple times then not showing at all. Very random. (know they are working on the 2nd issue)

Even with these minor issues, live this so much, was huge into HA and this blows it out of the water. The teams being similar is okay, but love LOVE the wit system, so perfect. Very well balanced.

Also, I really like the snipers. Very good for defense. People rush your base and move into range of 2-3 snipers and are gone next turn.
