I don't understand the comparisons to FTL... Other than a surviving in space theme, it doesn't seem to share much with FTL.
For me, besides the space survival, it's also that I am super duper excited for both of them to be released.
I can appreciate that. I play FTL an unhealthy amount. I guess if I had an iPad I'd be much more excited for it. I'm still in mild shock Out There is launching tonight.
Yeah, I know what you mean, without any form of combat it's not FTL (and that's a good thing now that FTL is about to launch on iPad). But it's easier to compare it to FTL than any other game.
I think it is a bit closer to Shift, but a bit lighter and brighter and less micro-management. (I always wonder why packing so many males and females would not result in some other activities) I am not sure most elements other than H, He, Si, Fe would be useful. I guess I have not played enough. Also, I find that I can catch other abandoned ships, fortunately, I have yet to meet any Genestealers(TM) inside... Only complaint: When you start a game, most titles will ask you to choose a new game or continue (okay, seeing the tutorial option is fine) and then heads straight into play, but not here. The UI is not that smooth.
O looks cool! Haven't really been a computer gamer since AQW started sucking, and was never a steam person. But thanks anyway I remember seeing a TA post about this.
I believe it's also available through GOG.com (DRM-Free). I think that's where I bought mine a while back. The main reason I play it so much, beside it's totally excellent and unique combat system, is because I don't have a gaming PC. Yet FTL runs great on my POS Lenovo laptop. Many iPad owners not familiar or new to FTL have a seriously good treat in store come launch. Still pinching myself for Out There. Killercow, it's a relief to hear that the difficulty is tough. Bring it on! It'll probably be a really late night for me tonight!
I was wondering the same thing. I checked google, Adventure Quest World. It looks like a lame card battle game. BTW thanks for the heads up about Drifter earlier in the chat. Looks like a great space sim! And now to get Out There... Goodbye!
Lucky, I have to wait till I get my 5S in March (March 1st mind you) when I get my $20 dollar gift card so I can play.
This is awesome! But sadly humans need to sleep... So goodnight, but I had this scenario that a thin was altering my ships files, and It took away something, and gave me something. Interesting result!
My first go. I never found a garden planet and had only one encounter that gave me a small amount of oxygen, so I eventually asphyxiated. Spoiler The Tau device requires Thorium and extends the range of your space folder. One thing I never saw anyone do in any playthrough video was drill/probe multiple times at a single location. I found this to be effective for drilling (got more of the same element(s)) but not so much for probing (got very little extra fuel after the first try).
