Has anyone else installed cryogenics + shared cryogenics? I was playing a game where I was attempting to explore every system in the galaxy and installing them did nothing for my ecosystem power level. Not sure if it's a bug or designed that way?
Very late on this one. Wasn't interested at all at the beginning. But I love sci-fi, good writing and roguelikes. Then another mention in the FTL article. And since I only got an iPhone, I jumped... and boy, am I in love and addicted. Soooooooo good! This, Cardinal Quest 2, Glorkian Warrior, Only One, I'm so happy about indie iPhone gaming at the moment. So satisfying experiences...
It might be that, but for me it's more of a conflict in its own right. Namely, I think there's too much randomness in terms of resources, enough to sabotage an otherwise good run. It's frustrating to play the game for an hour or so, translate most of the language, and then find that the stars are too far apart for you to continue going "southeast" toward the possible destinations and then slowly watch your luck dwindle as you backtrack trying to find a different path while not actually going to many new places in the process. In a roguelike, there's generally a lesson to be learned with each death and you have some way to play conservatively, here, short of hopping back and forth between systems with those refilling stations, every venture is a significant risk. It's a great concept, but could stand to be softened a bit in this case.
I think the lesson you may be missing is to make sure you have at least 2 space folder upgrades before the stars become too distant for you to reach.
Dropping News! Hey guys, I am just dropping an update from the dev which is that he is working on the PC version of Out There & that the new PC content will be in the mobile version!
Couldn't agree more. Way too much randomness and luck involved for my liking. You should be rewarded for making good decisions but the luck factor has just too much sway to make this an enjoyable game fir me. I never enjoyed it for that reason.
I felt that way too, until a couple runs opened my eyes up and I realized luck just wasnt as big a factor as I had first thought.
Thats the thing.. its really hard to explain.. Im not sure I have time to go back and look but you will see somewhere way back when the dev said that he can make it to the end most of the time, like 90% of the time or something, and yeah I realize he is the dev, but hes just a man, if he can do it (without exploits or anything) than anyone can learn to,
