thank mate I got a tip to dismantle the drill get to a planet dismantle the engine and build drill then drill and rebuild engines still on my way through the universe one step at a time 8)
This kind of tactic is also useful when running a ship chock full o' tech and you need room for consumables.
A great interview/roadmap of the devs of Out There (in French) http://ragemag.fr/carnet-de-bord-out-there-69133/
Thanks for mentioning this. I was able to translate this to English on my iPad by putting the URL in Google Chrome. It then asked me if I wanted an English translation. Edit: Even though reading the translated story was difficult, it was worth it. The struggle the developers went through to produce this beautiful labor of love is amazing. I hope the game succeeds as well financially as it does artistically.
It really is a must read. So much passion, love and frustration went into this project and I'm really happy that it is successful.
This game interests me, but I don't like strategy games. Actually, I don't have the patience to think things ahead in games. Also, when I see gameplay videos, I find it boring. However, the description of Out There matches what I look for in a game. I need your opinion guys
Was looking for a premium game to pick up at the start of this weekend. The main contenders for me were Out There, Mines of Mars, and Terraria. Mining has never been my thing, i still might give it another chance someday, but i ended up going with out there as i am more of a strategy gamer. Do not regret it at all the game is fantastic. Insane replayability, and to me a very good balance of strategy/luck to keep it interesting. Plus the menu screen is gorgeous! Have a couple questions (im sure they are in the thread somewhere but its too long to find them) - Can anyone explain to me exactly what power and ecosystem stats do? I think power increases fuel efficiency, not sure about ecosystem. When using an upgraded part, that needs an initial part to work, the upgraded part highlights blue when they are next to each other. Do they need to be next to each other to take affect? I dont get Cryonics, what exactly does it do? Also Omega, i think im missing something, what can i do with it besides repair? (If this is spoils anything then NVM i guess) Thanks & awesome game!
I've completed the game but the true blue ending but I'm still IMMENSELY enjoying re-playing it (after an unspeakable amount of hours). A true masterpiece. Every system hop feels like a Star Trek:TOS episode. Anyway, some answers. I think ecosystem represents oxygen efficiency (I'm not sure about the PLAIN cryonics but enhanced cryonics makes them better). Enhancements do not need to be adjacent to work, but if they are there is a HUGE gain. You see a blue connection if so. Omega has many uses: repair, can be used as a 25 value resources (He, Fe or O) and has other uses I won't spoil as well (but belive me, it's pretty important).
On the iPad, I can't scroll the map. My engines go further than the edge of the screen, and I'm stuck because I can't scroll around
That was an awesome read, thanks for sharing. Possibly one of the best post mortem/behind the scene ever. If possible, it made me even happier to have bought the game (for such a low price, pocket change really, I might add). I do hope they really make a lot of money, possibly direct linked to the amount of fun they gave me (they should be millionaire by now).
Is it really *that* bad ? I've heard there wasn't that many errors Anyway, for once I'm happy it's a french dev haha
It's a game of random events that doesn't allow you to plan too far ahead. Thus it's exactly what you are looking for. Spend the $4 now and enjoy or read 60 pages and other review sites to form your opinion.
