1) there may be some tendencies, but no absolutes (that I've found - I haven't kept a journal or been systematic). 2) not that I've seen, but see parens above. That would just make it too easy.
No, you get no upgrade from putting the ultraprobe next to the H probe. Not that I've ever noticed, I think the colour of stars has an effect on H/He collected though, yellow stars being best and white dwarfs/supernova being worst, as it would be with a real star.
Just had my best ever run. My new strategy seems to be working for me and wow, I thought I loved this game before, now I am even more addicted. I just need better luck with the aliens because I just got my high score and dont think I got 1 piece of new tech from the garden planets, only chance encounters... Also, best probing ever:
This game is a great Oregon Trail like game in space and is a lot of fun to keep playing. However, there are 2 things I would like to suggest for future updates. 1. It would be great if the current game was called quick play mode and there was an added mode where you could save your current state (including position, ship, cargo, everything) and revert to that save file at ANY time whether you die or not. Multiple save files and iCloud could be a Long Play mode. 2. Since you don't need all the screen real estate to move or navigate, it would be wonderful to have the option to play in portrait mode so we could play discretely and with one hand easier. Thanks for the great work, dev team!
Two observations come to mind. I think Spoiler the event where you are attacked by the enemy takes place at a point relative to the quantity of systems you have visited (not certain on this), so that should be taken into account. Additionally, visiting systems also carries the risk of a random event which causes your computer to lose schematics for technology (a very big deal relative to core tech like the space folder). Hence unnecessary travel is pretty much always a bad thing. Although people might not have a whole bunch of control over what they do and don't visit without great tech like the Spoiler Interferometer, which allows for the review of systems in telescope range to see their contents broken down as mineral rich planets, gas giants, garden planets, and 'anomalies' , so 'unnecessary' exploration in terms of what new systems to visit might not be so much a thing, smaller considerations such as when to gather fuel and resources come into play. Even with great tech, good ship levels to make travel reasonably comfortable, and good reserves of resources, those select random events can form one piece of a two-part puzzle that can end a game. I would only add that one of the moderately sized ships (I still haven't ever found the tree of life ship for some bizarre reason) become quite cramped if you stock them with the technology needed to normalize risks in later exploration. There's definitely no reason to add something like the Spoiler Death Seed until needed, but it seems like it might be worthwhile to stock up on tech leaving only the minimum space needed for consistent survival until such a point those special-case techs are required. Then, my thought would be to travel into the region where they are needed, take apart some of the less essential tech, and then build the special case tech at that point. For example, the attached ship. I've got pretty much no space to build things ( Spoiler other than Tao Stasis if I encounter a distance I cannot bridge, which will be installed at the expense of my ability to store Th ), but I do have a range of tech which is allowing me to move around efficiently and at minimum risk. It would be tricky to transition over to the Tree of Life ship, should I encounter it, as I cannot transport building material, and if I survive to head back to one of the longer distance endings I'm going to need to take some stuff apart to install certain required tech.
What if you have the ansible? Can't you avoid that event, or is that first time a random event that happens unavoidably? Making the ansible useless before that event...
I don't know, but that's an interesting point. As it turns out I've either never had the Ansible prior to that point, or haven't bothered installing it. So I'd definitely be curious to find out if the Ansible can somehow influence that event. Even then, if Spoiler encountering the enemy is relative to the number of systems they typically inhibit after being encountered, it seems like it would be quite tricky to dodge them since they inhabit pretty much everything, leaving you to rummage through the handful of planets they leave alone. Just based on rough experience, it seems to me like the logic might be for this event to take place after x systems are visited upon visiting the next unexplored system.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I'm not sure if a bug or something else, but I just had an epic game of Out There. I passed by the green ending going for the red one....and I had BOTH red and blue in my engine and telescope radius with an awesome ship and a ton of resources. BUT....I couldn't scroll down!!! So I couldn't select them...only stars in the same screen, unfortunately in the opposite side ((( This was on iPad, I generally play on iPhone and I can scroll. ???
You should be able to scroll on iPad. I've just checked and I can. I could have sworn I wasn't able to when I was playing it a short while ago though, maybe it's bugged?
Regarding the Spoiler enemy they appear when you get closer to the red/green section. Hence its best to explore as much as possible before.
They don't appear as you get closer, I'm more than positive it's scripted so they appear after certain amount of jumps no matter where you are.
Yeah nevermind they appear after a certain number of visited planets my bad - i m usually exploring a lot so it felt like they appeared whenever I got close
Dunno i d say stars. Almost made it again but lost right next to the red ending due to not beeing able of probing Stars
