Note that I never said that all games HAVE to include an easy mode. But that including an easier mode for younger, new-to-the-roguelike-genre or casual players could be a good idea.
Except for Double Dragon which I didn't like... those were a walk in the park, didn't even know they had an easier difficulty, oh well. I learn something new every day.
(Doom/Quake all had different difficulty levels) I think the problem is with iOS games if players get to a point where they get frustrated, its so easy to close the game and play one of your other 150 installed games instead. It must be difficult for devs, make it too easy and you read the constant 'i completed this 99c game in 2 hours, i want my money back....' complaints, make it too hard and people complain or move onto something else. Difficult to get a happy medium
Hence why different difficulty modes, if possible, can be a good thing But even an "easy-ish" game, but with great mechanisms and/or story is totally worth it. Thank god not all games are hard as nails, sometimes you just want to enjoy a good story and/or a good gameplay
Glowing blue line around tech icon of upgrade. It must be near it's equivalent basic tech ( aka interplanetary drill or how it's called near regular drill, advanced telescope near regular one etc; every tech that has requirements mentioned in text gives additional bonuses when places optimally )
Unbelievable. I'm a bit speechless that all the upgrades show "Status: Working" even when they don't have this blue outline, which I am seeing now for the first time. This seems like a major oversight.
They work without having to be adjacent, but they get a huge bonus is they do (the blue halo). Did wonders for me in a couple of games.
What?!?! I've been playing since it released last week and never knew this This is going to make play throughs from now on even more tactical. Thanks for the info.
Bought because Thefrost talked about the same feeling between this and waking mars. I can't resist when someone talk like that! I hope it will be localized in french one day. Fingers crossed
Just manage to reach the green ending... Note the blue halo outside the engines. It seems to be imperative that you need some big tech to survive.
Just FYI, the game IS in French and there is an English localization, being the dev French. Game is totally different from Waking Mars but yeah I can see it has the same 'feeling' regarding being alone in the space and interacting with new alien life forms. Both are great games. BTW, the more I play the game, the more is skyrocketing towards a serious candidate of my GOTY already. Trying to get the 'real/complete' ending, which I assume is RBG. Awesome game. Brutal, but awesome. If the dev want to put out DLC with additional 'stories' (I'm dreaming about something in the vein of Alien, abandoned space hulks, looking for original planets, deciphering ancient cultures and all that), he can already consider my money his own. A neat thing would be even trying to chase another being in the space, using tech to have vague hints of its passage, finding warp signatures and all that.
Le jeu est en français - le développeur d'origine est Français, tu as donc une version française sans fautes et d'excellente qualité ! (In english : Dev is french, game is french, woopeedeedoo life is awesome)
I like it so far. It can be brutal though. My first game was over fast. The second lasted a little longer but still, same outcome. In the third I found a new ship, with better fuel economy, but no telescope, and before I could find the materials to make one, I ran out of air. Frustrating.
AKA : "HOW I MINE FOR FISH ? " Hint : Read the previous pages, there's been numerous messages about gameplay and what to do
To reiterate what he said on the previous page, it would appear many upgrades are still "working" when non-adjacent but when they are (with glowing blue line), they seem to get even more of a bonus. For example, I noticed my jump radius nearly doubled when I put the tech and upgrade next to each other rather than just having both installed. Also to clarify, the "true" ending is red->green, not red->blue->green as someone said. Red->blue is it's own ending but not the "true" ending and stops the game there so you wouldn't be able to do all 3. I'm curious if there's a "hidden" ending out there, maybe for terraforming a certain amount of systems or using the death seed on a certain amount.. I hope they continue to support this game with some additional content (new tech/endings/ship types etc) But my ONE biggest request would be a "quick restart" option since so many runs end in failure.
I hope you like it as much as I do, there is a lot of exploration and discovery here like in Waking Mars with an magnificent story too, I love this game. The dev just said on Twitter that it will be on the next update
