In fact there are several technologies that allow you to jump further. Depending on the tech, it's "further" or "even further". I've just played a game in which I had 11-12 slots with technology and 6-7 slots for resources. I was spending around 45 fuel per jump I died because I couldn't find a place to gather fuel, so I took the risk of a crazy jump, but was screwed
Yes you can. Just drag and drop resources from one to the other. You can also tap the equipment on the one you are leaving behind and dismantle it to get some slightly rarer resources out of it before abandoning.
There's a dialog _explaining_ you leave behind all the resources of your old ship! How could we _not_ have interpreted this to mean there's no way to transfer them?! The game is already obtuse enough as it is, but this "little oversight"...*shaking head* I think it was its dodgey touch detection convinced me it was impossible when I tried it a couple times just to check...*grousing* Well, maybe I'll play a bit more now, but I still think it's pretty ridiculous that you're never more than a handful of moves away from death yet the odds of obtaining the resource you need remain perfectly indifferent to yielding an interesting, enjoyable gaming experience—I _don't_ think losing is fun _when it's so cheap_: a roguelike like Shiren the Wanderer sometimes slaughtering you for going up an extra floor, fine, but sending crippling events on your first move because you couldn't be bothered to craft a more cohesive gaming engine, then try to pass that off as a feature? That really is for a niche audience of masochists. Which I hate to say because I'm all for premium, well-crafted titles like this one in other respects.
29 pages of comments and I'm really surprised that no one has made the connection to Oregon Trail, set in space with far more random events and story. I know FTL got those comparisons a lot, but Out There is a much closer cousin. Luckily for me, that's exactly the kind of game I want to play right now.
I went to the green arrow and it ended wtf.. Once u get the hang of it the game quite simple.. Got to thank the forumer who gave the advice never visit all planets..
Please correct me, but does this have any space combat (like FTL for example)??? I scanned over TA's Twich Stream, and couldn't find any...? :/ As I said please correct be if this game does have combat, and if it doesn't I may have to pass for now... Also forgive me if I'm missing something completely!! (Just don't want to fork out a bit of money to be disappointed! I'm sure most of you have felt the same way! Other than that, the game does look amazing! ~Thanks
This was mentioned a few times at the start of the thread No combat, just exploration, choose your own adventure, resource management, Crafting new tech........ Is this not enough? The game is fantastic and doesn't need combat, with the atmosphere and style of the game combat wouldn't really fit either.
Ok ok, I see your point and was just expecting combat for some reason, that's all... Will have to give this a go sometime SOON anyways! (Is looking awesome!) Thanks for the clarification!
***Spoiler*** Does anyone know how to survive when the enemy ships appear? I always encounter them with heavy fuel reserves but after the encounter, every single gas giant is marked as "occupied" so I eventually run out of fuel and die.
I'm glad it doesn't. After some playthroughs of figuring out how to fight optimally, the combat was a mere chore in FTL. Very little depth in that regard. Don't get me wrong. The randomness itself is not my problem. There absolutely can be things breaking randomly, but it should be clear if you're to do something that might cause that (like I'm perfectly fine with the gas giants telling you "potential hull danger" or the standard resource drain from flying to a new system, which is also indicated before you actually do it). It's just that these "bam! haha RNG gotcha" moments that come completely out of nowhere are nothing but bad and frustrating design.
So I learned a bunch of language words and came across aliens that would ask me to give them Omega, yet the only option I have to give them is Iron (Fe), even though I have Omega. Then by giving them Iron, it just says they didn't like it. How do I give them what they want?
