And may I say it's about freaking time?! I've been waiting for folders forever. Now I can stop deleting apps not because I don't have storage space, but because I don't have springboard space. This is way overdue, but I'm glad they finally got off their butts and implemented it. One less albatross around the iPhone's neck. The multitasking looks awesome too, but it sounds like apps have to be written for background awareness, at least for certain things. Still, it'll be awesome to not have to have a game reload whenever I get a call. This is one update that can't come fast enough.
I agree 100%. Particularly if the iPad is going to have any success of being a tool for using at work- you can't go scrolling for apps looking for stuff on your springboard. And with 64Gb space? How can you NOT have some sort of folder system...
It's not the iPod that's dumb, it's Apple. As more apps incorporate 4.0, the AppStore will love iPod touch 1G owners, then iPhone EDGE and so on.
It sounds like they've learned from the problems the jailbreaking community has been facing for the past few years. I could never stand Backgrounder because it absolutely murdered my battery life (this was on a 3G, but I doubt the 3GS would fair that much better), so I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
im wondering what the ipod out is about, it showed it on 1 of the pics but idk if they talked about it
The thought of having over 2,100 apps on my iPod touch for the same time is something I can't describe haha
Man, i'm kinda bummed about having a Second Gen iPod Touch now. This really sucks! Will we older gen users still get folders?? That is the most important update for me. This might be the software up to make me go unjailbroken. I only used it for multitasking, folders, and SBSettings (which i'm pretty sure stays with the software if you restore from a backup in iTunes.)
Read a post in MacRumors from a guy using an iPhone 3G that he did folders just fine. So I guess the 2G iPod touch is safe as well. Not sure for the first gen devices though.
