App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store. Finally! Looking forward to all the new stuff on it I hope it has better multidisplay support. I run XBMC on my Mac Mini on a 55inch LCD and also have a 24inch monitor close to it. Would be nice to finally shut off a monitor and not have it use one as a second display. I'm currently switching cables in the back of the Mac Mini. It's annoying - you think a simple feature like that which is an expected basic feature on Windows PCs would be there for Macs.
I'm bummed. My 1st gen MacBook at work is not worthy. It requires a Core 2 Duo or newer. I'll install it at home tonight, but I could use some of those new features at work too. Oh well. I'd request a new Mac, but doing so would also mean giving up control of my computer, which is why I've been sticking with the old black MacBook.
Nope...unfortunately it does not. It really sucks Apple can't put in a quick configuration such as this. It's been talked about in the Apple.com forums quite a few times and I sure have requested it in Apple's feedbacks. Switched to Macs last year and never going back to Windows...but it's things like this that makes me miss Windows a little.
I'm about halfway through downloading now. Not super impressed with the new Mac models they announced today, particularly the mini. Mac Mini $600 Apple Keyboard $70 Apple Trackpad $70 and now Apple Superdrive $70 Come on Apple! Way to make the Mac Mini as unattractive as possible.
Downloaded and installed. Reversed scrolling is very weird. Good thing you can change that. Oh and btw, Jon Siracusa's review is out and his reviews are really nice and indepth. http://arstechnica.com/apple/reviews/2011/07/mac-os-x-10-7.ars
Its awesome, I'm really loving it... I've got a few questions: 1. Does versions work with Microsoft office 2011? 2. I bought my iWork before the mac app store came out... Is it possible to update that to have the lion features? 3. Is there a way to quit applications from mission control? Thanks! EDIT: Nevermind, the iWork is updated from normal software update.
I'm holding off as I have a few projects on the go that will need completing soon...plus I have yet to find out if Omnisphere runs without any problems, along with Logic 9...though I'd expect it to being as Apple make Logic!
Well, this is annoying. First thing I noticed is that the "mission control" feature they replaced expose with sucks. Now all the windows overlap and minimized windows don't appear at all. Holding down a left click on a dock icon no longer brings up the app expose window, it just functions as a right click. Launchpad currently seems like a silly addition and for some reason for the first time ever the chess game can not be deleted because it's "required by OS X". Well I figured out how to view minimized windows. Right click on the dock icon and select "view all windows" or select the app and hit shift, control and the down arrow at the same time. I don't know why mission control doesn't show minimized windows since this method is extremely convoluted and a huge step backwards from Snow Leopard.
I actually really like the mission control, as it keeps everything organized. What I do is put each application into a different "desktop" or space. Then, it all comes out in mission control
Spaces is never something I used because I have a dual monitor setup. I just don't understand why they would remove minimized windows from the all inclusive expose/mission control view and force you to take extra steps to access those windows without reopening them. Mission Control is supposed to show you everything that's open, right? Why would minimized windows be excluded from that?
I don't have Lion yet, but I always have found Expose in Snow Leopard only of limited value because I typically have so many windows open that Expose is just completely ridiculous to try to use. At least from what I see, Mission Control looks like a massive improvement.
Sure, it does a great job at managing your windows by app and integrating the spaces feature as long as you have more then three apps open and none of your windows are minimized.
I have a few annoying problems with Lion. 1. The older version allowed me to swipe with 3 fingers to the left and I got a nice window to select different apps. I really liked it. 2. Having less than 3 programs open when you run Mission control the windows overlap. That's really annoying. Would be nice if there was an option so it always kept the programs separated. Like if I have Safari and Chrome opened up with several pages on each, it looks like one jumbled mess. 3. Launch Pad. Several of my programs in the application folder aren't showing up in Launch Pad. MacPar Deluxe is one of them as well as an NZB proggy I use. Why aren't they showing up?!? Now I'm wondering what other apps aren't showing up in Launch Pad The rest of the things I hate are default settings you can thankfully change the settings for like the crappy 2 finger swipe to switch pages which doesn't work very well in other apps, and the scroll bars always disappearing. I like some of the new features in Lion, but at the same time, some of the new features are making me hate the new OS a bit also. That Launch Pad thing is annoying me at the moment
If everything is not in launchpad all you have to do is open up the applications folder, select everything in the folder, and drag and drop them to the launchpad icon. Next time u run launchpad the apps that werent already in there will be there in the last page.
I absolutely love the whole new fullscreen thing they got going in Lion. Reading emails with no clutter is a dream. However, I must say that the software is riddled with bugs. I'm expecting some software updates to be coming out pretty soon.
