The question is why are the games going 3.0 only? Can't the games offer extended features if 3.0 is available and just not have those if it isn't? For many games the answer to this is yes they can, for instance just don't support multiplayer over bluetooth if 3.0 isn't there. Being a developer you will know that this is not a difficult thing to do. The bigger question comes when games start appearing for newer models only, not just firmware, but the same question would remain, keep backwards compatibility, offer better features where available, e.g. lower quality 3d rendering on slower devices, less lighting etc. Jailbreakers complaining things not working, well tough, they have done something unsupported with their devices. People with cracked apps having problems? good, they deserve their whole device to become a brick.
I'm with you on that one. I'm happy with 2.2.1 too. It's not worth the risk of loosing my favorite apps.
I upgraded to 3.0 the day it came out, and I've yet to find one app that won't work on it. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky one's.
