Who was offering to give Pavel tutoring regarding Game Center implementation? In the past I offered to handle English-Portuguese translation. I have extensive Magic the Gathering background and I'm familiar with things like rules consistency (in regards to the wording of the rules on the cards).
Me - I'll help him if he runs into problems. (Unfortunately, due to my civil work, I don't have any time to finish my tutorial - only the sources and a quick summary are available.)
He told me to "unpack and drag the .app into the library tab", but I'm at work now. Will that work...? I thought apps had to be in the .ipa format for them to be added to the library. Will iTunes "compile" the Orions.app folder into an app when dragged into the library...? Give it a try. Edit: I'm an idiot. I forgot for a second I have TeamViewer, duh! Logged into my computer, dragged the Orions.app folder into iTunes and sure enough, it shows up as an app in the App Library. The icon is blank, though. Weird. I'll find out if it worked (ie, will it sync into my phone AND run?) when I get home.
It most prolly won't. Pavel has just written back that it's not an ad-hoc but a development build. I think in order to be able to actually deploy it on my two registered iOS devices, I'd need his private key in my keychain. (Dunno, as I haven't done this myself - always did the ad-hoc way instead.)
I've been playing in Duel mode and am VERY happy with it so far. It's even better than the WinMo version (has more new cards). Haven't run into bugs yet; that is, I think it's pretty much ready for release. I'll post you more info if and only if Pavel allows me to do.
Keep us apprised, please. I may also wind up in the beta group and would like to be in a position to offer feedback, if needed. I have been a professional game designer for many years, so I expect I would be able to contribute towards a successful launch.
Just sent a long mail to Pavel on the new and the old (missing) cards and questions on balance. I'll let you all know when there is some public info. The custom deck mode works wonderfully in duel mode - just like on Windows Mobile, but, of course, at a much higher resolution. The icons themselves aren't optimized for Retina screen but, IMHO, it isn't that big a problem as antialiasing is applied.
Then, you'll have to wait until Pavel comes up with an ad-hoc build. Hope he does - I don't like (tethered) jailbreaking as I'm afraid of not being able to boot the phone in when my MacBook Pro isn't around.
Yup, it should be - however, it just can't be deployed without jailbreaking and installing an app from Cydia whose name shouldn't be uttered here
Continued playing the game... There're TONS of new cards in there. It'll take quite a lot of time to learn them all. So far, the AI seems to be much better than in the WinMo version; for example, it knows the „Diablos heal and bump up each other so go quickly for double Diablos and you've won” trick and the like.
Thanks for all the updates you are giving us! I can't wait to get my hands on the game. I wonder how many cards in total it will have? Anyway, enjoy O2 an hope to have a few games if they ever implement multiplayer.
So for sure no Retina? That's a shame. Either way, MoreGames games tend to look pretty darn good anyways.
No retina should be fine as long as it has anti-aliasing. Sad to see not too many games even supporting that
I just really, really, REALLY hope they don't screw the pooch this time. The number 1 priority for a game like Orions should be multiplayer. It builds a community around the game, helps spread the word, etc. A proper marketing campaign it is #2. I can't help but feel they'll ignore BOTH the fact that less than half a dozen people know this game is about to come out is a pretty bad sign.
