Maybe you can turn off the in-game music or reduce the loudness to zero and play your own music in the background. Works with a lot of apps. But I agree. Listening to your own music should be a standard setting for todays games, as well as colorblind modes, fast switching and other stuff. I am a bit riddled... O2 seems to have quite some text. Hope it is readable on retina/iPad devices and not too pixelated. Getting my iP5 (or 4GS) as soon as it is released. But that's apples fault. They should have made a switch for 2 different resolutions (old iDevices / retina devices) until it's absolute standard.
Yup, with anti-aliasing on both Retina and iPad screens, it's acceptable and much-much better than what one can expect from non-antialiased, pixel-doubled screenshots. (I've posted quite a few of them on both iOS and WinMo, the latter being non-antialialiazed, some months ago.) Nevertheless, while it certainly bugs me that the game's graphics isn't high-res, the game itself is still very nice and makes one forget all the low-res graphics - particularly if you can play human opponents. Then, it's like chess - you don't apy attention to how the actual chess graphics look like but concentrate on the game and the strategy itself.
Nope - I just need to wait for the official version to hit the AppStore as Pavel doesn't have the latest version signed with the ad-hoc certficate I could deploy onto my iPads and I didn't want to force him to waste time on creating such a version for me.
Funny, 'cause in this moment I am leaving. But this thread was more than cool. Guess, my mission here just ended.
Wow I can't wait for this to come out, I feel like I've been waiting forever. And I only have to wait 2 days now that they've announced the release date. But, I hope I have some people to play against with a release date announcement within 48 hours of the release date... hopefully there will at least be some post-release marketing.
It's been a very long wait Heh. I just realized how long ago I made this post. Good thing I am a patient dude. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=4254 I'll post some relevant info tomorrow gleaned from playing the beta and I'll alert Meneisyys he's welcome to make it part of the guide if he wants. I am soooooooooooooo looking forward to playing online and am still gifting this to 4 (count 'em) peeps. Two buddies and my two kids.
Price points Since I am gifting 4 copies, I've been a little antsy about the price. I expect O2 to go for $4.99 and anything more would be somewhat disappointing. Although this version is far superior to O:LoW, $4.99 is already a premium price. Will I pay more? Yes. Even though my expectation is for a $4.99 price point, I guess even $6.99 would be reasonable. I would hope O:LoW is repriced at $0.99 or even free to get players on board. Anybody else have any conviction/feelings on price points?
Pretty sure it will be $4.99 with maybe a miraculous sale at 2.99, even tho we all know the only way for this game to be a major success would be .99
SE is ostensibly free (freemium) but if you're serious about it, then you're almost automatically going to pay up. I bought $5 worth of Crystals and have gotten my money's worth in entertainment. Haven't played it in weeks, but wore it out quite a bit. At a $0.99 price point, there is absolutely no incentive for Chillingo to publish, for iMore to sign with Chillingo etc., etc. My 2 cents.
i never thought there was any need in the app store anyways. Its not like Chillingo is advertising anywhere for this title
I'd be be amazed if Chillingo didn't advertise O2 because that is their raison d'etre. Don't forget, they're owned by EA now, so there's a ton of money behind them. There's a chance the game could be huge now that it's multiplayer. And if they want to ensure the hugeness of the MP aspect, they will need to raise awareness as quickly and as much as possible (I hope).
Never did I throw a real dime/cents on this and switches classes twice so far in SE. I guess I have dug enough time with the AI... We will soon know if Orions 2 would be up this week, or not. I won't hold my breath for this but if it happens to be out, I am buying (sooner or later).
Since when does chillingo advertise any of their published title? I cant remember that they did anything with their recent releases. But they must have spend big pr money on putting a link to this thread. Thoose millions surely came directly from ea. And there is no chance, because neither the publisher nor the developer care. Did no one notice the decrease of game quality of their products? Se is successfull because its freemium, its universal, its high res and not an ancient winmo port with sd graphics. The question is why should they succeed now with an outdated product? Because there is now multiplayer? Why should somebody who never played o1 pay 4,99 for o2 instead playing se for free? How are they suppose to attract new customers? I cant see any efforts that the dev or the pub really care. It will be a cash in of the fans and thats it.. At least they broke orions1 with that annoying flickering, so there is a reason to buy o2 hehe.. As for a releaseprice tag.. 1 dollar or 2 at most if you even catch a glimpse of a bigger audience.. Make it 5 and they apparently did not notice that premium means quality nowerdays if they want to get out of the niche they are in.
Yep - I tend to think that $2.99 is a good price for it. That price is low enough to attract people who would casually pay to play on a whim, but high enough to place it in or near the 'premium' billed price point. $4.99 is probably where it will end up though. Either way, they need to market the hell out of it and work to capture and build on their playerbase. I would price it low and have targeted, paid expansion decks that were carefully introduced on 2-3 month intervals. The timing would renew / keep interest going and the new content would revitalize the playerbase and attract new people. $.02
