I'm just guessing, but yeah, when he dealt with Chillingo for O1, it might have included all sequels.
Everybody is not hating on Shadow Era. If they were, there wouldn't be over 500,000 users. No matter how good an app is, there will be those that do not like it, there will be detractors and some will be vocal. It's the nature of the beast. I am prepared to see the same when my own creation finally hits in the fall and that's okay.
It bugs me too that it's Crystal that needs additional work and delays the release - the network that noone uses, at least compared to GC...
+1,000. Seriously ... Crystal? No one cares about this service. Hell, a lot of people have never heard of it.
Yeah - over GC, O2 multiplayer (apart from some bugs) worked just fine in the beta. Absolutely no need for a separate service, particularly not when it indefinitely delays the release.
I lose more respect for Chillingo every single day. They have become a HORRIBLE company and I feel so bad for the O2 developers for being stuck with them. And Crystal, Crystal is awful. Put it to rest already and move on Chillingo.
Well, they're EA now anyway. Unfortunately, as you saw with the Open Feint deal (did they overpay or what?!), Crystal will not be put to bed anytime soon. If EA can make it work, it's worth it to them, so they are expending the effort. Still waiting for an answer on Twitter.
I bet you guys anything Chillingo is just trying to troll us...I mean really they are just trying to be dicks..
1 I know this isn't quite the place for it, but you all are the ones most likely to be interested. Last night I finally threw up my arms with O1. It's broken, flat out. Bugs I've found: - Hard crash: cycling through cities in city view mode often crashes the game without save (campaign mode) - Green crystals are invisible on some Death and Earth city views (campaign mode) - There are some cards already in your 'shopping cart' when, from city view, you go to buy cards - The top of the screen flickers after opponents' move (all modes) - Some jittering of sound effects - The Death main building in city view is invisible in many games New Features / Bug fixes in the recent update I've found: (none) Bugs found in the previous version of O1: - There are some cards already in your 'shopping cart' when, from city view, you go to buy cards So, yeah. The recent update broke the game (the crashing occurs several times an hour). And it didn't fix anything. Huh? Anyway, I find this very disappointing. If nothing else, I'd love an explanation for what the heck the point of that update was!
No problem that you posted this at all. I think it's pertinent. Trouble is that across the various devices, there has been much change that is not all easily accountable. Even the devs are having problems figuring it out. If you look at TA's front page today, the devs for Dream:Scape have just realized that their game will run ONLY on iPhone 4 and iPad 2. From TA: "So I have finally, after dozens of painstaking hours, accepted that my game, dream:scape, will never run on the iPad 1, iPod Touch, or iPhone 3GS,” [the dev] wrote on the official UDK message board. A vicious memory bug, which makes the game crash when a build-up occurs, is to blame." In a nutshell, that is likely the case for the problems you see. What you describe sounds like memory glitches. O1 was updated for newer device versions and probably choked memory in unexpected ways for older devices. It also just may be that stuff like this is what is holding up Chillingo from releasing the game. It's one thing to find these problems out before a game is released, it is quite another to find them out afterwards. You can always reinstall if you do not mind losing your campaign. Or do a hard reset tonight and hope you're okay tomorrow. Problems like this may even occur more often as more devices are introduced.
I restarted the iphone, also reinstalled O1. No luck. The bugs are still there. I'm on an iPhone 4 with the latest iOS. Is nobody else seeing these? They're mostly in campaign mode, so perhaps not. Thankfully, I saved a backkup copy of the previous version of the O1 ipa. I was able to rid myself of the updated version and reinstall the old one. Since then, I've been trying to reproduce the bugs. And sad to say, my post above remains accurate for me. Reason for it aside: it's pretty well maddening. No bug fixes, but plenty of new bugs. I just don't get it.
How much you want to bet that this thread will be buried on page 50 of Upcoming Iphone and Ipod Touch games before its released.
I'm seeing them on an iPhone 3GS. It's made it very frustrating to play... I've largely stuck with the duel mode now that the campaign is very broken. I've also noted some anomalies in duels, where enemy cards are living through attacks that should have rendered them dead. Very odd.
I also wanted to say - I love how the upcoming games link on Chillingo's site for for O2 points right back to this thread...
There is zero reason to not contact Chillingo to demand the update be updated to correct the problem. If the Campaign mode is now unplayable, consumers deserve a fix and if necessary, a complaint to Apple is warranted. Seriously, don't sit there and do nothing. I no longer play the Campaign mode, won it once and was not interested in pursuing it again, so it really doesn't affect me but I'm upset that you guys cannot use what you paid for. That sucks in the worst way. It won't take many complaints to get the gears moving, so do it and maybe it'll wake them up about the potential audience they have out here.
May! Oh and by the way, I have it on the best of authority that O2 will be released in May. So, the countdown begins. At the very worst, there are 32 days to go. There is a release date set but for now, it can't be revealed. I'll try and put together some basic info soon and hopefully, Meneisyys will have a card catalogue primer ready.
