Personally, I love Orions and think O2 will do well if it is not priced too high, since it finally has multiplayer. There is definitely room in the marketplace for both Shadow Era and O2. And Runemasters.
I think it has to. At the very least, it will wind up as a reasonable alternative to those who really do not want to spend a lot of additional bucks ($20+) to get new cards. I've spent $5 on crystals but I would have paid $5 for the game with the cards I have now anyway, so np. O2 should be worth the same, I would think. Yes, there should be lots of room for both. And for Runemasters. And for Gilded Skulls Dice Battles. And for someone to reincarnate M.U.L.E. And even a game of mine, if we ever get a contract signed.
Frankly, I think the implementation of Orions does not do the game system justice cause the campaign is so silly (reminds me some what of Starfleet Command), and duel has so little variations that it gets old too quickly (for the price). So I wish Orions 2 could do better. Yes, I also play SE and find it is quite amazing (and constantly evolving).
O2 has the following modes: 1) traditional duel vs. AI in 3 difficulty levels with various options (like more elements, more cards, etc.) 2) draft vs. AI 3) constructed deck vs. AI 4) duels vs. humans - either anon or invite 5) drafts vs. humans - anon (invite s/b implemented any day) 6) not sure when/if constructed deck will be implemented vs. human but I think that is the plan. 7) Challenge vs. AI (9 different challenges, some not too hard, some VERY hard) 8) Campaign with either easy, medium or hard maps There should be enough there to plumb the depths. Plus, I'll say it again. The deck is amazing. There is so much variety that one is always exploring effects and trying to understand how everything interacts. I have played the beta for at least 40-50 hours and have not tired in the slightest. In fact, in a match with Meneisyss the other night, I found out something I never knew about one of the cards. Didn't realize it and it cost me big time but that's what it's all about. I want to play against all of you. And I want to hear from you in the forum when the Master Meneisyss beats you all to a bloody pulp. If Kyle can claim there is enough room for both SE and O2, then of course there is.
Agreed. I've been playing SE, and I'm a huge fan of Orions. I feel that they are very separate games, tonally especially, and that there is plenty of room for both. Heck, I think we'll see a ton of people who download and enjoy both. And hey, there's almost nothing like either on the app store at the moment, so we should welcome any and all comers!
Thanks! I have been following this thread for some time and as I have Orions also and watch the video that the cards I love are still present in the sequel, no one in the 'verse can forbid me to play both!
I couldn't agree more. Shadow Era is awesome! Especially on the iPad. Can't wait for O2 and Runemasters now. Oh and a new iPad with some actually RAM in it.
Don't get me wrong, folks. I will be buying O2 on release day and I will likely play a lot for a few days. But long term, SE promises to be updated much more frequently and change more over time than Orions has in the past. And yeah, there is a TON of room in the marketplace for SE and O2 and DotR! And since DotR is at best 8 months away, people have plenty of time to enjoy and master O2 and SE before it's on the scene. And DotR is quite different from both SE and O2 while still maintaining the feel of a TCG, so it should fit in nicely and not be direct competition Q
How can we learn if this game will be released to windows mobile as well ? From what you understand I don't own an iphone / ipad device but I have HTC Diamond2 with purchased Orions Deckmasters. I don't want to buy an iphone just for one game!?! However, can we learn from the developers if they will make a windows mobile version in the future. I can wait (not very long though ) if it's necessary. Thank you.
I seriously doubt anyone would develop / port anything for Windows Mobile any more, which is officially dead and the sales would be very low (if any). Windows Phone 7 (which the Dia2 can't be upgraded to) is completely different from WinMo (and iOS), which requires a major undertaking to port; that is, I don't think it'd be ported to WP7 either.
I'm pretty sure the next build is going to be the final but I don't know if I am going to see it before release. The game is ready with the very few items left that needed fixing. They said March, so I would expect it to be submitted very soon.
I guess I have to respond since the anticipation is palpable. It's only the 5th of March. I wish I knew more......sigh. Developer said next build should be the final, which is exactly what I thought. There were only a couple of issues remaining to be taken care of.
I'm not holding my breath. For all I know, it will be a March 31st debut. Funny, I have Shadow Era and am playing it a lot recently but I keep on going back to O2. Yeah, I suppose I'm biased but God I love this game. Meneisyss said he would publish a strategy guide when the game is published and I'm looking forward to that as well. As much as I've played the beta, there's a lot I don't yet know about the set and effects.
