I am so proud to be the number n (where n is a natural number higher than 50) person to ask this: is the darn game coming out already?
I'll take this. Given that the developer emailed the beta testers at 4:34AM (his time), I'd say it's a pretty good bet that the project is still targeted for the app store. The only logical guess I can make is soon.
Tell me teh RELEASE DATE PLZ!!! im bit angry on the Dev's bcs of O1 but i will give them another chance...
Just went to the new iMOREGAMES facebook page. They have a video for Orions 2 uploaded with a release date of March 2011. Linkage: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Moregames-Entertainment/176951012349720?v=wall Enjoy
The video is great and, perhaps, it will attract the attention of the big names in the iGaming industry, such as toucharcade (I am certain they noticed this thread). The fact that they made an actual investment in marketing greatly increases my hopes for the game. While I cannot deny my frustration at having to wait such a long time, I cannot argue against the admirable fact that the devs took almost half a year to make sure the game includes all the requested features. I'd rather have to wait 6 months for a well done Orions than get a hastily put together sequel half a year earelier. I just hope the wait is worth it.
I am overwhelmed by the effort that has gone into this product. The addition of so many new cards has meant so many new iterations of effects and counter effects that the process of testing THOROUGHLY has taken what seems forever. For me, that process has actually been ongoing only since January 3rd. There were a number of bugs or not-ideal situations that had to be dealt with and of course, MP. The game would probably have been released already if it were not for the clamor here on Toucharcade about the need for MP. This was a huge undertaking for Pavel and he really should be given credit for listening to you guys and giving you exactly what you want. Whatever problems you had with O1, the developer is doing everything he can to make O2 your favorite game ever. The trailer is great but it does not compare to actually playing the game and sitting back to appreciate the music, the sounds and the zillions of animations. EVERYTHING about is game is pleasing. And yes, it will need a bit more time, so don't quite buckle up the seat belt yet. March sounds right. Meneissys plans on putting up a strategy guide as soon as the game is released, which will add to the fun. And MULTIPLAYER! I am so looking forward to this. I have two buddies I play Samurai and Ra with and I will gift them O2 to ensure we can play. Look for me on Crystal and GC (amn624).
Why not async??? As soon as O2 finally makes its long awaited appearance, I know there is going to be a lot of griping from the "Async Rules!" crowd about MP being sync play only. Let me tell you why sync is best for O2.... First of all, this is not chess. If you're going to take a few minutes (or hours or days) for each move, you will both probably lose interest. Worse yet, unless you cataloge every card you see during the duels, you will have NO idea of what creatures or spells your opponent has because you will not be able to remember. I can just see it now. You're dueling Quorlan, you're at 21 and he's at 1. You receive notification "it's your turn." You sign on and find he has casted "Steal Life," taking 10 from you. So, now you're both down to 11 life. You cast that huge Elemental with 11 strength unopposed, knowing you can switch it with an unopposed Ice Wall and end the game. You sign off. You sign back on a few hours later to see that Quorlan cast a Fairy and its spell has your Elemental do 11 damage to you, killing you. When you play by yourself against the AI, you can take your sweet time and come back to a game anytime you want. Against a human opponent, I think most of us want to either win or lose quickly and move on to the next match. That's where the fun lies.
Challenge Mode I mentioned Challenge mode before and have to mention it again. I played the Guardian Challenge today, a looooong drawn out battle that took at least a half hour over three separate sessions. The Challenges are awesome. There are 9 different Challenges, all with very different parameters and a win in any or each will bring a lot of satisfaction. For instance, Sudden Death, where the CPU begins with 100 life and you start with only 9. Why 9? Why not 8? Well, if the CPU can cast Banshee anytime soon, that's 8 right there, so 9 has to be the minimum. Trust me, this is a very hard one to win. Okay, so in Guardians, the CPU starts with BOTH a Water and Fire Elemental and in today's game, also had the first turn. I actually stopped playing twice just to think about how to strategize future turns to best turn around the game to my advantage. So, those who are still going to be looking for async rationale, you'll have it, but you'll have it against the CPU.
Your logic makes sense and all the features look awesome. The fact that the AI puts a good challenge is pretty great too that should give people on the go a good chance to play games on their own time with a challenge
Front page mention on TA, very nice! This game is great and things like that will really start to build momentum now that a release date is approaching! Still itching to play, especially online against many of you. And I congradulate the O2 dev team and beta testers! CAN'T WAIT!
That's the general idea. Other than the dreaded phantom cast, what bugs did you encounter in O1? If you played the pc version of O2, what bugs did you encounter? Since the beta testers are using a new build (hopefully the last) as of today, a prompt response is appreciated. Thanks.
I hear ya, amn. I hear you too, Vovin. We're working on it, but won't be ready for a long time. We're hoping Orions 2 and Shadow Era will hold everyone over 'til we're ready for DotR's release. Some updates and new info coming soon in our own threads So ITCHING to play Orions 2 I've been playing O1 a LOT lately as well as spending some time with the Shadow Era online web version to hold ME over until O2 and the iPhone Shadow Era release!
