    Guys -

    I think one of the most important things Pavel is counting on us for is feedback on individual stats and abilities for critters, wrt to do they actually do what they are stated to do? There are quite a few problems in this aspect, more so than O1 simply because there are more critters and more instances for the programmers to have not updated the files correctly.

    Cases in point; Water Troll casts Stomp, which supposedly "deals 2 damage to opposite creature and same to enemy creatures in nearby slots." However, it dealt 4 to opposing critter and the one nearby. That's a huge difference and makes the card considerably worth more than you might think otherwise. Of course, it might be that I interpreted the stated ability wrong and it actually means, "deals damage to opposite creature and those in nearby slots equal to 2x the number of enemy creatures." Without knowing for sure, you're a bit in the dark. Stated abilities should be worded correctly.

    Another is Red Drake, which when summoned, hits all your critters for 1, although that is not in the card description. Imagine having two creatures down to one health and the opponent on the verge of extinction, then you summon Red Drake and kill two of your guys. Um, I wouldn't be happy.

    Honestly, situations like this can wind up frustrating and card info should be entirely accurate. I would bet anything that many of the cards have been through as many as a dozen iterations before the beta and it is entirely possible that many of the files were just either updated improperly or overlooked.

    Good point. The wording in the cards isn't entirely consistent; one of the problems of the first Orions was that the term "life" sometimes referred to your lifepoints, and sometimes to your amount of mana in the life element.

    I wish there was a way to get acres to ALL the text in the cards. Checking then out one by one in the game will take forever!

    I sent Pavel a detailed list of beta issues/feedback and he responded quickly. From what I can gauge, they seem very receptive to the multiplayer angle and I would guess they will seriously attempt to implement this. Whether it can be done for the initial release, I have no clue.

    He is aware of phantom cast issues. If anyone has a problem with O1, please post situation and maybe we can figure out exactly why this happens. For me, it seems to occur only after examining a card in the left hand slot and then trying to cast another card.

    They did disable a method to examine cards in draft but are amenable to finding a way to implement this.

    They will try to slow down certain animations so that it is not always necessary to revert to the log to see what has been cast.

    To Meneissys and IzzyNobre: they are very intent upon having beta testers examine the cards for any wording errors or inconsistencies. Please, let's make this a primary objective. Wording on Water Troll now changed to reflect ability fully. :)

    Great! I'll give it a read today.

    Edit: since we're on the topic of card wording, how do you feel about the use of the term "buff"? I find that in a few instances it comes off as redundant.

    The first .inf has the line breaks and everything, makes the text a lot easier to read. The other ones however have no line breaks and everything is kinda jumbled together in the same line.

    I'm at work right now, if you or Meneissys could compile all the cards' wordings in one big .txt file so I and other beta testers (or MoreGames themselves) could more easily access all the text, it'd be a great help!

    I suggested that Water Troll's casting ability was underpowered. He agreed and is raising it from 1 water to 2. There are probably more than a dozen cards that are either over or underpowered, so these are considerations as well as wording inconsistencies.

    We should try and get these to him asap as well as any other suggestions. I've already posted my concerns to the forum, please do so as well.

    I can't say for sure, but if anyone else has the desire to betatest, they might want to post here why they should participate and maybe Pavel will be looking. I don't know, just a thought.

    I think use of "buff" is okay. Re lack of line breaks in the .inf files, yes, that sucks but it won't be me that is compiling the list. Not enuf hours in the day for that!

    Knowing how game development usually goes, I'd estimate a late January/early February release.

    How does it compare to Orions (2)? Has anyone played it? Is it engaging? (Don't want to waste 2+3 (IAP) US$ on it only to find out it's not as engaging as Orions 2...)

    I didn't like the graphics much.

    There's no two ways about it -- Orions still is the superior card game on the AppStore.

    Did you purchase it? I didn't want to waste $2 on a game that I most probably would delete after 5 minutes... what is it like?

    Didn't buy it, probably won't. The graphics in the screenshots don't look too good.

    Maybe I'm just too used to the visuals and gameplay of Orions.

    Yeah, it's very hard to make a better title than Orions - it's so damn well done. It's, in my opinion, by far the best game ever released Windows Mobile (I've, as the ex-Nominations Manager for Pocket PC Magazine, played them all). I don't think a homemade title can beat it - this is why I'm pretty much reluctant to throw $2 on an unknown title. ($1 would be another issue - that's still in the "well, let's spend that much on it to find out, I don't lose much if I don't like it" region.)

    Yes, a couple in in Campaign mode and there still seems to be a bit of a phantom cast problem in duels. I emailed Pavel this morning. He's been pretty quick on the responses and definitely seems interested in finding a way to implement multi-player, so Meneissys, we're counting on you to help. :)
