I think people just want a little objectivity around here. Ascension was heavily criticized for very subjective reasons, for example. And before you say "randomness", that is not an objective flaw.

    I really liked Orions 2, I didn't like Ascension!

    Reviews are inherently subjective.

Fair enough, but the balance between the reviews is off.

The developer has abandoned the game even!

And they should be more objective. It's natural to have subjective elements, but the review needs to strive for objectivity on the whole. I'm not going to review My First App the same way I'm going to review World of Goo.

Back to Orions. So it's safe to say MoreGames has abandoned support for this game?

That would appear to be the case, yes.

You people expected support from MoreGames?

    That's cute.

jumping over the ramble and the not again parts

maybe i looked for an more indeepth review, and probably (maybe too used from magazines etc.) comparsions to just recently released card games who fit to the same target audience.. maybe especialy kard combat which is based on pretty much identical game mechanics from spectromancer..

maybe it just scratched to much on the surface of the game for me since i've spend quite (way to much) time playing it.. dunno.. i'm no author so i can't pin point it 100% accurate.. but i think more details& depth would be in order for more complex games.. again it reads (to me) more like a brief description than a review. for example gametrailers review have the descriptive part then they go into details about the different aspects of the game, you guys do similar in other reviews..

as a sidenote.. i did not read anything into hodapps question.. i think it was just a question.. but i still think the review is lacking the review part..

    Update

Pavel was quite happy to see the front page coverage and says he's trying to find the time to work on the update and expects to release it soon.

    YEAH!

I found it very strange to see a TA coverage after the game was released, but I'm glad to see it made the devs work on some improvements! I hope it helped some selling as well :D

It is a pretty strange review. Very superficial. It's so lightweight, I'm afraid it'll blow away in a mild breeze.

Why can't he speak for himself? I appreciate he is a busy developer, but there are lots of busy developers who still find five minutes in their schedules to communicate with their customers. I guess we should be grateful that you, at least, seem to be getting some communication from him. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm trying because I know there are a lot of O2 fans who want very much to see the update (including me). Apparently, he is somewhat reluctant to spend time on the forums.

Well, you can add me the list of customers who would very much like to see O2 updated. I find it very strange that he is reluctant to communicate with his customers via this well-trodden thread. Given the fact that O1 promised so much and delivered precisely zero, not to mention his company's poor reputation because of that, you'd think he would be doing all he could to restore some integrity to his name. Apparently he thinks not.

It's good that you got a message from him, but you'll forgive me if I only believe his words when an update actually materialises in the app store. There's a lot of bad history here and the man needs to prove himself to be true to his word if he wants to restore some shred of confidence in his customers.

Totally agree. He needs to act and the sooner, the better.

It's probably way too late now, but I can't help wishing for a simple, streamlined campaign. In fact, I would definitely purchase O2 is such a thing was provided; multiplayer is mostly lost on me, anyway.

I don't want to gather crystals, choose land, construct buildings, fly blimps, or do anything that could be considered micro-managing. And I have zero interest in grinding. I just want to make progress, meet interesting foes, and brutally kill them ... like maybe in a tower paradigm or something ... hey, that sounds familiar.

I'd go so far as to pay an IAP fee for something called "Simple Campaign" or whatever. I sort of miss Orions; it was my first "real" game purchase way back when. But I don't miss it enough to grind again.

    Any news about the update?

    off-topic:
I've tried demo version of Kard Combat.
It's just not interesting. It's not as eye-candy as Orions. Cards don't have casts. Almost no combos. But I didn't encounter any bugs. It seems like Orions' cards + Orions' design + KC's developer = would be a perfect game :)
