I'm totally just free-thinking here, but it would be a great deal for everyone if the Mystery Russian would just sell Orions to you and maybe three or four of the other die-hards here. You guys could form an LLC, probably make a few dollars, and release regular updates. And the Russian could forget all about us and go do whatever it is he wants to do. Win-win.
Let us know how you get on. It would be interesting to hear why he's not been communicating with his customers via this thread and the seemingly complete lack of interest on his part. And guys, let's give SupraKarma a break regarding his comments about Ascension. For what it's worth, I also disagree with his earlier comments but it's his opinion and he's entitled to it. No app is perfect and you cannot please everyone all of the time. As much as I enjoy playing O2, the game is riddled with bugs that will probably never get squashed, not to mention balance issues. Ascension is the polar opposite; so far, I have not encountered any bugs, game balance seems very good and I'm really enjoying playing it. Ascension is by far the better product and more polished than O2. Granted, to my knowledge the developer of Ascension has yet to make an appearance on their thread, but they have no compelling reason to at this stage; their product works well and customers are generally happy and getting what they paid for. Even if Ascension never sees an update, I'm willing to bet that their customer base will be overall more satisfied with it than O2 customers are with O2. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that the developer of O2, and probably Chillingo, are motivated purely by profit. If they don't foresee a significant return for their efforts, they simply ignore all customer feedback, neglect to release updates and move on to another project. However, that beggars the question why they bothered to release O2 in the first place; if the first one did not sell in sufficient numbers to justify their time and effort in working on updates, why release a sequel only to completely neglect it yet again? Seems odd.
The problem is that stuff like this ... "Ascension is boring, lifeless and drags forever." ... not only tends to invite comment, but also can make others less willing to give the author a break. He said it; he needs to live with it. You're right; I hadn't realized that neither Gary Games nor Incinerator seems to post here. Gary Games, though, does maintain a very nice web presence: http://www.ascensiongame.com/ Which, again, is something that would do a world of good for a game like Orions.
I've yet to play Durak, but nor Shadow Era or Ascension really compare to Orions in my opinion. SE's interface is clunky and tiresome. How many turns does it take to finish a match in Ascension? How lifeless and uninteresting are the cards?! I don't get the Ascension love really. It feels so empty, passionless... after a few turns i'm already yawning. I find it very boring. I guess all you async fans must love it. Even with all the alarming flaws that Orions 2 possesses, it still has the most lively and intense gameplay, and the interface is just perfect for my tastes (and i'm not the usual player of these games, the only one i enjoyed before Orions was the Necronomicon flash game based on Lovecraft). The fewer steps/taps/drags to end a turn, the better.
Oh, Pavel. So much work you put in to let a golden opportunity slide through your fingers. Chillingo is equally to blame. Regardless, it's just a damn shame all around.
12-15 usually covers it. Right. As opposed to those utterly dynamic cards in Orions. Clearly. I'm the most anti-asynch person you're likely to find at this site, and I think Ascension is great. Try again.
Check out the KC thread for mine and others thoughts. First impressions are pretty good, for me at least.
I'm enjoying so far, although I've barely scratched the surface. I like the way they structured the campaign ("the towers," as they call it). To make it a somewhat on-topic thought for this thread, I'll go so far as to say that had the O2 campaign been structured like this, I probably would have bought it. But my understanding is that nothing changed from the way he did the O1 campaign, which I loathed. Anyway, Card Combat (refuse to use the "K") looks strong out of the gate. We'll see where it stands when the shiny newness has worn off.
tried ascension. Its alright but different card genre than orions. Its very similar to the physical card game Dominion, and unfortunately not quite as fun. However the execution is very well done, as many of you pointed out. Orions is just such an elegant game that works perfectly on the touch screen, its a shame it doesnt have the little bells and whistles necessary to gain a huge crowd
I have to say that I am in love with Kard Combat. I think the game really scratches an itch that Orions 2 just can't seem to. I would like Orions more if it got rid of the gawd awful building campaign section. So if you are disenchanted with ascension because it is indeed a different genre than Orions, I think you will like KC a lot. I for one love both of them.
I'm liking Kard Combat so far. I just about finished my first tower on Master (for Death Mage). I haven't even tried playing Orions 2 in close to a week and don't have any urge to, since I don't feel like spending an hour trying to get a multiplayer game going.
I am! All O2 players should add me. Name is rekirtsraF. its an awesome game though a bit of a grind before you fully unlock all the cards. playing a bunch of holy really neat .
Quite bizarre, in the last two days i've seen an immense activity in O2. Can find online games all the time, and i've seen at least 10 new players.
