I just sent this to Chillingo: "You did ZERO QA on Orions 2 and it shows and you absolutely know it. I don't know what it is you think you do for developers. But you certainly don't do quality assurance. You ought to be ashamed."
For what it's worth, I would welcome Chillingo's input in this thread. Guys, feel free to contribute and give us your side of the story. I wouldn't want anyone to think we were making unfounded accusations regarding your integrity. God forbid.
I'm far more concerned with the lack of support for promotion than QA. I just don't get it, what's the advantage of having Chillingo be your publisher? What do they do for their piece of the action? Sit and collect? Seems so bizarre but again, it's only been two weeks. Watch and wait. And play.
I hope to be online at 11 edt (GMT 0300) for an hour or two, if anyone is interested. If you invite me and I do not respond, I'm probably playing with someone else.
I feel I will very shortly be taking the leap to MP. Better late than never! If someone in the know would be so kind as to post a summary of O2 MP etiquette, I would be grateful. I dont want to upset anyone! My username is Espekayen. Prepare for a whoopin'!
FYI - check what options you have saved. If the other player has the same, that's what you'll be playing. If not, I really don't know what the default is. You're only going to have 60 seconds for each turn, so be prepared to act or lose your turn. However, if time runs out, your creatures will automatically attack. You can try for draft, but if no one is trying for draft on the other side, there'll be no connection (actually, I did get connected once for a regular duel even tho I asked for Draft, don't know how that happened). Before you try to connect, type in your name so we know who we're playing. Don't forget to change your picture as well. Have fun!
Small bugs: 1) If you heal a Scareling to above his "don't attack" threshold, he still doesn't attack that turn. 2) Evil Sorcerer's spell doesn't seem to damage another Evil Sorcerer.
Okay, I thought of a compelling reason to add a cost to Manticore's spell ability: More choice means more strategic depth. With the spell being free, there's no choice: you may as well remove all enemy cast abilities (except, perhaps, Ghost or Sillyass). But if it had a mana cost, you wouldn't just spam it at every "Cast" button you see.
cost on spells also adds the not low chance that the owner of the creature won't be able to use the spell right away since he is usualy out of mana or short on mana for that element.. so the opponent would have a chance to try to counter the enemy and try to kill it off faster/directly.. if possible..
Just discovered another small bug may be feature. First of all player summons Guardian and make its cast on some creature to defend it. Secondly another player summons Python opposite to guardian. Pythons attack will decrease attack of both creatures =)
manticore cast doesnt worry me too much because it is 8 to play the card, especially compared to giant spider, which DEFINITELY needs to cost 1 earth to cast a spell or at least damage the spider every time he casts. It seems there should always be some penalty for casting however, like its kinda lame that blademasters spell hurts the opponent for 2 hp, but only if you just remember to hit the cast button? just seems strange
Personally, I think Manticore should cost 7, but have a 1-2 pt cost associated with its spell. You make a good point about the Blademaster ability (should just be automatic).
Giant Spider Ok, played a few matches recently where Giant Spider was key. I had it, I won. My opponent had, he won. If I had to rate all the cards in the set, it would be way up there. I'm not sure it's the best. When I run through the cards at the beginning of the game I am happy to see the big bug, but I am also happy to see cards like Blademaster, Manticore and there a quite a few others as well. There are only a few immediate ways to deal with the big bug, like Manticore and Beserker, but if all you have is something like Starfall or an Archer, it's going to take time you may not have to spare. Frankly, I think the greatest argument in favor of the Spider's OP is its cost is cheap enough to bring out a second one before the first one dies. The main argument against the Spider's assumed underprice/overpower seems to be to increase the casting cost for the web to 1 but the effect of this is only to obviate the chance of another Spider being cast, since the element growth goes for the cast. Frankly, if Spider were to be changed at all, I think it should be a bit weaker, to allow it to succumb to more circumstances, such as an Acid Storm. I'm not suggesting any change at all, just tossing in my 2 cents on what seems to be a huge subject here. If anything, I do not understand why the Spider should get a +3 bonus to attack if another Earth creature is on the board when it is cast. That just seems like overkill. If Spider allows a weaker player to win every once in a while, I am fine with that. In fact, I think that's the hallmark of a great design. Btw, I've seen a lot of new names online in the last couple of days. Seems more of those who started out with the AI and Campaign, are ready to take the leap. And guess what? They seem to be using combos discussed here. Our TA audience may be larger than you think.
