If anything breaks the card it is the ability to gain +3 to power with another Earth creature in play.

Negate attack with 0 cost + 18 health + 4 power for 6 means it is already under priced but this is not a big deal. The worst thing that can happen is to go through all 116 cards and nerf everything that is under priced and adjust everything that is over priced. Kyle is doing that with SE and I think it is a huge mistake. You want under priced and over priced cards because that is part of the game, judging whether the cost will be effective for whatever strategy you are developing during a game. If every card is going to be equal in value to every other card, tell you what, I don't think I even want to play the game anymore. If that's the case, just close my eyes and choose any card?

Also, nerfing by increasing element costs has the potential to alter the game play significantly. It is probably better that any adjustments be made to abilities, health, power and casting costs, rather than the actual cost of the card.

In the case of GS, the +3 bonus seems gratuitous to the point of crazy.

    Possible solutions:
    1) change health to 15
    2) change power to 3
    3) web costs +1
    4) forget the +3 bonus for another Earth creature in play

Any one of these should be ample.

I'm not on board here. There are way too many possibilities to create huge critters, like 18 power Elementals or twin pumping Diablos etc. Defenses must exist for these critters otherwise the game becomes less of a battle of wits and less challenging. Soul of Winds & Ethereal are not enough and Acid Storm or Starfall is not going to get rid of the really huge ones. Sure you can lucky and get Bloody Wind or Enslave but the odds for handling the big guys seem to be just right at this point. Besides, as you say, Fairy can be dealt with pretty easily.

Just gifted the game to my cousin, who's a hardcore strategy game fan but lives in Brazil (it's a little tricky to buy games down there).

He's hooked and even beat me a couple of times already.

Elemental has base power of 0. SoW is supposed to match the base. If he has 2, there's something else that is affecting the Elemental's base. The Elemental's ability adds +1 to "attack" each turn but does not increase it's base power.

Re your other problem, documenting it and showing screenshots could help.

I'll bet most of the difficulty stems from memory conflicts or problems. Best bet is always to close out all other apps before opening O2. Better yet, close them, power off device and power back on.

Yep, that's true, SoW is useless against elementals, but as I stated above SoW's power not always equal to base power of opposed monster. There is a bug with Salamander, Pure heart and Armor of Gods.

Agreed. I miss Unicorn, Vampire, Efreet, Ice wizard, Phoenix, Ritual Flame, Titan and Golem :(
Some of old cards was pretty useless and there are no point to add them back, because no one wants to have rubbish in random generated deck in duels.. Some of them will not fit O2 (such as Gods wrath - because of very balanced Death cards in O2.. you may play only Death cards if you get lucky to have something like Raise dead + Necromancer).. But I think the cards I listed above will be very good in O2, so I look forward for an update with all of these cards.

Sometimes in matchmaking I get stuck in the Game Center "lobby" where it says "Me", with the "Play Now" button and all. Here's a screenshot:

It never authenticates, the screen hangs there and nothing ever changes. It just so happened that GC was on the fritz when O2 came out, so I thought that was to blame...

...except the problem is always solved by shutting the game off and booting it again.

One more bug for the list?

Well, I guess we both agree that Giant Spider is a bit imbalanced in some respects, heh. I don't see the +3 attack bonus as a game changer. The summon cost might be a bit low, sure, and I certainly think the casting cost of Web should be 1 Earth. Reducing base AP to 3 is fine, too, but the real issue I see is with the free cost of web.

I guess we're going to have to disagree on Fairy. I DO think that the mechanic should be maintained; you are certainly right in that some sort of effective deterrent beyond Enslave and Ethereal to summoning big critters is needed, but at the cost Fairy has at the moment, it is really quite underpriced and overpowered. Increasing the summoning cost by 1 would be fine with me, although I do think that Enslave Mind should be 2 Air instead of 1. It would still be a very strong deterrent to the whole Blood Ritual pain train, but it wouldn't be an imbalanced game changer.

    Edit: Response to Amn's post.

I'm working on an overhaul for all the text in the game since in its current state there are many grammar errors and awkward English. Also, the consistency of wording and clarity of meaning for almost every card needs to be improved. This is not a slight at the developer as I know hes worked hard and English is not his first language. Hopefully I can get these changes in the right hands to be considered for implementation.

i think the perception of the fairy being OP is because its so cheap to cast.

or maybe in general the instant cast abilities in the game in general (no summoning sickness like in magic or so)

putting the casting cost to 2 would tone it down a bit.. and it would at least limit several casts in a row (especialy if your low on mana) .. maybe decreasing its health by 1 would do the trick since this would make it easier to kill by some critters with a single attack.

as for kyles ballancing.. thats ok i think.. thats neccessary and i assume he has extensive statistics of cards being used, when there where cast etc.
and i doubt its pure nerving down without taking strategies into account

not sure if orions has such analytic stats build in, i doubt it, but SE also has the advantage that its an online game, running mostly from the servers so changes are easily made, can be tested quickly and undone if they don't work out..

i don't think ballancing is a big issue at the time being, bugfixing and polish(draw fix etc.) should be at the top list..

i also would like to see the orion1 cards come back, not sure why they where removed in the first place.. if for "balancing" sake.. then one could easily have 2 deck modes, restricted (only o2 cards) and unrestriced(all cards).. somehow it feels odd that the cards where removed in the first place.

as for skirmish i would like a retry button.. currently there is surender and abort , both doing the same.. i would like to see a retry which start a new match with the same settings as before.

Well, I think that one would be a GC issue, not an O2 issue.

Why does it get resolved when I close the game and start it again, though?

That happens for me to but if I wait long enough it usually authenticates, but normally I just quit and try again.

I have more then enough memory for O2. itouch 4. I dont have any games or mighty programms in background while playing O2.
Powering off device every time before playing O2 ? Omg.
Ok Il do it later just to prove that it will not stop crashes. This is bug and it should be fixed.

Don't know, just making what I think is a reasonable assumption. I've had the same problem occur a couple of times. Actually I was fine by just going back to the O2 configure duel screen and pressing atart again.

you might want to check if you start the game fresh if you get the little "welcome back player xyz" notification from game center..

maybe there is a hickup with he login procedure on startup, and they don't retry ..
the game center api is a very small framework and all error handling needs to be done completly on the devs side. there should be some code behind

    Code:
     (void)matchmakerViewController:(GKMatchmakerViewController *)viewController didFailWithError:(NSError *)error
to handle error, retry a connection , or retry a login etc. without a look into the code its just guesswork.. but again GC is very lightweight and needs more effort put in..

so most GC bugs (except complete network shutdowns hah), like missing connection, achievements not being submitted etc. is usualy the developers fault because they need to implement all error handling, offline storage of data and resubmitting/ reconnection of stuff.

when the authentication gets stuck after resuming the game from a previous session you just have to close it out from the taskbar

I'm absolutely sure the problem is on your part. When (once) I played you with the final version, the connection also broke, which, with other players, is a very-very rare occurrence. In addition, I've played (and beaten) ASHCROFT several times. He has never disconnected on me.

He has disconnected on me twice. I've played some 15-20 matches so far and only had him disconnect on me.

That said, Game Center really needs some attention from Apple.
