Knife + draft prob If you're out there, listen up. If you pick first in any element, you're supposed to pass the first pick in the next element by pressing the crossed swords in the corner of the screen. Not only did you get ALL of the remaining first picks, but I began the match with 5 less elements, a position I could never recover from. If it happens again with anyone, I'll probably just abort. That was not fun. Come to think of it, this can't work anyway. The player who picks first is always going to start with 5 less elements which means he is supposed to go first in the duel. He can't if he gives the first pick in Death to the opponent!
I don't even try playing draft online (I haven't yet) until it's made more fair. Hopefully that will be done in one of the next updates to the game.
Well, the problem is establishing a convention and then having people stick to it. Draft is an excellent alternative to duel, with the only real drawback being you get 24 cards instead of 36. If you play a standard draft and you go first for each pick, you still start the game with less elements, so it's not all that bad BUT having second pick in all elements is clearly not outweighed by starting with 6 more elements. The more I think about it, the less I like the alternating rule, especially since a lot of players are not on this forum, don't know about it, and even some here have probably not heard about the idea. I do not want to be in the same situation as I had with Knife again. For the time being, I'm just going to play it the way Pavel designed it and if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to chime in.
we can organize draft games on the forum and use invite only, or add a ".ta" at the end of our names during draft days to know whether to pass or not. Dunno, its lots more fun then completely random though. ANd I like 24 cards vs 36.
Great idea on adding .ta to the name. If your opponent has .ta, then you know to pass. Excellent, rekirtS!
They could make a table showing where players are..kinda like Galcon. That will attract players. Maybe could also watch two people dueling..
Yeah this game really needs a lobby of sorts where you can observe people playing or just sit down and wait for someone to join.
recognizing people ingame so, should we have .TA all the time when we play? to recognize each other and play fairly? i`ll be from now on wwbat.ta
its obvious a design flaw.. or rather there was no design behind it in the first place.. obviously the the majority of player do not frequent ta, why should they. the fix needs to come from the developer and not from "houserules" from a few unimportant users.. the dev needs to set the rules.. at least properly.. and of course there is are different solutions for this 1) don't go through all 5 elements but give the players access to the complete list of avaiable cards.. so you can't skip a draw and its fair 2) disable manual skip and alternate the first draw per element in code 3) choose first player and calculate no. of elements before the actual game start not before drawing 4) test the product god damn.. ruining a mp mode because of such tiny neglectations of details is what makes me sad the most with orions.. as stated several times i think orions gameplay is the perfect base for a mobile tcg game, but the executions lacks so much its more than troubling.. its like tetris without the ability to rotate the blocks.. or a street fighter without the ability to punch.. argh.. there is so much attraction it could cause even to the casual gamer if done properly - proper "taken by the hand" introduction/tutorial - simplified gameplay mode for beginners - state of the art gfx/design/gui (that includes retina support and ipad version) - proper multiplayer, with lobby, chat, stats, rankings, ratings, etc. - and of course regular updates and bugfixes at the moment i could not even suggest anyone to buy the product.. why? because its falling down the charts of the important countries fast and that means there will be no support from the devs.. i can just hope to be prooven wrong and to see the dev churning out updates to let the app grown.. fact is in its current state it should have not been released.. so many obvious flaws.. yes of course especialy the beta testers are big fans with pink glasses on who can ignore all the bugs and designflaws because they are so "close" to the developer.. but you should ask yourself if that helps orions and its player.. instead of giving him slack you should push them into fixing bugs that exist since winmo times.. thats ridiculous that thoose bugs are even in there.. whats worese a crappy game being crap.. or a good idea badly executed over and over again.. sure orions core gameplay is and always will be fun.. but it feels like playing a beta version for years without seeing the sun on the horizon and that gives the hole story a bitter taste. i just hope imoregame get their act together this time.. i really wish they would..
Dang man it's not like there's an army of guys working on this title. From what I have read pavel has done a huge chunk of the work himself and deserves all the respect for the work he has put in. The game is excellent and so much so that the little annoyances are easily looked over. How much programming experience do you have?
Wait..where do we stick the .ta in our name? Here or in game? If in game..what's the point when we don't have a lounge? I can't see who to play against anyways right?
@mr Ugly: From what i read in this thread there will be updates to this game, so that`s good! And as for the online draft duel, i think it`s already very balanced (we are just trying to make it more fair between ourselves)! for example, there usually is more that one card i would choose first, and the decision comes at the last second ) ! and as for bugs i only encountered the avatar one, which doesn`t bother me so much(especially that it can happen very rarely), and i played a lot, every mode: campaign, duel, online duel, online draft duel, custom deck etc. well, this is my opinion and mine only i don`t wanna speak for anybody, this is a great game at an awesome price
well the idea is to put ".ta" at the end of your usual name in game! so that the person who you are playing against can recognize you as a member of TA and to know that you know the rules, and the same goes for you! wwbat.ta in O2
Well..I could see the point of that but as of right now there just isn't enough players, I'm not going to just quit on the next person who isn't from TA after I finally get someone to duel with me =.= besides it's not like the "fairness" issue is so broken it's impossible to beat a "cheating" player. I find it a challenge and actually haven't lost from an unfair draft game yet
you don`t quit), i didn`t mean that, sorry if i let you think that! besides draft duels, i believe that this is an awesome idea because if you play let`s say more than 4 matches with someone and IF you want to discuss sth you know you can do it here(if they have the .ta)
Oh no worries! I'll also add a .ta, I guess it'll be useful later on or after some updates hopefully.
