I guess what surprises me is that blizzard has just let the whole iOS market get away from them. They develop for mac and its rumored they are developing d3 for consoles why not a simple mmo for iOS? Maybe this will get them off their asses.

Um, I'm pretty sure nothing I said was "nonsense". If you guys think there have been "deals struck behind closed doors" with Blizzard, then you know very little about the game industry. Especially Blizzard. Those guys are so anal about the quality and perceived notions about their titles, they've exed two of their own games after millions of bucks poured into development....just because they didn't think they were good enough.

If they gave this game any kind of "ok to make it" with GL, their logo or endorsement would be all over it. I WANT an iOS MMO. I think it would be awesome. I'm just stating the obvious here: They are going to piss Blizzard off. Watch and see.

That's what people were saying Starfront..and I didn't say anything about any kind of deals. I'm just defending Gameloft. There's nothing they can get into trouble for legally. Sorry if you thought I was targeting you by the way. I wasn't.

hey, rift looks like wow, omg blizz will sue.

nah, seriously, without taking "actual" intellectual property from warcraft, this is just another mmo, that bares a resemblance.

What a nonsense... "pretty aggressive about protecting their intellectual properties"... LOL
As I said: Gamelofts devs aren't stupid.

Why should Blizzard care? They still make millions with subscription fees from WoW each month. It's an undeniable fact.
Gameloft did a lot of Blizzard clones - and nothing ever happened. A few examples:
    Diablo = Dungeon Hunter
    StarCraft = StarFront: Collision
Warcraft = Rise of the Lost Empires
No reaction from Blizzard. Is this what you call: "pretty aggressive protection"?

They never cared and they won't. The money Gameloft makes with these clones is just peanuts for them.
And Blizzard is too busy atm, they have to care for Diablo III, the new MMORPG Titan and more WoW expansions.

All your are saying is based on assumptions. Now pull that stick out of your butt and keep cool, please. ;)

This would be the most similar to wow among loads of wow clones out there.:) Hope Gameloft won't let us down.

With a low monthly payment this game will be a success.

    I'm thinking about $3 or $4 dollar a month.

(Don't want to go off topic, so this is just a quick mention)

Did some research last night and from my findings, (I'm no lawyer),
it doesn't seem Activision/Vivendi would have ground to sue Gameloft
based on it looking similar or even being a blatant copy.

The only way they would be able to sue is if they can PROVE their new
game with "exact likeness/similarity" has actually diverted/taken sales away
from their own product, which would be hard to do with the mammoth sales
Wow receives. On top of that, Activision/Vivendi has no IP on iOs that is
being copied. Now, if Starcraft or Wow was already on iOs, then Gameloft
would definitely be seeing a day in court.

    (Back on topic)
Again, I can't click the BUY NOW fast enough when this releases!!!

    On the internet.
Well actually with the similarities between art styles between wow and this, if a lawyer could prove that one may actually confuse this game for wow, then it is possible this is taking away sales from the former, in which case their is grounds to sue

With All this Talk of this Game being released soon....What happened to that MMO that QuantiumSquid was supposely working on? Also a Thought, THAT game look a waaaaaay lot like WoW itself. From That video they released, from its Enviroments to Enemies, even to the animation & design of the dwarf character....Who would have a higher chance of getting sued? QS or GL. I just had to throw that out there haha. Anywho, I could careless of its similar feel to WoW or any of their games in General. Im just happy they create games that most game companies wont produce to the iOS. Like most people say: Better to have a clone than nothing at all right? Blaaaaah o_O

I'm sure Gameloft's legal team checked all these possibilities out BEFORE they began developing the game.

I don't really care what they release, the games are usually entertaining enough to keep me occupied for some hours while I kill time.

I just pray they never make their own version of Heavy Rain...it would be 10GB app...

Probably gameloft will make different controls from those on PC. But there is one thing we can confirm, which is that it wont be as much fun as on PC. Anyhow, i'm confident in gameloft and believe this one will be much better than any other clones of wow out there.

Let's just hope gameloft can create a most similar one to wow. We know there will be difference, but it'll be okay if it provides an awesome gameplay on idevices.

I really hope this isn't subscription based, I don't think I bring myself to pay for a subscription game on an iDevice.
