Looks like it could be interesting if GL didn't try and incorporate every aspect of WoW. I'd also be a little concerned with framerate and redraw issues (as someone mentioned earlier, Shadow Guardian was horrid). My other concern is will GL keep expanding the game adding updates, like Spacetime does with Pocket Legends (one of the reasons I keep going back to that game). Personally I'd prefer the IAP to a monthly fee, but that's just me. Come on Gameloft, surprise us in a good way.
You can tell from the video that it is obviously not Unreal Engine 3, but their old engine. I doubt that we will see any Unreal Engine powered games from Gameloft till maybe the summer, probably after, it hasn't been that long since gameloft announced their deal with EPIC.
NEW SCREENSHOTS sorry if you have seen these already http://www.iphonehellas.gr/26129/order-chaos-online-mmorpg-exclusive-screenshots/
thank you for sharing this. In the last screenshot it looks like night elf druid using moonfire on the enemy lol
I think it's just an option to toggle it off , seeing that the skills are on the right side like in previous games . Screenshots updated .
i really cant wait to see how this turns out it looks like the max level is 60.. i hope they have expansions
I've got a feeling this will begin the first major lawsuit Gameloft faces. It won't surprise me at all if it happens. Blizzard is pretty aggressive about protecting their intellectual properties. I think the Starcraft clone is being overlooked right now because it's trying to pull off a perfect RTS experience on the tiny devices. Had it released on the iPad as well, Activision and Blizzard would probably already have an army of lawyers checking it out. They may already. But THIS. Good Lord. I've seen them do some carbon copies....but this is pretty outrageous. What's sad is, if you look at Rift or even games like the upcoming Guild Wars 2, you can see an MMO universe that at least LOOKS different from WoW's art style. They could have spent a little time and switched a few things up. The races look exactly the same (well....minus the polish). It's not that they are copying Trolls, Elves, Orcs, etc. It's the fact they are copying the exact way they are portrayed in WoW. All Activision has to do is establish that there could be some confusion by the end user between this and the WoW property. And that is very easily done by looking at a few screenshots. I hope they do create something awesome and this thing blows up. I also hope they charge some small monthly fee for it so we get constant maintenance, balance tweaks and (most importantly) a never-ending slew of new content. But I'm afraid if that does happen....Activision will step in and put a stop to it. And it could easily happen. Everyone likes to point out how big of an asshat Bobby is at Activision, but truth be told, I don't think Michael Morhaime, Rob Pardo or any of the top management at Blizzard would tolerate this either. And who could blame them? For those thinking "Oh, they have so much money, they don't care"...guys, when you have those kind of profits, you can pick up the phone and tell your legion of legal advisors to "Please make this go away".
I'm sure Gameloft made sure they wouldn't be at risk from a lawsuit before they started the game, or at least in the early stages of development. They copy ideas, sometimes very closely, but they never steal assets and therefore cannot be sued. And besides, I don't think Blizzard or Activision cares that much.
I dunno... I'm really thinking if a lawsuit was going to happen, Starfront was going to be the icing on the cake. The game similarities were near identical. I mean even the name was a copy: Starcraft minus 3 letters = Star-*r**t Starfront minus 3 letters = Star-*r**t That said, I'm not so sure Activision/Blizzard are taking this whole iOs thing too seriously. Activision has what, one game on iOs: COD:Zombies? I think, although not mentioned anywhere in the media, there is a behind closed doors agreement going on between the two companies to avoid such legal ventures. In the O&C gameplay video, you can see they aren't trying to be secretive about it. Heck the scene where the character is running into an Inn, looks right out of WOW even with the mailbox out front... I'm no where near complaining as I will be buying this game the absolute second it hits the app store. I loved my time in Wow and I will LOVE my time spent in Order & Chaos also I'm sure. This game can't come out fast enough!
Exactly, they're a multi-billion dollar company that knows what's within the legal range and what's not. Just because you think something is wrong, that doesn't mean the law warrants any kind of punishment for it. They've been in the game long enough to know just what they're doing. I'm seriously tired of people complaining about what Gameloft is doing. At least try reading more into the topic, as there are a substantial amount of articles on this matter, before posting nonsense about them. I, for one, am definitely always excited for each of their releases. No company has done more for iOS gaming.
