Frankly the only reason I dislike the subscription method is because of the hassle. If they give me the option to buy 4 months at a time, I'm perfectly happy! But if they force me to pay monthly, I'll probably be completely turned off.
Haha my see a reason why they wouldn want to hook you in it for longer. It would make no sense to charge per month instead let's say 3 or 6 months from a business point of view.
If you want continuous updates and great server maintenance it will be a subscription based game. If you want an mmo crapfest, then it will be free, *cough*IMO*cough**cough*Graal.
Ok, I see. Excuse my ignorance for I have not been on touchArcade long enough to be able to detect sarcasm. Does anyone know/have any ideas how potions will work? There don't seem to be any indications of them in the gameloft videos.
Archer/ranger with a shield?! Hmm I was watching the new trailer and at :32 I saw a archer/ranger with a shield on his back. I wonder what this means. Possibly a archer tank or just a heavily armored archer. Hmmm
If gameloft were to incorporate monthly subscriptions it would be nice to see some sort of Blizzard based server maintenance. As in shutting down the servers for maintenance every Tuesday or something from 1PM to 3PM or something like that. All they would have to do is notify gamers via an in game mail message, or a push notification or something.
I believe that a monthly (or other) fee is always a good idea. People tend to take things more serious when they have to pay for it. This game freemium or free-to-play? As soon as the Worldwide Foundation Of Gaming Idiots finds out about this, they'll instantly send their most wacky ambassadors to investigate this matter. These people tend to spoil your fun somehow. I've played Runes Of Magic for four months and went through it. Game was quite cool but a lot of Taboreas inhabitants were seriously bananas. It's not guaranteed that there are no loonies, but there will be not as much as when the game is free or an one-time purchase. In the end, I am paying to have some peace and not a division of dorks around me.
Couldn't agree more. 1-5$ / month (since it's an iPhone game) would be great, as long as I get at least some value from that money in the form of updates and stability. If I where guaranteed perfect stability and monthly updates of good quality I could easily pay 10-20$ / month. A good game is worth a lot, and that kind of money is nothing in other situations.
I guess . The thing is, really good games ( like wow was the first 6 months, like diablo II, like baldurs gate 1 & 2, like perfect dark for the n64 and a few more) are few and far between, so the fact is that I would gladly pay 200$ if I was guaranteed that it would be as good as diablo II or perfect dark.
Nope, Fast Five is coming this week. Plus, they haven't released any specific info on the release date yet.
I have a strong feeling this game will be for next gen devices only (3gs and up) and tbh this is a game which is pushing me to drop my 2g touch and upgrade finally. Gameloft sold me on another £229 ipod touch will be nice to replay a ton of apps which take advantage of the newer devices also, but I am excited for this game.
Gameloft doesn't allow their games to work over 3g. Which isn't to say that they couldn't, if they wanted to. I'm sure they could. They haven't done it yet though.
