Lol I know right? I love my Gameloft titles, IP ripoffs or not. I said it before, and I hate to sound harsh about it, but the reality is, if this is Gameloft's "last chance" for some people, I'm sure Gameloft is not going to be that sad to see a few people go. It would be like storming out of Burger King yelling "That's IT!!! I tried this BK Broiler and it sucks! It's too much like the Quarter Pounder at McDonalds! SHAMELESS! I'm never coming here... AGAIN!" Something tells me, BK Corporate really isn't going to fret loosing your $6 a week contribution to their coffers. And let's face it, this isn't going to be a moment like Norma Rae where we stand as one, in front of a mass, up on our factory table and rise our fist into the sky and scream "I'M NOT GONNA TAKE THIS ANY MORE!" and everyone begins to cheer and shouts "YEAH! GAMELOFT IS SHAMELESS! LET'S GO!!!" In my eyes, Gameloft has hit a few home runs. And as long as they keep making games that I enjoy, I'm going to keep buying them. If companies like Rockstar, Sony, Konami, Activision, Naughty Dog or Blizzard were making games for mobile platforms like the iOS then there would be no question. How could Gameloft's offering stack up to the real thing, if in fact the originator of the IP has just as quality of an incarnation as they're known for having? If Rockstar jumped on the bandwagon and brought out GTA when they should have, they wouldn't be competing with games like Gangstar, Payback or Car Jack Streets. All three (actually four, there's two Gangstar games) that I enjoyed. Gameloft wouldn't have any business selling an RTS clone of Starcraft, if Blizzard had expertly crafted an RTS and put it in our hands first. And it's not like large-scale publishers and developers don't have the time or money to do this, they're just nervous about stepping into this market because of the price floor that we have created. Blizzard doesn't think they're going to make money if they're simply charging $6 a pop for a game, or heck even $.99 or god forbid Free. At least Gameloft has found a niche, they're filling it quite nicely actually. They can plainly see that the big name developers and publishers often don't have a dog in this fight. I'm just absolutely thrilled someone has stepped up to the plate and filled a desire that the originators have been too afraid to do themselves. And how I feel about it is simply, Gameloft isn't often taking any money out of the pockets of small indie developers. They're not targeting small names and using their IP's before the originals get a chance to come out. Gameloft is making well-polished clones of games that huge companies have been making for other systems, and doing an excellent job at it. Rockstar had all of the money in the world to develop for a mobile device, but instead they've been soaking their money into more console games like L.A. Noire. I've read it time and time again, being said from major publishing houses... they're just not interested in investing the time and money it would take, to develop a "great game" that only sells for $.99 when they can make a larger, more impressive game and sell it for $60. It's unfortunate, but it's true. That's why only a hand-full of large brand publishers and developers have even begun to dip their toes into this market, and the offerings that exist are far from "the best"... heck, they're far from their console counterparts. That MGS shooter game from Konami was fun, but it's not the MGS game I wanted, that's for sure.
^ I'm glad I sparked this subscription vs flat rate smack down. How about (In case Gameloft really is watching) we put this to a vote? I'll go first. Flat Rate: 1 Subscription: 0 F2P with subscription: 0
Regardless of how this pans out, I still think we should consider the possibility of guilds being in the game, and getting a TA group together. Might be good fun!
Please be aware that an official voting booth has been set up in General Game Discussions! Link posted here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=90516 Further discussion can be continued there. Also, if you see an option that is not up there, please let me know.
After seeing the chaos faction images, I'm going with Order. It's not that the art is bad or anything, it's just I've played Chaos SO often. And I love playing the minority group. So consider me in the "Order."
Count me in, I'll happily be a damage dealer in the group/guild. Guild Name: Arcadian's Touch (sounded cool)
i'm in i'm a ninja or some ranged person if there is one and it's not subscription if its one time purchase, ill be in as soon as its released chaos or order?
I'll do the guild thing too, that guild name sounds cool, I can't think of a better one that is reminiscent of 'touch arcade' I'd go order seeming as most will probably go for chaos, but I'm easy.
Count me in on the guild too, Order or Chaos? dosnt matter to me which ever one the guild will be in.
Hard to say with so few details released on the game so far. (Will Order races have better racial perks than Chaos, etc...) But attempting to plan ahead of time, I'm thinking it will be Chaos. Also, I changed my mind, I think I'll Tank instead of Damage deal. I love the feedback everyone is giving on the guild name and extremely excited people like it and want to be a part of it! Thanks!
there'll prbly end up with one faction being ridiculously overpowered compared to the others cause so many people will play it i'll damage deal then
Interesting, count me in if you guys do get a guild going. I'll probably be my favorite class type in MMOs, the ranged DPS.
