As far as I know, there's no release date on this at all. It's been said that up until recently, it's considered to be still "in development". Now, we can assume by the content of the videos and stills that there's quite a bit of content done, and knowing how Gameloft has most recently dealt with releases (quick media blitz, acknowledgement of game presence, very short hype session, game retail release) several people on this thread have speculated that it will be out "soon". However, that's totally speculation.

I would like to see this released today, but I'm still suspicious that it's not quite as done as I'd like it to be. I stand by what I said earlier, and say that it will hopefully be out before May but I'm not putting all of my chickens in the basket of "30 days or less". I'd love to think that this is close, but I've just got a feeling that this is unlike anything Gameloft has ever done, and in all seriousness I'm sure Gameloft has absolutely no idea what's going to happen within the first few days of launch themselves. It takes quite a bit to run an MMO, and while I'm sure Gameloft has done their homework, the mass influx of players within the first day alone will probably bring their servers to their knees if they're not ready.

It's situations like that that make me wonder if Gameloft isn't still in the heat of fleshing this game out more. And frankly, I'd rather wait a month or two and know I'm getting a more well-built product than have it rushed to me and have the user-experience be awfully buggy.

    iTouch Support

I'm fairly certain this will not support my iTouch 2G but i hope that you guys at game loft allow it too. It will increase the number of players exponentially. You could come out with a second version for older models as well. It isn't using unreal engine so you could make it work examples (Dead Space) it would just have to be scaled down graphics wise. I hope you all at gameloft consider this others wise it's gonna be a while til the Iphone 5g comes out.

I almost have no idea what you just said... but allow me to respond as best I can. The iPod Touch 2G still has a relatively great influence upon the market. Just look at how many people at Toucharcade have 2G iDevices. If Gameloft is smart, they'd know that a good sum of money still comes from the 2G community. The iPhone 5G will be released this September.

Anyways does anybody know how they're selling this game? Are they charging monthly subscription or is it going to be a $9.99 package?

hope the give it an appropriate price, with free updates and add-ons, much like WoW's patches. DLCs/expansions should also be bought and not free

Very likely they will charge monthly subscription. The game needs too many upgrades and patches. A $9.99 package might not be enough.

I totally agree. They can't treat this like any other game, it's going to need constant attention and maintenance which costs time and money. If they charged a flat rate, I'd fear for the lifespan of the game, and it's support from Gameloft. If they charged a monthly fee though, they could maintain support for the game which benefits us. Paying a monthly fee may not jive well for a lot of iOS gamers, or mobile gamers in general, but anyone familiar with the Western-MMO world should have no problem with the pay-to-play model.

I also agree, that support should be free (game updates/changes, small content patches, etc...) but large expansion packs (new classes/races/zones/cities/etc...) should most likely be additionally purchased content. Pocket Legends has done quite well with additional purchases in terms of new zones, so I could easily see that being no problem for anyone interested in playing the game.

I hope so, but gameloft has made a number of games only compatible with the 3Gs or later. I was saying otherwise i will have to wait until september.

Alright so most members agree that this will be a monthly-subscription game. Now comes how Apple will react to this. As we all know, Apple is a power-hungry tyrant who controls everything on the App-Store. Apple probably won't be willing to make a "monthly subscription" option available just for this one game. So knowing that, anybody want to speculate on how Gameloft will be charging? Will it be third party charging, a method that Apple never allowed because the money doesn't go through them first?

Personally I'd be willing to pay $29.99 or even $39.99 flat rate for the whole package.

Edit - I suddenly had a really good idea! Gameloft could make it free to play and have membership fees for subscribers! Free players will only get like 10 quests and 10 abilities while paying members can get all the extra stuff like mounts and extra sections in the map. The F2P method is actually a really good way to advertise your game (like a demo)!

about the 2g compatibility, i think Gameloft are heading in the direction of phasing out the older devices. Makes me sad, i too am on a 2g machine, but it really is time to update, the capability of the later gen devices is just so much higher that making games for 2g just holds the rest back. i think it's extremely unlikely that this will run on 2g.

they did it for the newspapers, but games will inevitably follow suit. here's only hoping that if they make it a subscription, then they also give us regular updates. people tend to think that Gameloft don't update because when it's out they don't care, when it's more likely that the cost involved doesn't outweigh any new money they'll bring in from the product. if they have a subscription model, then the money will continue to support the game development, in theory.

Yeah, a massive online game usually has a massive amount of bugs. I'm sure this game will be updated quite regularly. On top of that, the subscription method will stop pirates (I hope).

PS: I meant I obviously didn't know that there was a subscription method :p

I feel the exact opposite of this. Having to buy in game items with real money is a terrible economy for both the publisher and the consumer. Those who want to play end game and be te best they can will have to spend actual money and playing end there will be no motivation to play end game for gear. The company will make less money than they would with a subscription fee and therefore less motivated to continually maintain and improve the game.

Lol I beg to differ. Runescape, Maplestory, Warrock, Combat Arms, Battlefield F2P, Bloodlines, Crossfire, etc... They all have F2P and membership options and they're all successful. I dunno where you're getting your information but I can assure you that it's false info.

I agree with u on all points and think isp are a good idea for those who choose to use them. I know i might if im sick of grinding. Also just cuz they are there does not mean u have to use them. Feel free to play how u like and let others as well.
