Thanks for the good read Red.

So now I've got a lvl 11 Monk that I'm going to stick with. But now I can't decide between divine and military. I want the healing abilities but other than that the military path seems better. I really want the speed buffers.

Yeah mages need some changes, hopefully gameloft gets on that and makes them a worthwhile class.

Playing a lv24 Assassin myself and also started a junior archer to try out the other side of the ranger.
After a while I got into thinking whether I could have done better with me talent choices.

    1) Playing a fast hitting assassin I would benefit a lot from the first tier archer talents; the one that gives extra accuracy and the poison thing. Sure the 20% proc rate with bows isn't much but when you get triple that amount of attacks with daggers I think it might do wonders. Haven't checked how it scales on higher skill levels.

    2) Dagger stab does awesome damage, especially when it crits and you have that extra damage talent when the opponent is stunned, but it eats quite a lot of vigor. Was thinking if I should just max shadow strike and spam it instead of dagger stab. Anyone tried that?

Other than that I've specced for blinding powder and escape dodge buff because those two skills will gain me the upper hand against bosses which often prove difficult. So far I've soloed everything but I don't know if it's a matter to brag about with. I bet most people are soloing the content so far.

I have read a post that ranger are overall better offs staying on the archer side instead on the assassin:

i can't for the life of me settle on a class/build to run with. i'm a pretty casual player and play mostly solo. i like the idiot-proof heals to at least somewhat make up for my lack of skill or forethought. i also like being able to buff and/or heal random people as i see them (it is a social game after all). this leads me to believe that i should probably go military monk. enough survivability and dps to solo, but i'll still be able to throw some heals and buffs out there. monk just seems kind of dull to this point (level 13, haven't spent any talent points yet), but that could just be because i don't have many skills yet.

i dabbled with a mage and couldn't stay alive for more than 5 minutes, and dabbled with a warrior, which has been good fun so far, but i'm not looking forward to having to become a sort of one-dimensional tank or dps toon.

so, based on that, i assume military monk is the sensible choice? i guess i ask because i don't know how they handle as they start to pile on levels.

Yea picking a class to marry to is a hard decision, I am going through a similar thing.

From what you said it does seem the Monk is the pick, but just to add the Warrior is not that boring tank one might think, it's has been a pretty heavy melee DPS person.

I think Monk as your main, and Warrior for later.

My so called banker char is a lv8 monk and so far I'm loving her. The military talent tree seems too good to be true when compared to my lv28 assassin (which is really good) so I can imagine monks becoming awesome power machines in the later game.

Not spending the talent points must be tough. I know it would be for me since talents are pretty much the biggest reason I keep playing RPG's. It costs 10G to reset talent points. To give some kind of perspective I've gathered about 20G so far when playing to level 28, so it's a rather big money sink. Then again it's only a few dollars to buy that 10G for a respec. :)

I'd say you spend 30 minutes looking at the talents on both monk trees and then make your decision and stay with it. Otherwise you'll grow bored of the game really fast.

One quick question on skill reset.
Say if i choose to do that, would i have to buy back all the skill books for levels 2,3,4 etc for my current skills?

Besides the standard two books were gotten from quests, i wonder how could i get those back as well.

I wanted to be sure before i hit on the reset scroll. Has anyone tried this out yet?

Haven't tried myself but I think I saw someone saying you will have to buy the books again after a reset.

    EDIT:

Turned out I was wrong. According to (http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=1722066&postcount=2011) the skills are still there after the reset.

I would really love to be able to disable the chat window entirely, or at least hide it until I specifically need it.

That being said, this game is quite an achievement. Sure there are some issues, but for the initial release I am seriously impressed.

    :)

    Arcadian Forest FTW! ;)

You can disable the chat, just open the chat box as if you were going to say something, but hit the little arrow so it shows the different chat options (like Global, Local, Say, etc...), and just hold down the one you want to disable. Rinse and repeat for all the ones you want to disable.

No no. The wheel is the option people notice.

But there is also an 8 slot bar in the right side of the screen, that you can hide like a dock. :)

    Re

I only JUST found an "orange" quest, but the quest giver was in an area with mobs some four to five levels higher than me, so that is to be expected (I got there by following my arrow as a "b-line" instead of following roads. This is NOT to say that my iPhone can't play the game - it does ASTOUNDINGLY well. I've been amazed to play such a feature rich game on my phone. Seriousisly this game is another level in my opinion - this is "full computer" class level of content from what I can tell. The "full map" shows that the amount of content is substantial. They have spells, healing ability, and decen attack to boot. Energy Shield just isn't enough. Of course, Skyflame seems more offensive than defensive. I'm not sure if I want to go with Assassin or Archer. I like the idea of having a portable game wow but game loft is bothering me here; I have lost complete confidence in their ability to balance and or maintain balance of games.

    Ranger is epic

Right now I'm a level 32 ranger and I'm loving it!

Warrior: Stupid high DPS tanks. Your average orignal charater. not super fun IMO
Monk: healing is cool, but not useful if you find yourself fighting.
Mage: Gameloft needs to work on this charater type.

Rangers are awesome because they have stealth which is awesome when it comes to quests where you have to avoid all the minions and get to bosses. Then since you have a far range you can shoot them and only attract their attention usually. If you are in stealth when you use quick shoot you get a 3 second stun on them. Plus one of the types of toxicity slows down the enemy by 60%.

So essentially you have a very slow moving target that is half dead. It makes enemies much easier to kill. Not to mention they are 50 yards away. If they opponent does manage to get to you they have 50% or less health and then you can use your melee or quick arrow to finish them off.
