The way the game works meant that a traditional d-pad + button control system was just not going to work. What I will stress is that it's not a game where you will have the screen obscured by your hand as you navigate the map and pwn bad guys. It's a really painstakingly tested control scheme that provides the best of both worlds in terms of movement control and specific character actions.
