I just finished the game this morning.I had a good time completing the levels.I also didn't like the end and see no replay value in the game.Overall 3.5/5
Seems a new bug is introduced. I updated fine yesterday, save intact and all. Played through a few acts, got to level 7, etc. I was in and out of the game several times with no problems. Today I load up the game, and it's like I'd never played. No save at all and back to watching the intro. Completely reset. Appears there is now a save/load glitch. Edit: Some info that might help. I do not use iCloud saving. Using an iPhone 4 on 5.0.1, jailbroken. Legitimately purchased copy of the game, incase there is any accusation of piracy due to being jailbroken. I buy all my games.
Solution Had the same problem and found the solution. The solution is to the mission properly: loot the king! So grab the shield, the sword and also the robes of the king by walking near snd tapping on the king, now you have succeeded!
How are we suppose to get the achievement for stomping the spiders? I believe I have tried everything
that's weir that one is the most easy for me, you cant kill the spiders with the sword, axe or mace you need to make rok crush the spiders with his foot, when i destroy a barrel or spiders eggs i taped the spiders quick and rok just stomp them, now doing that during battle is difficult because most of the time rok use his weapon instead of the stomp
The easiest level to get this achievement is Act 3, Chapter 1, where spiders are coming out of eggs. Just double-tap an egg and Rok will usually stomp the spider with his feet instead of using his weapon
In general I do like the different animations, such as stomping the spiders, or later when your special skills can freeze an opponent, he kicks the opponent to destroy them. The little things like that do help make the game very enjoyable. Almost makes up for the completely undoable circle gesture and the just slightly better zig zag gesture. Really need buttons for those...
Argon Historian Achievement How are we supposed to get the achievement for reading all the Lore Books? I finished the game twice and found (and read) 23 of these, but did not get this achievement. Did I miss one? I'm a bit puzzled about this as the game is quite linear and those Lore Books are hard to overlook. Here are the books I found so far: --- Update: Found the 24th and final book in the 2nd chapter of act 2. (How could I've been so blind? ) Updated the following list accordingly: Act 1, Chapter 1: 1) "The Plague" Act 1, Chapter 2: 2) "Lunatic" + 3) "Rescued By An Orc" Act 1, Chapter 3: 4) "War Of The Kingdoms" Act 1, Chapter 4: 5) "Treasure Of The Dead" --- Act 2, Chapter 1: 6) "The Chamber" Act 2, Chapter 2: 7) "Order Of Magic" Act 2, Chapter 3: 8) "Soul For Greed" + 9) "Here Lies Lord Levan" --- Act 3, Chapter 1: 10) "Chronicle I" + 11) "Chronicle II" + 12) "Chronicle III" + 13) "Chronicle IV" Act 3, Chapter 2: - Act 3, Chapter 3: 14) "Ancient Sanctuary" + 15) "Temple Hunter" Act 3, Chapter 4: 16) "Flooded Effort" --- Act 4, Chapter 1: - Act 4, Chapter 2: 17) "The Traitor" Act 4, Chapter 3: 18) "Devenus The Traveler" --- Act 5, Chapter 1: 19) "Chronicle V" Act 5, Chapter 2: 20) "The Realm Portal" + 21) "Shattered Hope" Act 5, Chapter 3: 22) "The Under Realm" + 23) "A Final Regret" + 24) "Our Last Days"
So much better than the disappointing Heroes Call! Played the campaign twice, so it's time for a short review: + Graphics and animations are awesome, as are performance and loading times. Very impressive and very well done! However, I'd wish for more contrast as even with maximum brightness the game often appears too dark. + Touch controls work great, which is a good thing, as i absolutely hate d-pads. + IAPs are indeed completely unnecessary, as the game is easy. Very easy. I completed the game without upgrading any gear, without buying any gear and without spending a single stat point. In most situations the game gives you enough room for evading and running in circles, which makes you feel very comfortable. Here are some things that have mostly already been addressed by others and should give rise to some modifications. First, some technical things: - "Don't waste my time!": Nobody needs a footsore orc, unnecessarily slowing down the game! Completely eliminate walking and let Rok run all the time. - "Don't waste my time, part 2" or "Skip! Skip! Skip!": Honestly, why do devs still infuriate players with things that have already been identified as an absolute no-go twenty years ago? One of these things are definitely non-skippable cutscenes! When I have to restart from a checkpoint, what do I need least of all? A cutscene. When I am replaying a chapter, for fun, gold or loot, what is extremely tiresome to watch again? All those cutscenes. When the devs give us an achievement "reach level 30", thus giving the player an incentive to spend tens of additional hours replaying already finished parts of the game, what should be skippable in any case? You got it, the cutscenes. I can understand that much love and effort went into creating these cutscenes and if you absolutely want the player to watch these at least once, then simply make the first appearance of a cutscene non-skippable, but any further appearances skippable! - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!": This whole gesturing thing seems a bit complicated and unnatural. Again and again that double tap thing (which is really easily triggered accidentally) gets mixed with my simple intention to move. Other games work perfectly well with simple on-screen buttons for this, and yours would do equally well. - Note that all these things (just like a d-pad) may be implemented optional and turned on/off in the options menu. Now some things regarding gameplay/design: - Two equip slots are a bit few. I really like having not too much of micro management in a game, so I'd rather have two slots than twenty, but at least adding an armor slot and an helmet slot, thus having four of these, couldn't hurt. - It's a clever idea to automatically sell stuff that's already in the inventory. However, especially when replaying a low level, you're getting spammed with low-level gear you definitely don't want to keep and it would be very handy to have the opportunity to sell it immediately, instead of having to wait for the vendor screen. So, when picking up an item, you should, in addition to "take" and "equip" offer "sell"/"convert to gold" as a third option. - In the vendor screen it's very cumbersome to go through all the stuff, in order to compare the items and to decide what to sell and what to keep. Items definitely should be ordered by freely selectable criteria, for example weapon speed/weapon damage/perk ability for weapons and shield protection/perk ability for shields. - The whole rare item/perk system feels somewhat rudimentary and not well thought-out. From other games people have been getting used to different qualities of items, corresponding to certain colors, rarities and numbers of perks, for example something like gray (common, no bonus), yellow (uncommon, small bonus/max. 1 perk), green (rare, medium bonus/max. 2 perks), purple (legendary, large bonus/max. 3 perks), etc. In contrast, colors in Orc Vengeance bear only very little meaning and are more confusing than helpful. Items are generally limited to at most one perk (whose value is often very hard to read on the iPhone, btw) and having colored items selling at higher prices, although having no advantage over non-colored items in terms of usefulness, simply doesn't feel right. This makes it very hard for the player to grasp the general difference between a gray, a green and a purple item and to develop some kind of appreciation and satisfaction for finding a "rare" item. Okay, that was quite some ranting (with hopefully some constructive criticism as well), but all in all: Thanks to the devs for a great and very enjoyable game! Any additional content or follow-up would be an insta-buy for me!
"Become a Warchief" achievement broken? I just reached character level 25, but the corresponding achievement "Become a Warchief" remains locked Anybody else with the same problem? Why is it that so many games have problems with properly registering accomplished achievements? This really can't be that difficult ...
I do respectfully disagree with the point that the game is too easy. While it certainly isn't unbeatable (though I haven't finished yet), there have many battles where I've had to chug a bunch of potions and/or had to restart from checkpoint because I died. It's definitely not TOO hard, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it's too easy, either. I would put it at a general "normal" difficulty for games which give a choice. (My guess is that you're a "Hardcore" type of guy!)
Good review Thanks for the review especially knowing that you don't need the IAP to finish the game. It looks like some of that old Diablo magic is back but this time on iOS.
Definitely don't need the IAP. Even with the sometimes wonky controls, at this price point it is a must buy for any fan of the genre.
Two great games Hello all! Frisbee10461 here! I believe I am the first person to post that I like both Heroes Call and Orc: Vengeance. Although there are several differences, there are many similarities between the two games. Whether you like Heroes Call or despise it, or whether you love or loathe Orc: Vengeance, I am super psyched that "touch-style" hack-and-slashers are this good on the iPad. With that said, I have the following comments: As a suggestion to the developers, perhaps they can upgrade the game every few months or so and add an act for each upgrade. What I will do is play it again from beginning to end to get the full flavor of the game. But, for the rest of you, is there anything you do to keep interested in the game after you defeat it several times? Also, is anyone else having difficulty with the circle or zigzag moves? The double-tap and the slash work fine for me; however, I cannot get the other two moves to function properly. Tip: The most of any item you can get is 99. So, if you have 99 potions, start using them; otherwise, any potions you pick up do not get added to your inventory. This happens to me a lot with the red potions. Thanks, Frisbee10461
I'm new here. Just pick it up and play, still can't get it: how can I sell weapon & armor again? I took many, but can't find a way to sell them. Thanks
You need to enter the shop first and in the right menu select the gold bag to sell items them just slide the wespon or shield you want to sell to the vendor
Zip zag I get to work sometimes. The difficulty is in doing it while not also moving in the direction you start the zig zag at. It's a real pain. The circle I just can NOT do at all. It's really broken. Someone said try making a clockwise circle in the corner of the screen, that did nothing for me.
I just hit the bug. Was on Act 3 (I think Chapter Two or Three). I had played several times before I went to play again and it started me completely from the beginning. Save file gone.
