just curious, i know everyone's talked a lot here about addons and such for updates. has anyone heard anything about the dev asking questions about this? i don't recall them ever making an appearance on this thread.
33 on Pure mode now, think I am getting a bit more consistent. Could have been a lot higher but for a stupid shot.
Orbital Round-up Hi everyone We're amazed about all the ideas regarding new game modes. Some of them were also discussed during the development of the game and weren't therefore totally new to us. I personally wanted progressive scoring too... We're working on the first update at the moment. This will include: - Listen to your own music during play - Performance improvements - Various adjustments Other reviews also commented on future modes/changes. Read them here if you like: http://www.appsmile.com/2009/08/03/upcoming-iphone-game-orbital/ http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2009/07/21/review-orbital-iphone/ http://www.148apps.com/reviews/orbital/ We already planned during the development to include an additional game mode. All your inputs to different aspects of Orbital will be discussed (some of them discussed again) and some of them will probably be in the new game mode. We aim to release a fun but consistent add to the actual game. Present your personal ideas in this thread. All will be collected and prepared for a big poll on orbital-game.com. The most wanted feature will be included in the next game mode. Keep up this great discussion. Greets
Please keep at least one mode with the simple scoring, though, adding anything else as additional modes. Pure mode should be just that, one point per orb with the gameplay (in that mode at least) remaining unchanged. This is my favourite game, and Pure my favourite mode, don't spoil it
Got this yesterday, and wanted to comment that the menu music, when played externally on my iphone 3G, does not sound good, it causes the speakers to crackle. It sounds good with headphones, but I don't like to play with headphones. Can someone also define the exact parameters of getting the numbers to change. It seems that sometimes, the projectile would hit the borders, bounce off and change ball numbers and other times it would not. I also saw a few instances of hitting small balls and the numbers didn't change.
If the orb is hit, the number changes, simple as that. Sometimes an orb will settle right next to another, and the sound the orbs make when settling can sound as if the orb has been hit. It hasn't. If you hit the orb, the number will go down, it's no more complicated than that. As far as the music goes, I can't comment as I have no problems on my Touch 2g.
Something a bit weird with the Pure mode leaderboard. The top was 45 an hour or so ago, when I look now it's 96. Putting aside how much better that us than anyone else has managed, the weird thing is that it shows as the alltime top score but not at all in the last 24 hours scores. It has literally just changed so how can it show in one and not the other?
I think the leaderboards have been hacked somehow. The same name has miraculously appeared as top of both gravity and pure modes at the same time. This is itself might not be so unusual, maybe someone is just very good at the game, but in neither mode do they appear in the best scores in the last 24 hours, despite the scores just appearing. It is also a name that has never featured before, and it seems strange that they would suddenly get the best scores without appearing on the boards at all before. I might be wrong but it looks suspicious to me!
Earlier post by the developer: It could be this new guy has only played the game offline, then when he connected his best score went straight to the top of the leaderboards.
Guess so, but I am struggling to believe a score of 96 in Pure when the next best is 45. If genuine, that's an amazing score, but still seems odd that he wouldn't post earlier scores at all as he worked his score higher. No way did he get 96 without a lot of practice and many scores between 45 and 96. Anything over 45 would have taken him to number 1 so I am sure these would have been posted.
Yeah true. I'm just saying it's possible to do that without resorting to bugs or cheating, whether or not he did though is probably down to the dev to find out.
If the developer confirms it as a true score, then I will salute this guy as an Orbital master. However, I am sure anyone who has played Pure mode will agree that this just seems too good. It's hard to imagine there being enough space in the play area to burst 96 orbs without a mistake. Especially when puffo, who posts on this thread, has a high of 36!
The only reasonable way I can think of someone that good coming along so suddenly is if he was a master of Gimme Friction Baby.
Had my first go at Gravity mode for ages, scored 57. Still miles from the top in that mode but my best yet so gotta be happy
